. The Clintons both speak about how the U.S. is fat and the poverty of most of the rest of the world is unfair. Both have proclaimed the need for higher taxes in this country, but... Chelsea's Wedding will cost $3 Million dollars and her cake is going to best $11,000.00! Again, it's run the scam and get Rich while deriding the Rich. When was the last time you heard Oprah referred to as a Fatcat? Keep the Bailouts coming - say the Dems. . |

Why doesn't she take that 3 million and donate it to the US Treasury, she advoctes that the rich should pay more, does she consider herself poor? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpoXZjIHTSU&feature=related or this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBPSrqMcmDM Maybe we should all move to Brazil? This woman is a kook, we all need to pay more taxes, except me. |

I am having a hard time digesting the numbers being thrown out for Chelsea's wedding. An $11,000 wedding cake is something I must see to believe. I have read $70,000 for wedding invitations. How is this possible unless the Clintons are idiots and are being taken advantage of. The guest list is between 400-500 people with that number the highest costs per guest for the invitations would be $140 per invitation. Is this possible? Hope my girls elope. |

. The Clintons do a lot of Grifting. He borrows - and then borrows more. He goes from high dollar supporter vacation estate to high dollar supporter estate. . |

My guess is that the wedding costs (though high) are not as high as are being reported. It is probably also true that a number of things are being provided gratis because the giver hopes to accrue (or has accrued in the past) political favors. I find the spending that many people do on weddings to be obscene - but that is me. What I find troubling is the report that airspace over the site of the wedding has been declared restricted from 3:30 pm to 3:30 am (Saturday-Sunday). Why is that? Personally, I am glad that I live no where near the festivities as getting around would be a nightmare. |

Hillary offered up in an interview that the guests were all people who had been important in Chelsea's life. Do any of us have 500 people important in our lives - highly doubt it. The 500 people are important to Bill and Hillary. The life after the Presidency has made Bill and Hillary a lot of money. Coming into the White House with very little it seems that they are letting their egos get ahead of their judgment. I am with you cks, the high dollar wedding stuff makes little sense to me, especially when you can put that money into a sizeable contribution toward a home for your children. |

It is a political wedding. The groom's parents were formerly members of Congress. His mother was a journalist who was a Clinton cheerleader turned politician. His father (the parents are now divorced) was indicted and convicted for some sort of money laundering (I believe that was the charge though memory is hazy on what exactly he was nailed on) and spent time in a federal pen. Both Chelsea and her husband-to-be work on Wall Street. I would hazard a guess that the 400-500 people invited are people who fall into the category of helpful to the couple in the past and probably helpful to them in the future. That such Democratic luminaries as Obama, Gore, and Edwards are not there demonstrates that the Clinton's are thinking down the road (strategy wise). My guess is that many Clinton old hands are there as well as party stalwarts and those in the media who they believe will be of future use. Obviously it will be a wedding where the guest list will be read like the tea leaves in the bottom of a cup. One hopes that the bride and groom will be happy and enjoy a long life together. However, it would seem today that few weddings where there has been such a lavish display have fared well in the long term. Perhaps theirs' will be the exception. One has to hope that amid all the expensive hoopla that the real reason - the joining of two people in a commitment to each other for life does not seem as a side attraction. I believe the mother of the groom, Marjorie Margolis was a congresswoman at the time of a critical vote that Bill wanted to pass in congress. I don't remember if it was the retroactive tax bill or a budget approval, but she cast the last and deciding vote. It was very controversial in her district and she lost her next election. The father went to jail for bank fraud. Now couple those genes with those of the Clintons and you have quite a mix for the next generation. |

Yes, you are right. Marjorie Margolis was a reporter for a local DC station when I lived there (Channel 4, the NBC affiliate). |

There is a lot of discussion on the air about the cost of the wedding. From reading about Hillary and Bill's, I think Hillary is living the wedding she did not have. Hillary paid $53.00 for her wedding dress and only bought it the day before the wedding. Strange that the dress is usually the thing most brides- to- be think of first. I am wondering if she picked Bill this way. Perhaps he was the only guy left standing. There is a funny cartoon in the paper today depicting Chelsea standing alone at the alter asking "where is dad and my bridesmaids"? |
