I really don't see any reason to go to this thing...I can't imagine anything good for the GOP. Well, maybe Zer0 will make a mistake... http://michellemalkin.com/2010/02/09/oba-kabuki-places-everyone-places/

. Republicans let the media direct them all too often. They think they can "flip" the media with their personal charm, only to be handed their heads. Getting to be a real old story. Obama has said they aren't starting over. Edited by Mason, Feb 10 2010, 07:59 AM.

Mr. F.always advises before a tough meeting, analyze your own weaknesses and liabilities every which way. Perpare as long as it takes to respond to them. This is how they come at you so this is where you prepare. Review past criticism. Use that to pdate your counteroffensive. What's so hard...these guys are supposed to be our leaders. Everyone knows the Dem "talking points"..."the party of NO"...Obama has become predictable. He has shown he isn't much off his prepared statements. I bet everyone of us can anticipate how he will spin and phrase. Prepare. This could be great day to be the voice of the great any mass of Americans out here. Mr. President, you call us The Party of No. In the last three elections, the people are telling YOU.... "NO!" We get it. What part of NO! don't YOU understand?" Off topic..I hate posting on this teeny computer. Edited by Joan Foster, Feb 10 2010, 08:14 AM.

I thought some Republicans made excellent points last week (or 10 days) ago when Obama addressed them, but what happened? The media showed the clips of Obama chiding and lecturing them - and refused to show or report on the excellent points made the republicans that flew in the face of Obama's long term lies. This must be factored in too. A lot of Republicans have come and gone thinking they were going to get that "fair shake." . . Edited by Mason, Feb 10 2010, 08:18 AM.

Rush, Drudge, Fox and the internet will get the message out ...especially to the very peoplewho are most important. Anyone getting their news from the MSM now...is too far gone to bother about. The anger out here is not coming from the Koolaid press. or its devotees. They haven't driven Sarah into hiding, or infected the last few elections, have they. I say, bring it on, Mr. Teleprompter.BRING YOUR BEST GAME. (Bring your birth certificate too...only teasing.) Edited by Joan Foster, Feb 10 2010, 08:27 AM.

Respectfully, I don't think the above got out the word that Obama finally admitted that the legislative Healthcare bill violated his promise of people being able to keep their current Doctor and keep their current Insurance. The word didn't get out on that one, IMO. Obama is flooding the zones with outlandish items. Notice how Billions wasted is not a big story anymore? . |

Joan is right. The MSM does not have a hold on the public anymore. The Republicans should not cower in fear of the MSM. Eric Cantor should hear from the public that he and the other Republicans should not fold. |

The Republicans should hold out for a "clean slate" approach. Obama wants to take his 2000 page bill and have the Republicans tell him what they want to add, not what they want taken out. The Republicans for PR purposes almost have no choice but to go to the meeting and say we tried. |

The message of the MSM did not stop Brown. Working from the present health care bills is the 'same old..." and the public has already said "no". |

Well, Limbaugh said today this idea (of a trap for the Repubs) was cooked up AFTER Obama spoke to republicans at a Retreat - and the media loved it and reported how Obama carved them up. They said it was the best thing they ever saw. (my note: reality was much, much different). So Obama's handlers saw that Press reaction and thought, wow, if we could only get the GOP in and let Obama set them up. Limbaugh says the deal is already hatched and they plan to do the reconciliation (nuclear option) and then procedurally later have the house get their stuff in (or passed later). Limbaugh also said there is a fake or distorted Poll that was essentially produced to get the GOP to come to the Obama trap. Limbaugh stated that there has been a large, coordinated effort of prominent Dems being run out on all networks today to talk up this poll. The Poll is to force the GOP into the trap, in his opinion. That polls showed that 65 percent (or something) think the Republicans haven't done enough to pass Health Care reform. I agree in that this is all stemming from the greatly favorably reporting Obama received at the retreat. The media successfully blocked the damaging interactions from getting out - and sliced up the other interactions and didn't place them in proper context. That media reaction blew wind into Obama's sails and they're going back to Obama's great oratory skills and "overwhelming personality." The GOP cannot sit there and take Obama's distortions as almost everyone believes they will. They need someone to stand up and say - you lie, Mr. President. That is a very unlikely scenario. . I agree with you. He didn't do well. In a open debate he is the one that would get carved apart. I am guessing in the meetings he is going to keep his mouth shut and let the people that know what they are talking about on his side do the talking. Then he will chime in every once in a while with a little can't we all get a long BS. |

He does well if there aren't follow-ups and they sit on their hands. Which I fear will be the case. Obama doesn't answer questions - he gives the questioner some credit, he restates the question briefly, transitions it to his message, and then goes full on-message (which may or may not be truthful). At the end, he dodges almost every question. . Edited by Mason, Feb 10 2010, 04:48 PM.

Yep, that is what he does. And since he is the president there is never a follow up to his blatant lies. The media then reports what he says as the gospel. |

I am uncomfortable about this thing. A combination of the Democratic spin, the stature of the presidency, and the connivance of the Cool Aid Press might be just too much to beat. Unfortunately, not all of Zero's handlers are dumb... |
