Speaking of Reade, here is his new biography from Brown University's men's lacrosse team: http://www.brownbears.com/sports/m-lacros/mtt/seligmann_reade00.html Reade Seligmann Class: Senior Hometown: Essex Falls, NJ High School: Delbarton Height: 6-1 Weight: 225 Position: M The transition phase for Reade finally came to a close in 2009: He is now the multifaceted offensive threat that he and everyone around him knew he could be. After two years spent away from the lacrosse field, and then a return to the field in 2008 that was unfulfilling, Reade evaluated himself and his goals. What did he want? The man answered this question with actions, not just words. In 2009, he "streamlined" himself, shedding 25 pounds, and he changed himself from simply a power dodger into one of the best feeding midfielders in the country who still could run through his defender. Reade's greatness as a humanitarian has now been equaled by his greatness as a lacrosse player...2009: Won the Jim Tepper Award as Brown's Most Improved Player in 2009...Brown's fourth leading scorer with 33 points, netting 12 goals and handing out 21 assists, the most among midfielders...Scored the go-ahead goal against Cornell in the fourth quarter and added two assists against the Big Red. Scored a season high three goals against UMass, and distributed four assists against Bryant...2008: Received the Inaugural IMLCA Boston Market Humanitarian Award...Started five of 13 games for the Bears...Scored five goals and had three assists...Netted two goals in Brown's win over Delaware...Registered eight ground balls...Before Brown: Transferred to Brown from Duke...Two-time ACC Academic Honor Roll...Registered two assists over six games in 2005 and scored a goal, playing in six games, in 2006...Secondary School Background: A graduate of the Delbarton School where he lettered in lacrosse (3) and football (3)...Two-time All-Conference, All-Area, All-State and All-American in lacrosse...National Senior Showcase participant...Three-time All-Conference selection in football...Led Morris County in scoring (football) his senior year...Honor Roll every semester at Delbarton...Personal: The son of Philip and Kathleen Seligmann of Essex Falls...Has three siblings, Maxwell, Cameron and Benjamin...Enjoys snowboarding and surfing...History concentrator.w on the spring, and placing himself in great physical condition. His loss of 25 pounds from a year ago, all the while maintaining his strength, is testament to his determination to dominate in 2009...2008: Received the Inaugural IMLCA Boston Market Humanitarian Award...Started five of 13 games for the Bears...Scored five goals and had three assists...Netted two goals in Brown's win over Delaware...Registered eight ground balls...Before Brown: Transferred to Brown from Duke...Two-time ACC Academic Honor Roll...Registered two assists over six games in 2005 and scored a goal, playing in six games, in 2006...Secondary School Background: A graduate of the Delbarton School where he lettered in lacrosse (3) and football (3)...Two-time All-Conference, All-Area, All-State and All-American in lacrosse...National Senior Showcase participant...Three-time All-Conference selection in football...Led Morris County in scoring (football) his senior year...Honor Roll every semester at Delbarton...Personal: The son of Philip and Kathleen Seligmann of Essex Falls...Has three siblings, Maxwell, Cameron and Benjamin...Enjoys snowboarding and surfing...History concentrator ***** The 16th ranked Brown men’s lacrosse team will be the last Division I team in the country to open its 2010 season when the Bears take on Hofstra in Hempstead, New York on Saturday, March 6, starting at 1:00 p.m. at Shuart Stadium. Brown’s lacrosse program returned to national prominence over the last two years - winning the Ivy League Championship in 2008 and earning an at-large bid into the NCAA Championship last season. Under the leadership of head coach Lars Tiffany, the New England Coach of the Year in 2008 and 2009, last year’s Brown team made its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1997, before falling in overtime to Johns Hopkins in the NCAA First Round. Notre Dame Gets by Loyola 11-9 by Clare Lochary | BALTIMORE - Call it the luck of the Irish. “We were bad today. Our execution of the things we like to do, I think, was really not very good. I think we were fortunate that our guys found a way to make enough plays to win the game. That’s what we did well today,” said Notre Dame head coach Kevin Corrigan. It takes a bit of luck to win a game with eight ties and five lead changes, and that’s what the Irish had in their 11-9 win over Loyola in the third game of the Konica-Minolta Face-Off Classic at M&T Bank Stadium. They also had a fluid, improvised game that got points from six different players and overcame an average performance by senior goalie Scott Rodgers . snip Loyola senior attacker Collin Finnerty (3g) came alive after the break, scoring twice in a three-goal run put the Greyhounds up 6-5 at 10:32 in the third quarter. Neither team led by more than one until Earl got his third and final goal under heavy coverage to give the Irish an insurance goal with 48 seconds on the clock. |
