What is the state of justice now in NC?

The key question to be answered is:

Could the Duke lacrosse case happen NOW, if the circumstances were to be repeated?

And the sad answer to that has to be, YES.

Because (aside from a single reform permitting the governor to intervene with a DA), THERE HAVE BEEN NO REFORMS.

The public remains uniformed as to the full extent of the attempted frame-up, and the complicity of its city officials.

The Duke student body remains uninformed as to the full extent of the complicity of its BOT and Admin.

The Duke law school is not examining all the ramifications of the case and is content to blame it all on Nifong (hence shortchanging their students)

The media has not fully reported on the extent and nature of the frame.

Could another lacrosse case happen in NC (where there are no speedy trial laws, no right to a Probable Cause hearing or a Bill of Particulars)?

Sadly, the answer still has to be, YES.
