FEBRUARY 9--Felony snowball throwing charges have been leveled against two Virginia college students for allegedly pelting a city plow and an undercover police car during Saturday's blizzard. Charles Gill and Ryan Knight, both 21, were nabbed by cops in Harrisonburg, where they attend James Madison University. According to police, the pair first targeted a city plow last Saturday afternoon. The driver responded by calling cops to report the frosty fusillade. When police responded to the scene in a bid to identify the assailants, their unmarked vehicle also came under an icy assault. Gill and Knight, a guard on JMU's basketball team, were then apprehended and booked into jail for throwing missiles at occupied vehicles, a felony. Gill (top) and Knight are pictured below in Rockingham County Sheriff's Office mug shots. If convicted of the felonious snowball tossing, the men each face between one and five years in prison, and a maximum $2,500 fine. (3 pages)

Males on the loose!

This is getting as bad as Duke, where students are accused of "SUSPICION" of throwing water during a water fight.

It's about time for the local police to give more time to these egregious anti-social violations and less time chasing peddlers of harmless hallucinogens and non-existent terrorists!

‘Prank' lands UNC student in stinky mess

Feb. 9, 2010

(snip)

The suspect — others may have been involved, as well — apparently had left a burning bag of dog feces on the doorstep of the home owned by E. Wayne Pickens.

Tymkowych said Pickens was awakened after 4 a.m. to the sound of his doorbell. He opened the door to find a bag that was burning on his front steps. He noticed the flames going out, so he decided to wait to see if the culprit returned.

Donahue returned, apparently to re-light the bag, but this time, Pickens stopped him in his tracks. He called police around 4:30 a.m.

“He goes back up on the porch and is confronted by Mr. Pickens, who detained him for us,” Tymkowych said. “There was a struggle, and Mr. Pickens got minor injuries.”

Tymkowych said Donahue was attempting to re-light the fire; police recovered matches at the scene. Tymkowych said there were likely others involved in the incident, but Donahue was the only person caught.

Police do not yet have a motive for the incident, Tymkowych said. He added that Pickens had recently called in a noise complaint on some of his student neighbors, but he wasn't sure if Donahue was one of those neighbors.

Donahue was arrested on suspicion of first-degree arson, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, third-degree assault and possession of alcohol by a minor. He was taken to Weld County Jail early Sunday morning, and posted a $15,000 bond Monday morning. Formal charges are expected Feb. 16.

The arson charge alone is a felony, punishable by four to 12 years in prison at most, while the remainder are misdemeanors. The alcohol charge is a petty offense.

[Yep. Threaten a college kid with prison for a college prank. (Notwithstanding that it was a stupid and potentially dangerous prank; or that it was a sophomoric thing to do--that's why we call them sophomores.) How about just suspending him for a semester or making him do community service? But why do that when he can be given a felony arrest record and made to do hard time? (Gottlieb sure
picked the right state to work in...)]

Probation, fine, community service and 5-7 costly classes in various organizations, anger management first on the list.
