I get a call from Sister today, she tells me to swing by, she has something I might want to hear.

Uncle Tony is told that his 13 year old niece in Middle school (NC Public School) has her baby. For her Life Skills class, she is required to care for a realistic, life-sized baby that cries when it needs to be fed and burped, when its diaper needs to be changed, some have colic by design, the baby is required to be taken with the student wherever they go 24 hours a day, and needs to be put in a car seat if transported anywhere.

When the girls get the baby, they get a hospital bracelet just like the real thing, like they were just discharged from a hospital. The baby comes with a name, a name the student and everyone is supposed to use.

Her baby's name is Keesha, and I notice right away, she's black.

My sister told me that the white students in the class are required to take a baby of another race.

This is a thirteen year old, middle school student. The hospital bracelet alone creeped me out, to tell you the truth. The baby's cries sound real and are a little unsettling, it sure made their cat run for the upstairs bedroom.

Why would a public school teacher require white students to take a baby of another race?

Given that these "baby models" are capable of only the more annoying / time-consuming / irritating parts of being a baby, I wonder if the psychologists stopped to consider that this particular program might, in fact, increase racial prejudices - basically, the presentation is giving a white 13-year-old a thing that represents another race that has no redeeming value whatsoever and, in fact, has many negative aspects...

Do they provide you with a car seat and what happens if you got a big family and don't have any extra room for a fake baby?

It does look like the idea is to show kids how needy a newborn baby is.
There's no denying that.

My first thought was that a teacher from inside the system couldn't pass up an opportunity to try to breed the racism out of white people.

The parent(s) have to sign a form acknowledging the expense of the baby and if it is lost or damaged, they agree to pay to replace it.

Over the weekend, if the kids spend the night at someone's house, they are required to take the baby with them.

These are 13 yr olds, they have convinced them a car seat is required. Of course, adults know better.

Tending to carry things top far, I told my Sister that she should let my niece stay home from school on Friday. She said, why is that? I said, she should go downtown and apply for child support. After all, the exercise is made to be lifelike.

The whole thing is too weird for me.

It's my post and I'm already ready to move past it. The school systems have their way, they have the money, the support from the Media, and, in many cases, the Judges to clear the way for their crazy ideas.

Not to mention how the babies end up feeling biased about people of less color.

Yeah, but in the real world the teenage mother ends up making her parents take care of the kids. Cf. Crystal Mangum.

I think I would commend to my nephews and nieces of that age the services of a virtual baby sitter, known in this case as a box - preferably lined with some kind of sound absorbing material - for the duration of the exercise...

Hmmm...apparently they didn't see the recent report suggesting that white people should not be allowed to adopt black children, because of the racial identity problems said children may sustain. No, sorry, I'm not joking.

When I was in school, they made you take care of an egg, which was pretty sweet, because it tasted good fried up with some cheese on it.

That was my thought exactly as I read Tony's post.

But I also have to wonder if ALL the fake babies are black? If so, WHY would that be?

Or......hehehe........is giving the white kids a black baby to care for just a reminder of the cradle-to-grave responsibility they have as they go forward in life for our ancestors' sin (even if they never saw a slave in their lives or fought for the North)?

We got to take turns taking home a hamster for the weekend.

It creeped me out.

It got killed by some kid's dog who allegedly shook it to death.

If you've ever had to watch a pitbull terrier rip another dog to shreds, this sentence does not conjure up the happy vibes.
