August 8, 2007 "If you are satisfied with a declaration of innocence by the North Carolina Attorney General, even though there is no federal investigation of civil rights violations, there are no prosecutions of Crystal and the knowing Nifong enablers, there is no apology from Duke and instead there are confidential settlements to protect Duke and the Group of 88, then you are more easily satisfied than I am. The case began with a myth and should end with the truth, not a different myth. I have always wanted openness and needed reform in the criminal justice system and the way Duke operates." |

The DPD has not "paid" for the all-enabling, all-pervasive role that they played in trying to frame demonstrably innocent young men -- they haven't admitted any fault whatsoever. Many of Gottlieb's tactics were widely questioned and, yet, there was never any investigation into his behavior and his role in the frame. It is beyond ridiculous that not only was Gottlieb not fired, he was never even investigated! Despite flagrantly violating multiple police protocols and normal police operating procedures, despite engaging in flagrant witness tampering (Roberts) and intimidation (Elmo.) And it is very clear that he lied to his superiors about the evidence. Either that or Lt. CoP Ron Hodge was in on the frame. Addison too! Gottlieb remained a DPD officer in good standing until he made a derogatory sexist comment about a female police officer. The DPD needs to answer for their criminal behavior in this case! That's one of many reasons that I am still here. Edited by MikeZPU, Mar 10 2010, 08:14 PM.

I was just thinking of the scene towards the end of The Godfather where Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) deals with his brother-in-law. I would love to have a similar scenario with Gottlieb and say to him: "only don't tell me you didn't know she was lying all along, because it insults my intelligence." |
