According to David Squires of the Daily Press, Quanis threatened to smash birthday cake in Vick's face, or he actually smashed the cake in Vick's face. Another version is that someone smashed cake in Quanis' face -- or threatened to smash it in his face. The confrontation moved outside -- where there were several still cameras and video cameras. Phillips was shot in the shopping center parking lot. It is unclear whether Vick was still around at the time of the shooting, but he was definitely not there when police arrived. Phillips was in good condition at a Virginia Beach hospital on Friday morning. http://tinyurl.com/24eu5ab . |

http://blogs.ajc.com/atlanta-falcons-blog/2010/06/25/update-roddy-white-was-at-vicks-camp-before-the-shooting/ UPDATE: Roddy White was at Vick’s camp before the shooting 4:41 pm June 25, 2010, by D. Orlando Ledbetter Roddy White attended Michael vick's football camp, but had left the party before an early a.m. shooting occurred. Roddy White attended Michael Vick's football camp, but had left the party before an early a.m. shooting occurred. Falcons Pro Bowl wide receiver Roddy White attended Michael Vick’s football camp at Hampton University on Thursday but was not at a party later that night when a shooting took place. “Just got off the plane. Goin(g) to Mike Vick’s football camp in VA. Should be good,” White tweeted at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday off his Twitter.com account. Later, at 11: 05 he tweeted, “Camp was nice. It was hot, but fun.” Jonathan Feinsod spoke to White’s mother and she said Roddy was fine. He wasn’t sure if White was in Virginia or back in Atlanta, but he was not present at the time of the shooting. “Roddy is pretty loyal to his friends,” Feinsod said on Friday. “I’m sure he wasn’t involved in anything.” Several Virginia media outlets have reported that Quanis Phillips, one of Vick’s co-defendants in the federal dogfighting trial, was shot after a birthday party for Vick after 2 a.m. Friday morning. Lawrence Woodward, Vick’s attorney, said his client was not involved or present during the shooting. Former Falcon DeAngelo Hall, who currently plays for the Washington Redskins, was listed as one o f the “invited” guests on the flyer for the party. But Friday evening he tweeted that he wasn’t there. “I understand I was mentioned as a special ‘invited’ guest to attend, but as most of you know I’ve been on vacation with my family,” Hall sent in a tweet at 3:49 on Friday. |

http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/eagles/Police_Vick_Of_No_Interest_in_Shooting_Probe.html Friday, June 25, 2010 Police: Vick 'Of No Interest' in Shooting Probe The good news for Michael Vick this afternoon might be that the Virginia Beach police say he is "of no interest to us" as they investigate a shooting that occurred early this morning outside a restaurant where Vick reportedly had been celebrating his 30th birthday. However, given the stringent protocols of Vick's reinstatement to football last year by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, it might not be a great thing for the Eagles' backup quarterback that a man identified by Virginia Beach General Hospital as Quanis Phillips, one of Vick's 2007 dogfighting codefendants, suffered a nonlifethreatening wound in the incident. Vick is not supposed to associate with anyone from his dogfighting days, after serving more than a year and a half in prison and being released on probation before his reinstatement last year. Police spokesman Adam Bernstein said his department got a cell-phoned 911 call at 2:11 AM from someone who had heard an argument followed by a gunshot in the 4600 block of Columbus Street, in Virginia Beach's Town Center section. Officers arrived at the Guadalajara nightclub/restaurant and were told the victim had just gotten into a vehicle, to be driven to the hospital. The police stopped the vehicle, Bernstein, said, and transported the adult male victim by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his leg. Bernstein said the officers' report characterized the victim as "very uncooperative," which he said was also the case with other witnesses. Bernstein said all police knew about the shooter was that he was said to be a black male wearing a white tank top, who left the area in a white Cadillac Escalade. Hampton Roads (Va.) Daily Press Urban Affairs columnist David Squires blogged today that sources told him there was a dispute between Phillips and Vick that involved the smearing of birthday cake, before the shooting. "The story goes that Quanis threatened to smash birthday cake in Vick's face, or that he actually smashed the cake in Vick's face," Squires wrote. "Another version is that someone smashed cake in Quanis' face -- or threatened to smash it in his face. "Anyway, the confrontation moved outside -- where I'm told there were several still cameras and video cameras. "Cooler heads did NOT prevail, and 'Q' was shot in the shopping center parking lot. "It is unclear whether Vick was still around at the time of the shooting, but he was definitely not there when police arrived." Another Daily Press report, posted later Friday, quoted Atlanta Falcons wideout Roddy White as saying he and Vick left the area long before the shooting. "We were already gone by the time that stuff started happening, so I don't know what's going to go on with that or whatever, but we didn't have anything to do with it," White said on Friday during a break in the youth football camp being held Hampton University. Bernstein said Vick is "of no interest to us" as police investigate. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league is looking into the incident "to determine the facts." When Goodell allowed Vick to return to the NFL last July, one part of the letter announcing the decision said: "Needless to say, your margin for error is extremely limited." Vick's agent, Joel Segal, did not respond to a request for comment from the Daily News. Vick's attorney Larry Woodward told the Associated Press that Vick was neither involved in nor present for the shooting. The Eagles issued the following statement: "We are aware of the incident that occurred in Virginia early this morning and are in the process of gathering all of the facts. Until then, we will not have any comment on this matter." http://www.ktla.com/sports/dp-nws-vick-party-shooting-20100625,0,470343.story UPDATE: Shooting victim at Vick birthday party may have been dogfighting co-defendant A hospital spokesman confirms that Quanis Phillips was admitted and listed in good condition. A source raises the possibility that Michael Vick might have committed a violation of his probation. Mike Holtzclaw, mholtzclaw@dailypress.com | (757) 928-6479 2:11 PM PDT, June 25, 2010 Click here to find out more! VIRGINIA BEACH — A man was shot outside of a Virginia Beach club early Friday at a birthday party for NFL quarterback Michael Vick. Police have not identified the shooting victim, but a spokesman for Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital confirmed that Quanis Phillips – one of the co-defendants in Vick's 2007 federal dogfighting trial – was admitted early this morning and was listed in good condition. The spokesman would not discuss the nature of Phillips' injuries, and he said Phillips has declined to speak with media. Several people who attended the party say that the shooting outside Guadalajara, in the 4600 block of Columbus Street in the Town Center of Virginia Beach, occurred at one of a handful of birthday celebrations for Vick on Thursday night. The party was advertised as a star-studded event via the Twitter feed of Vick's brother, Marcus. A poster created for the event boasted of special guests, such as NBA basketball star Allen Iverson and NFL defensive back DeAngelo Hall. Hall issued a statement on Twitter saying that he wasn't at the party. Mike Florio of profootballtalk.com pointed out that the incident could cause trouble for Vick because he's on federal probation, and he's banned from associating with his former associates in Bad Newz Kennels, including Phillips. Upon reinstating Vick to the NFL last July, Commissioner Roger Goodell specifically informed Vick that "you are required to abide by the terms of the supervised release that were imposed on you by the court, which include not committing any further crime, limits on who you may associate with, prohibitions regarding alcohol and drug use, possession of a firearm or other dangerous weapon, and forbidding you to own, possess or be involved with the sale of any dog." Roddy White, a reciever for the Atlanta Falcons, said he and Michael Vick were at the party but not at the time of the shooting. Vick had picked him up at the airport earlier in the day for White to assist with Vick's local football camp. "We were already gone by the time that stuff started happening, so I don't know what's going to go on with that or whatever, but we didn't have anything to do with it," White said on Friday during a break in the youth football camp being held at Hampton University. The shooting occurred around 2:10 a.m. A fight broke out as the club was closing, and one man was shot, said Adam Bernstein, spokesman for Virginia Beach police. Vick, who starred at Warwick High School in Newport News, turns 30 years old on Saturday. He spent 21 months in prison after pleading guilty in federal court to charges related to a dogfighting ring operated out of a home he owned in Surry County. Phillips, who was a high school football teammate of Vick's, was also sentenced to 21 months after pleading guilty. Vick was released from prison last summer. He was reinstated to the NFL and signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. He spent the 2009 season as a backup quarterback with the Eagles, and the team picked up his option for the upcoming 2010 season. Staff writer Melinda Waldrop contributed to this report. |

. The Media has been overwhelmingly supportive. This article swims against the current. Vick's Mistake: Attending the party in the first place 6/26/2010 9:57:42 PM According to Jordan Raanan of CSNPhilly.com, Michael Vick was doing so well. Or so ir seemed. The embattled quarterback/convicted dog fighter was saying all the right things, doing everything that was asked, fighting the good fight, being a productive member of society, abetting the anti-dogfighting crusade and even starting to resemble the football player that used to do the impossible with unassuming ease. And then he had to do this. He had to promote a birthday party in Virginia Beach that was open to the public. The details are still unclear as to what actually happened at Vick's All White 30th Birthday Bash. This much, however, is known. Someone was shot. That someone happened to be one of Vick's co-defendants in his dogfighting case. Nothing good happens at 2 AM at a party that anyone with $20 in their pocket and all-white clothing could attend. And Michael Vick should never have been there in the first place. The terms of Vick's probation prohibit him from associating with any convicted felon, especially one of your co-defendants. That mistake alone could cost Vick his freedom. It does not matter if Vick knew Quam Phillips was at the party or if Vick left long before the shooting occurred. Michael Vick should never have been at the party. Those are exactly the type of scenes a high-profile ex-convict is supposed to avoid. Especially someone who was given a second chance at a lucrative career – Vick is expected to make $5.2 million this year – as long as he steers clear of trouble. As far as football goes, whether Vick was involved in any crime may not matter.Even the slightest of missteps might be reason enough for the Eagles and NFL to sever their relationships with the troubled quarterback. If he compounded a minor mistake with more egregious ones, football is not going to be the only privilege confiscated. It’s disappointing to see it all come full circle. These were the kind of slip-ups Vick needed to avoid. These are the situations he wasn’t supposed to put himself in ever again after what seemed like a life lesson he would never forget. He was supposed to live happily ever after in relative obscurity. That doesn’t happen when you’re throwing yourself an open-invite birthday party with 300-plus attendees. Vick has disappointed mentors such as Donovan McNabb, Commissioner Goodell, the Eagles organization, and the good-sized portion of the public that has been rooting for Vick to succeed. For there will always be others who do not believe Goodell should have ever re-instated Vick and were waiting for the slightest misstep to prove themselves right Vick will never be a normal citizen. He will never walk the streets in total anonymity. His behavior will always be scrutinized. That is why Jordan Raanan writes, "This is indefenssible. This is reason for the Eagles to say goodbye. In the coming days it is likely many other fans will feel the same way. http://www.theredzone.org/BlogDescription/tabid/61/EntryId/7793/Vick-s-Mistake--Attending-the-party-in-the-first-place/Default.aspx . . The League is silent - and the Eagles have said, Well He is allowed to be at his Own Birthday Party! Oh, well, that's clears it all up then. It's okay the Ex-Con has a Public Birthday Party - at a club - and then has a confrontation with another Ex-Con the courts have ordered him to stay away from. Oh, and after DogKilla has a confrontation at the Club Party - the very man that he was entangled with is shot leaving the club. More of the double, triple, and quadruple standards. And this is the guy at the club partying that has already been hit with civil suits for spreading herpes and used an alias in those suits - "Ron Mexico". The Pittsburgh QB - Rothlisberger - was celebrating his birthday too. Surely an NFL team like the Iggles knows this. . Edited by Mason, Jun 28 2010, 12:03 AM.

. Report: Vick was really there during Shooting Producer of BET show further complicates Vick's situation 6/28/2010 2:48:02 PM In an article written for SportsRadioInterviews.com, Paul Bessire presents information about Michael Vick's birthday party that may complicate Vick's predicament with the NFL and his parole officer. Ahmadu Garba, the producer of Vick's reality show on BET and the man who drove Vick out of prison, was interviewed by WGFX in Nashville to discuss to discuss the shooting at Vick’s party . The official story about the party was that Vick left with Falcons wide receiver Roddy White before the shooting of Vick's co-defendant Quam Phillips. Garba, however told the radio station "I got a call last night from this guy whose name is John, he's Vick's wife's assistant, Kiafa." Garba said. "It was probably about 4:00 a.m. Nasvhille time. He told me that, 'Something just went down. We're at this party and shots rang out.' As far as I know from what it sounded like, Mike was there and they left shortly after that. . . . I have a couple of years of law school experience, so he was asking me,'What's going on? Is everything going to be OK?'" On whether Vick knew who was involved in the shooting, Garba stated, "“Yes, they knew who was involved, yeah. Mike is the king of Hampton, Virginia. Everybody knows him. He knows everybody. When he had his welcome back home party, I was at the party. There was a bunch of guys where Mike had to say, ‘No you can’t let those guys in.’ Because he knew what was going on. Mike knows the guy who got shot. I don’t know who did the shooting. They don’t know. As far as I know, Mike didn’t have anything to do with it. Everybody wants something from Mike.” Garba stated he believed that Vick's federal probation prohibited him from associating with any of his co-defendants ffor six months.Garba stated,""I know Mike pretty well. I’m the one that drove him out of prison with my film crew. We drove across country with him and probably spent about three months with him when he was on house arrest. As far as his probation goes, the first six months he couldn’t be around certain people. Mike had a couple of parties, some house warming parties a few days after he got out. Some people tried to come to his house and people had to block them off and tell that they couldn’t come. As far as being on his parole, being around those people doesn’t matter now, but he was around weapons and there was violence, so that could be an issue… Mike couldn’t be around his co-defendants within a six month window of when he got out of prison. Garba also was asked if there would be a second season of the BET show and he said, "“I guess now with all of this, if Vick doesn’t go to prison, there will definitely be a season two.” EDITOR'S NOTE: This editor used to be a state probation and parole officer for over 20 years, and while I don't know the specific condions of Vick's probation, it is standard to prohibit the offender from associating with his co-defendant or any convicted felon for the duration of their supervision. There certainly a ban on firearms and, if Garba's information is correct, Vick is in serious trouble. http://www.theredzone.org/BlogDescription/tabid/61/EntryId/7828/Producer-of--BET-show-further-complicates-Vick-s-situation/Default.aspx Edited by Mason, Jun 29 2010, 01:15 AM.

. Bullet came from the same direction as Vick and his Entourage too. Citing new evidence, police take fresh look at Vick after shooting 7/1/2010 10:56:32 AM According to Marcus Hayes of the Philadelphia Daily News, neither Andy Reid of the Virginia Beach police know what to call Michael Vick.. "Right now we don't have a category for him", a police spokesman told the paper. That is a long way from Friday's statement when the police "had no interest in Vick" after a shooting that took place outside the restaurant where hw was hosting his 30th birthday party. How much time elapsed between him leaving and the shooting early Friday morning, as well as more witness evidence, has changed that stance.Police confirmed that Tuesday they received a surveillance video which shows Vick and his entourage leaving the restaurant only minutes before the shooting this conflicts with the version of events given by Vick's attorney and Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, both of whom claimed Vick left long before the shooting occurred. Police do not yet label Vick a suspect or even a"person of interest" at this time but they are taking a closer look at exactly where Vick was at the time of the altrcation. Along with the video, other witnesses have come forward and both the police and Vick's federal probation officer are doing a thorough investigation. http://www.theredzone.org/BlogDescription/tabid/61/EntryId/7912/Citing-new-evidence--police-take-fresh-look-at-Vick-after-shooting/Default.aspx . |

Tony Dungy: 'The only thing Michael Vick is guilty of is using bad judgment' 7/1/2010 12:23:14 PM Former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy defended embattled Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick as the NFL examines whether Vick violated the terms of his 2009 reinstatement. Dungy, who mentored Vick after his reinstatement last summer following a 20-month sentence for a federal dogfighting conviction, told the AP that Vick needs to make better decisions according to Sean Leahy of USA Today. "The only thing he is guilty of is using bad judgment and attending and publicizing parties open to the public and utilizing his name to get people there. Hopefully he learns from this." http://www.theredzone.org/BlogDescription/tabid/61/EntryId/7917/Tony-Dungy---The-only-thing-Michael-Vick-is-guilty-of-is-using-bad-judgment-/Default.aspx .
