Battery backup has been going crazy since the snow began to fall. Power is very shakey here...

Report of an exploding transformer, now. I guess that explains the recent outages.

Okay, just went and turned on an outside light...

I'd say we have 6" of heavy, wet snow and it's still snowing hard.

Far more than predicted.

So, that explains that...

Another transformer went and I saw the flash through the window...

Power is very unreliable...

WRAL reported that your area got the most snow around here. 6", right?

We only have snow on the grass and windshields. Probably there were some slick spots earlier this morning. Schools here are on a 2 hr delay.

I'd say more like 7 or 8... Lee and Chatham counties closed schools, and I don't think any other counties needed to.

The thing is, it was such heavy wet snow that it broke a lot of tree branches and downed quite a few trees.

You can tell it's quite a bit of snow by how close it is to the air dam on the front of my Jeep, which is normally pretty far off the ground.

I spoke with my friend Amy who's in Sherrills Ford, NC. , she said that they already had about an inch on the ground at about 7 p.m.

Here in eastern Chatham County about a mile from Wake county we only got about an inch of snow. It is melting fast.
