. In the beginning, the Media simply denied many of the inevitable truths of Obamacare. They used emotional pleas and stereotyping and sometimes totally avoiding certain issues because the truth was ugly. Some serious journalists with the largest media outlets have analyzed the current bills and there are themes in their writing. If you read it closely, you see trouble, you see that care is not going to get better. You see the system is set up for people that don't have any insurance. Here are some themes from the reporting/analysis: Premium, high choice insurance is no better than regular, good insurance. They have to target and punish the better plans so those people don't use the scarce resources and they can't do an end-run around the system for the masses. Think of it like the Public School system, they need your tax money in this system. A Medicare oversight board would gain authority over reimbursement rates. That is reimbursement to Doctors and Specialists they are referring to. What is the effect of cutting the money paid to Doctors and Providers? What is the effect on Quality? They need to strongly dissuade most specialists and move them into primary care, working clinics. The Medicare oversight board will crack down on unnecessary tests. As a patient or a loved one of a patient, lessening tests doesn't sound so good. Your illness and disease better present itself in typical fashion and follow the script, or it just may cost you your life. Hospitals that commit medical errors will face costly Government-imposed financial penalties. This is also presented as - Hospitals that commit COSTLY medical errors. Some interpret that as those that rule out certain illnesses via those costly tests - and the patient testing turns out to be negative. Either way, Doctors are going to have bureaucrats looking over their shoulder and judging them. If you think of the Public School system again, this may be Government's attempt to punish hospitals that don't perform - that serve certain areas. Like No Child Left Behind has punishment with Teeth for Title one schools - schools serving people deemed at risk by Government standards, while giving no options to parents of children in white middle class areas. One can imagine how easily politics will be inserted into this Health system. And it never fails that we must suspend disbelief and buy into the fantasy that Government is suddenly going to be ultra-efficient - like the seemingly intelligent journalists that are so willing to take that blind leap. .
