http://content.usatoday.com/communities/entertainment/post/2010/02/white-house-social-secretary-steps-down-/1 White House social secretary steps down The fallout from the White House party-crashers debacle continues: White House social secretary Desiree Rogers, the Obama pal who was the first black social secretary, will step down next month to pursue opportunities in the corporate world, according to the Chicago Sun-Times and the online magazine The Root. Her departure had been likely ever since the first state dinner in November, reports USA TODAY's Maria Puente, when Tareq and Michaela Salahi, two Virginia reality-show-wannabes who were not invited to the party, got into the White House and even rubbed elbows with the president and vice-president. The Secret Service later took most of the blame but Rogers also was faulted for failing to ensure that her staff was posted at the gates to make sure only invited guests got in, as had routinely occurred in previous administrations. Still, at the time, the White House said Rogers had no reason to resign. Now, she's changed her mind. Where's she headed? "As we turn the corner on the first year," Rogers tells the Sun-Times, "this is a good time for me to explore opportunities in the corporate world." |

Protect the brand. Clearly she was a DIVA and actually having to work at her job was beneath her. |

Affirmative action in action. She will, unfortunately, land a Michell O type job with some Fortune 500 company looking to get in tighter with the Obama adm...like GE. |

Desiree - you moron - I can read 'doublespeak' faster than you can say it. And when you say 'opportunities' instead of specifically naming that job opportunity and when you say future tense - 'exploring' - instead of past tense - 'found' - said opportunity, than it's clear that you're not leaving, you're being expelled. Yup, that thumping noise we're all hearing is the sound of your ugly butt crunching beneath the wheels of 'Bama's bus. (Say hello to his granny while you're down there, okay?) Between me and you, Desiree, if I were the First Lady, I'd have fired you just for that stupid "Look, ma! I glued paper towels to my butt!" outfit you wore at the banquet. But then again - if I was the same First Lady who thinks hooker belts and sweaters 3 sizes too small is 'fashionable', I'd probably ask to borrow your stinking dress. |

This is interesting. Apparently it's nothing to do with Desiree's gross incompetence and arrogance (and throwing innocent people under the bus for her own mismanagement) but instead because she seems to have pissed off one of the power brokers at the White House - Valerie Jarrett. http://www.politico.com/click/stories/1002/rogers_to_resign.html “As we turn the corner on the first year, this is a good time for me to explore opportunities in the corporate world,” Rogers told Chicago Sun-Times columnist Lynn Sweet, adding that it was “an honor and a privilege to serve this president and first lady, in what has certainly been a historic presidency.” Friends said that over the past weeks, it became increasingly clear that she would leave the post, because of rising tensions in the East Wing between her and Jarrett. Jarrett, Rogers and Susan Sher, Michelle Obama’s chief of staff, live in the same apartment complex in Washington, yet sources told POLITICO that there was increasing friction about who was in charge in the East Wing. Rogers’s ties to the Obamas reach back to Chicago — her ex-husband John Rogers was a major fundraiser and played basketball at Princeton with the first lady’s brother, Craig Robinson. Interesting fact about Desiree's ties via her ex-husband and Michelle's brother. Interesting in that it proves appointment to power in the White House is all about connections and nothing about competence. Edited by Carolyn says, Feb 26 2010, 06:54 PM.

A fool surrounds himself with fools. A good book about this presidency would be titled "All the President's Fools". |
