(3) EMPLOYER CONTRIBUTION. Employers that do not offer meaningful coverage or
make a meaningful contribution to the cost of quality health coverage for their employees
will be required to contribute a percentage of payroll toward the costs of the national
plan.

What is meaningful?

How will folks afford insurance anyway? If they can't afford it now, how will they afford it later?

The answer has got to be that the rest of us pay more to carry them...
One way or another.

The McDonalds $o.99 McDouble cheese burger will cost $2.99.

Problem solved!

I do not recall any part of the health care plan that was reducing policy prices or limiting profit margins for the underwriters.

I don't either, but Obama's Campaign promises and his "Barak Obama's Plan for a Healthy America" from his campaign website states that Obama's health plan will save the typical American family $2500 a year (through electronic records, exchanges, blah blah). So I'm guessing that people have assumed that their premiums would go down. Page 2 mentions the $2500 savings.

Here we have some signs of what's coming!

U.S. sets grants for health technology, job training

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Members of President Barack Obama's Cabinet will announce nearly $1 billion in grants on Friday to increase the use of health information technology, a White House official said, pushing a key component of Obama's healthcare overhaul and job creation plans.

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Labor Secretary Hilda Solis will announce nearly $1 billion in federal economic stimulus funds, the official said.

The money will be used to help make healthcare information technology available to over 100,000 hospitals and primary care physicians by 2014 and train thousands of people for careers in healthcare and information technology, the official said.

Sebelius will announce more than $750 million in awards for states and healthcare providers.

Solis will announce more than $225 million in Department of Labor grant awards that will be used to train 15,000 people in job skills needed to support careers in healthcare, information technology and other high growth fields.

The White House said grant recipients had identified about 10,000 openings for skilled workers likely to become available within the next two years.

Obama's push to overhaul the $2.5 billion U.S. healthcare system has foundered since Democrats lost a crucial seat, and effective control, in the U.S. Senate in a special election in Massachusetts last month.

The White House has pivoted away from healthcare to focus on job creation since that vote, mindful that the country's relatively high unemployment rate is a major concern for Americans. Friday's announcement is one of a series on job creation.

Republicans, who are united in their opposition to Democrats' reform plans, say they want Obama and his fellow Democrats to give up on bills reached last year after months of work, but the White House says it does not intend to do so.

The administration has contended that boosting the use of information technology in healthcare can help control skyrocketing costs, a central theme of the health overhaul push.

Obama Administration Makes Grants for Health IT

The Obama administration is awarding $975 million in grants to help states and health care providers adopt health information technology.

The grant money being announced Friday comes from the economic stimulus legislation passed by Congress last year and is part of the administration's push to get doctors, hospitals and others to move from paper to computerized record-keeping. Administration officials say the grants are designed to provide savings down the road by eliminating duplicative tests and time-consuming paper work.

The White House says the awards will help make health information technologies available to more than 100,000 hospitals and primary care physicians by 2014 while helping to train thousands of people for careers in health care and information technology.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is awarding $386 million to 40 states or entities selected by states to advance the exchange of health information at the state level. Sebelius is also granting $375 million to 32 nonprofits to help develop regional extension centers to assist health care workers on health IT issues.

Labor Secretary Hilda Solis is announcing around $225 million to support 55 training programs in 30 states to help give people job skills for the health IT field. The administration says around 15,000 people should get training.

I'm at a loss trying to find any immediate or future savings through our tax dollars paying for improvements in the method of "record-keeping" operations for a private entity. The convenience of direct entry of data will not much of a super-savings we'll see on the bill for the services provided.

It may be helpful IF the data required increases and all must be shared at a CENTRAL location, the source I anticipate Big Brother will provide.

Kiss your medical privacy rights buh bye!

If they had any guts they would have laughed in BHO's face, told him to stick it, and held their OWN Health Care Summit and invited him to come and LISTEN.
Well said. The republicans have proven to be a bunch of pantywaists. I hope their days are numbered too. Every member of congress except Scott Brown, needs to be unemployed. And the jury is still out on him.

Absolutely! Let's not forget this mess wasn't made in one-two-ten-or twenty years! The Democrats and Republicans have held the power in this country for over 100 years. Each Congress they compete for who can stick their hands in our pockets and fleece us.

DC is as corrupt a place on Planet Earth. They are on a shopping spree with our future.

The downfall of last Sept 2008 was decades in the making. It started in DC long ago. Obama is just the current big liar to hold down the job. Yes there have been a handful of good Presidents, but only a handful.

Can we save our Republic? I think Sarah needs to stay outside of the machine. She is better as a lightening rod throwing down her zingers at those fools.

I really don't know the solution, I just want DC out of my pocket and stop trying to run my life. Is that asking too much? Power needs to be wrestled away from DC and given back to the local community who should decide. We are out of balance.
