I am very confused, seriously. Isn't it a rather serious crime to post a classified document at a publicly accessible web site? It doesn't matter if they're only at the level of SECRET. That is still a very serious crime. I cannot believe that the White House did not shut down that web site immediately, and haul the people who own it off to prison. This administration is unbelievably clueless. They have made a mockery of our system of security clearance and how classified documents are handled. |

This President and this WH could care less about national security, he is a kid in a brand new sand box, he wants to fly around on AF1 and have good old rock and roll parties at his public housing unit in DC and charge the American People for his extravagance. I find this amazing, he said there would be change and the change is that we will pay for his frolic and games, if the progressives have their way, he will be the King of the United States. He reminds me of all those third would country leaders, where the country is improvished, but the leader was rich and living in luxory. |

The guy who leaked them is under arrest, iirc. Once they are already leaked, I don't think people down the line can be prosecuted. |

http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/07/29/army-pfc-bradley-manning-suspect-in-wikileaks-afghan-documents/ Manning, 22, was detained in Kuwait before the WikiLeaks Afghan reports for allegedly mishandling and leaking classified data: a helicopter cockpit video of a deadly 2007 firefight in Baghdad. He reportedly bragged about leaking classified material to WikiLeaks before being taken into custody. At the very least, where is the strong public condemnation of WikiLeaks. They could at least shut them down in the interests of national security until the investigation is complete. http://patdollard.com/2010/07/pentagon-calls-release-of-wikileaks-documents-a-criminal-act-says-review-will-take-days-if-not-weeks-appear-to-be-low-level-classified/ |

I'm fairly certain the Wikileak is published outside of our borders, so there's not much the US can do. Besides, that would be like slapping the guy who called you are a liar, after he had proved it. The US had dumped some inaccurate media responses to a couple of the events this leak has uncovered. Edited by kbp, Jul 29 2010, 08:59 PM.

Considering Wikileaks editor-in-chief Julian Assange claims that he gave White House the docs weeks earlier for review. Considering the White House claimed outrage over the publishing and that they didn't know anything about it we have a problem. Some have put forward the proposition that the White House wanted to leak these documents as a way of backing out of the Afghanistan War by turning public opinion against the war If so, it is a serious offense. We have a very serious problem in the White House. |
