Interesting confluence of announcements today from the WH. 1) Rethinking of holding terror trials in civilian courts- an issue about which Lindsey Graham and John McCain are passionate 2) Graham is a proponent of closing GITMO- I'm sure his interview with Fox this morning is posted somewhere 3) WH is indicating that an amnesty bill is being formulated- a BIG McCain/Graham issue You don't suppose there could be some "linkage" here, do you? |

Would not be surprised. The Karl Rove book Courage and Consequences sounds interesting. Listened to an interview that Matt Lauer had with Rove (part of a longer piece to run next week) that was thought provoking. |

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35725864/ns/us_news-security Administration close to 9/11 trials' reversal Advisers likely to recommend Obama opt for military tribunals, sources say updated 1 hour, 44 minutes ago WASHINGTON - In a potential reversal, White House advisers are close to recommending that President Barack Obama opt for military tribunals for self-professed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed and four of his alleged henchman, senior officials said. The review of where and how to hold a Sept. 11 trial is not over, so no recommendation is yet before the president and Obama has not made a determination of his own, officials said. The review is not likely to be finished this week. Officials spoke Thursday on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to discuss private deliberations. Attorney General Eric Holder decided in November to transfer Mohammed and the four other accused terrorists from the prison at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to New York City for civilian trials. That was initially supported by city officials, but was later opposed because of costs, security and logistical concerns. snip..... |

I saw where the Press is reporting in earnest the political linkages of the guy that shot a couple guards near the pentagon. They didn't really get interested in the political views of the Harvard Professor that opened fire. Sorry if O/T. . |

Lindsey Graham sounds like a Soros type elitist in his advocacy for amnesty for illegal immigrants. Remember that Soros has funded groups like LaRaza. Graham apparently is quite bipartisan with Rahm Emmanuel, also. http://www.poligazette.com/2008/11/08/lindsey-graham-praises-rahm-emmanuel/ Obviously a close relationship with John McCain: "Lindsey Graham: McCain's 'little jerk'" http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0408/9477.html "McCain and Graham aren't just friends. They're unseparable... Some call Graham a lapdog... one Senate aide, who called Graham and Sen. Joseph I Lieberman (I-Conn.) 'Pips' to McCain's Gladys Knight, said that Graham 'fawns over McCain like there's no tomorrow.'" Edited by foxglove, Mar 8 2010, 03:19 PM.
