MSNBC is reporting that Joseph Kennedy III is reportedly thinking about running for the congressional seat of William Delahunt (he who is under fire for his handling of the Amy Bishop murder of her brother in Braintree) should Delahunt decide not to run. Talk about six degrees of separation.

I think Delahunt was making noises about not running even before the Amy Bishop thing came up. The Dems have been looking for another Kennedy, any Kennedy, to run for national office.

Fox reporting that Jospeh Kennedy III has reconsidered and will not run. Given that he has just served eight months in his first (I believe) elected position that is probably a wise decision.

Kennedy is not in an elected position. He's an ADA- applied for the job and was hired. I don't know when he graduated from law school, but I don't think he's been practicing law very long.

He's 29. Haven't found when he graduated or passed the bar yet.

…. the younger Joe Kennedy, admiring the recent Harvard Law School graduate’s work on human rights and in the Peace Corps his great-uncle, President John F. Kennedy, founded.

As a Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic, Kennedy worked on an ecotourism project, helping locals take control of the tourist attraction and setting more reliable safety standards for local guides. Kennedy is featured in a recruitment video for the Peace Corps. In addition, Kennedy was technical editor of the Harvard Human Rights Journal and cofounded a program to help at-risk youth at a Boston public school.

I think he only took the bar exam last July (passed), so he didn't get sworn in as a member of the Bar until last fall- Oct/Nov 2009. (And we thought Obama was unqualified!)

Beyond his inexperience, it's interesting that Kennedy didn't think that his electoral chances were very good in the current environment. I imagine that he would have run, if he thought he'd win. :swf:

I think that you are right - he put his finger to the wind and found it was not blowing in the right direction.
