I just took a few days away from home that included a visit to the Eisenhower Center (includes librairy, memorial, childhood home....).

At 50 YO, it's embarassing to admit I have driven within a couple miles of this attraction 100's of times and never before stopped there to visit it in Abilene, KS.

Born and raised a Kansan, you'd think I'd have been proud enough of the man who started our interstate highway system (one of the best tools we have for business!) to at least observe his grave.

He was credited mainly for his involvement in D-Day by many. I always figured if he had not been there, many of the others involved could and would have done what he did. Great accomplishment, but I credit him more for what the interstate system did for us.

I'll post an interesting bit of information about Ike in another thread that I think will blow a few minds here, as it did mine when I learned of it. :)

Supreme Commander Dwight Eisenhower gives the order of the day "Full victory - Nothing else" to paratroopers of the 101st Airborne Division at the Royal Air Force base in Greenham Common, England, three hours before the men board their planes to participate in the first assault wave of the invasion of the continent of Europe, June 5, 1944

We could use a boring competent President who doesn't use a teleprompter with no fist bumps

Great Photos!

Hooray for Kodachrome for the color shots, which they did take away, unfortunately.
