The comment about how CGM broke down during the ppt-based pick-any-three ID procedure. She got that from Nifong too. She specifically mentioned that during the interview to generate BOTH sympathy for mangum AND outrage against the LAX players. It was calculated. Edited by MikeZPU, Feb 24 2010, 03:49 PM.

That interview makes my blood boil. I warn Bill Anderson about not letting his blood boil, but this woman is absolutely despicable as well as incompetent, and she's still in power as a "senior editor." The pair of them sitting safe in the TV studio blathering on with no information, only deep prejudice against the lacrosse players! Listen to the way HKS says Reade's name. And they say no harm was done, no harm was done, the young men were declared innocent. Harm was done by the mainstream media as well as many many people in Durham, and the senior editor is STILL doing harm by her last little cute throwaway paragraph. Brian Meehan's (DNASI's) 98% non-exclusion result (for Dave Evans) based on DNA testing of a fingernail mixture solution -- THAT is accurately described as "inconclusive." That's what a "non-exclusion" result is -- it's an "inconclusive" outcome. As Meehan pointed out under oath, it was NOT a DNA match. Plus, given all the other DNA results, it meant absolutely nothing. |

You need to get a warning about high blood pressure before seeing this! Before seeing it, I had given Meadows the benefit of the doubt. Now, all doubt is gone. She made no objection to the Newsweek cover (as IIRC she did later, saying it wasn't her idea); she lauded Nifong (didn't criticize his 70 interviews); etc. etc. Look at what some other people had written BEFORE April 24 (the date of this video); THEY knew these charges were phony. Newsweek couldn't/didn't address those points? Probably at the editorial level the magazine was pushing the story, IMHO. |

Her nails-on-a-chalk-board 'Valley Girl' voice nauseates and angers me. "...Weh still dunnow wut haap-pened" Then why run a smear-job article if you don't know all the facts? Aaaargh |

If you looked at your article in Wikipedia and saw that you are portrayed as wrongly characterizing the lacrosse players, I would think you would be a little more careful years later in anything you said about those lacrosse players and their false accusers. But Susannah Meadows is oblivious still to the pain Mangum and Nifong and Brodhead and the rest inflicted on athletes, coach, families. Here is Susannah Meadows's "stub" on Wikipedia now: She covered the presidential campaigns of Howard Dean and John Kerry, the five year anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre and the rape allegations against lacrosse players at Duke University. She wrote the Newsweek cover story, "Sex, Lies & Duke" which played a key part in portraying the accused lacrosse players in an unfavorable light as the nation was riveted by a narrative of privileged white youth accused of a brutal rape. The accused were declared "innocent" by the North Carolina Attorney General thirteen months after the allegations made national headlines. She is a cum laude graduate of Duke. For clarity purposes, this interview was done before all the DNASI results were performed. I cant remember if it was accurate that the sBI tested the fingernail. They certainly would not have been able to determine "inconclusive" or 98% non-exclusive" or how ever Ms. cum LOUD said it. |

Ms. Meadows was being spoon fed by Nifong during that time period, and she ate it all right up. She faithfully repeated all the lies that he wanted her to spread. Was she so excited that she was getting scoops directly from the DA himself that she could not see that she was being manipulated by Nifong? |

Why do I think that Howard Dean and John Kerry would both have won at the same time if she had not been reporting on them so incompetently? "Senior editor"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

. One would think that a synopsis of the case at that time would include the Felony backgrounds of Mother #1 and Mother #2 - and the fact both Mothers (sic) changed their stories many times. Mothers seeking Deals too. How 'bout the fact Crystal claimed to the Police that night that there were FIVE assailants, and the Police report reflects this clearly. Susannah was hanging out with Juan Williams and they were doing the innuendo tour. She delivered for Newsweak. . |

Heck, Meadows is a novelist in her own right, given the fiction she wrote during the lacrosse case.

I wonder how many of "the 88" taught her at Duke. It sounds like she had more than a mild association with the Angry Studies Program. |

Yes, there definitely needs to be a warning to dose up on blood pressure pills before viewing the video. So, she learned more in her four weeks covering the story than she did in he four years? What in God's name was she doing at Duke? _ oh yes, drinking the koolaid of victimology. |

I just realized that some of what Ms Meadows said in this interview also gives us additional insight into what lies Kim Roberts agreed to tell to help Nifong's case, in return for the sweet deal he gave her (relative to the $25K she stole.) Meadows said that she had talked to Kim Roberts. Here's two points that Meadows made: 1. Kim Roberts told her that Mangum did NOT appear impaired at all when she first arrived. 2. Kim hinted to Meadows that the boys may have slipped something into the drinks that the boys gave them. Again, this is all just further evidence that Meadows was being spoon fed by Nifong, as it was his cockamamie idea about the use of a date rape drug. I'm sure that when Nifong found out that Levicy did not do a toxicology work-up on Mangum, he was like: another bonus! Now, I can leak to reporters speculations about the use of a date rape drug, because there's no bloodwork to refute it! |
