(from the Ekstrand suit) :

Brodhead’s Acts in Furtherance of the Conspiracy to Fabricate
the “Racist” dimension to Mangum’s False Rape

On March 29, 2006, Duke University issued the following statement from Defendant Brodhead:

“Yesterday evening, Director of Athletics Joe Alleva and I met with members of the news media to discuss the situation involving the Duke men’s lacrosse team....At the news conference I was asked about the 911 tape involving a racial slur, which only became known late yesterday. I have now had the opportunity to listen to the tape. It is disgusting. Racism and its hateful language have no place in this community. I am sorry the woman and her friend were subjected to such abuse.”

Before issuing the press release, Defendant Brodhead did not inquire with defense counsel for any team member about the legitimacy of the plainly fraudulent 911 call.

-----------------

When did this call become known? Wasn't it known to the DUPD on March 14, and didn't they say it was only a ruse? And was the Duke hierarchy informed about this?

What exactly did Brodhead hear? He could only have heard that two women were walking (or riding) by a house and had epithets yelled at them. Did he ask the students first if this had taken place? (Wouldn't that be the first thing a teacher/administrator would do, before issuing a public statement?)

Why is Brodhead saying this on March 29th? Is it coincidence that this is the same time frame when Nifong and others begin to play up the race angle and play up the case (even though the original DPD/DUPD conclusion was that the charges were fraudulent?)

Everything brodhead did with this case was deliberate. There were no unknowns before brodhead spoke. This guy does not speak out about anything he is not 100% familiar with. He lied and he caused racial tensions within the communities of durham and Duke.
