If you want to know how bad a candidate McCain was, he was considered for VP by John Kerry in the 2004 election.

Those who voted for Obama voted for a mirage. It looked good from the distance until you got up close and realized there was no there there.

It is not nice to say I told you so, so I won't say it.

The lack of experience, the failure to present his records, his twenty years sitting in Trinity Church were all sitting in front of the electorate.

His plan was insane and yet people bought it. They fell "in love."

He has some cult leader personality traits

1. Glibness/Superficial Charm

Glibness is a hallmark of psychopaths. They are able to use language effortlessly to beguile, confuse, and convince. They are captivating storytellers. They exude self-confidence and are able to spin a web that intrigues others and pulls them into the psychopath's life. Most of all, they are persuasive. Frequently they have the capacity to destroy their critics verbally or disarm them emotionally.

2.. Manipulative and Conning

Cult leaders do not recognize the individuality or rights of others, which makes all self-serving behaviors permissible. The hallmark of the psychopath is the _psychopathic maneuver_, which is essentially interpersonal manipulation "based on charm. The manipulator appears to be helpful, charming, even ingratiating or seductive, but is covertly hostile, domineering... [The victim] is perceived as an aggressor, competitor, or merely an instrument to be used ... The manipulation inevitably becomes the end-all and is no longer qualified by the reality principle." In other words, there are no checks on the psychopath's behavior -- anything goes.

The psychopath divides the world into suckers, sinner, and himself. He discharges powerful feelings of terror and rage by dominating and humiliating his victims. He is particularly successful when, through an overlay of charm, he makes an ally of his victim -- a process sometimes described as emotional vampirism or emotional terrorism.

3. Grandiose Sense of Self

The cult leader enjoys tremendous feelings of entitlement. He believes everything is owed to him as a right. Preoccupied with his own fantasies, he must always be the center of attention. He presents himself as the "Ultimate One": enlightened, a vehicle of god, a genius, the leader of
humankind, and sometimes the most humble of the humble. He has an insatiable need for adulation and attendance. His grandiosity may also be a defense against inner emptiness, depression, and a sense of insignificance. Paranoia often accompanies the grandiosity, reinforcing
the isolation of the group and the need for protection against a perceived hostile environment. In this way, he creates an us-versus-them mentality.

4. Pathological Lying

Psychopaths lie coolly and easily, even when it is obvious they are being untruthful. It is almost impossible for them to be consistently truthful about either a major or minor issue. They lie for no apparent reason, even when it would be easier and safer to tell the truth. This is sometimes called "crazy lying". Confronting their lies may provoke an unpredictably intense rage or simply a Buddha-like smile.

Another form of lying common among cult leaders is known as _pseudologica fantastica_, an extension of pathological lying. Leaders tend to create a complex belief system, often about their own powers and abilities, in which they themselves sometimes get caught up. "It is often difficult to determine whether the lies are an actual delusional distortion of reality or are expressed with the conscious or unconscous intent to deceive."

These manipulators are rarely original thinkers. Plagerists and thieves, they seldom credit the true originators of ideas, often co-opting authorship. They are extremely convincing, forceful in the expression of their views, and talented at passing lie detector tests. For them, objective truth does not exist. The only "truth" is whatever will best achieve the outcome that meets their needs.

There are more traits. Americans were captured under a spell. It has happened many times in world history.

I differ from most here in that I think the popular culture and the average voter has a different opinion of Obama that what is espoused here.

When I can turn in to SNL any night and see them doing skits portraying Obama as dumb (or imcompetent), and every TV comic takes to doing Obama stupid/incompetent jokes, then I will change my opinion.

I was just reading an article about the Tea Party convention in Nashville and Palin's involvement that pointed out another factor Zero had over McCain; the internet connection.

Foolish of me to overlook that in our discussions here.

That is happening bit by bit. Frankly, I am surprised at how much the comics have poked at him up to now. It will only become more pronounced as the economy continues to sour, the promises he so glibly made are not realized, and the msm increasingly chides him for hs "blame Bush" strategy. Yes, there will be those true believers who will continue to support him and who will attempt (ala Sharpton and Jackson) to see any criticism of Obama as racism - however, that will not hold true with the majority of the electorate who will want more than a smaller paypacket, broken promises, and increased fear of terrorism.

Baldo, all your points are right on the spot. Obama himself told Harry Reid that he had a gift. His gift was having all 4 of those traits and a lot of BS.

Sen. Reid Says Obama Told Him, 'I Have a Gift'

AP

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid writes in a memoir that President Obama told him he "has a gift" when it comes to public speaking, a comment that could be interpreted as bragging.

WASHINGTON -- Everyone knows President Barack Obama can deliver a great speech, including the president himself, according to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

The paperback version of Reid's memoir, "The Good Fight," is coming out May 5 with an epilogue called "The Obama Era." Reid said he was impressed when Obama, then a first-year senator from Illinois, delivered a speech about President George W. Bush's war policy.

Democrat Reid writes: "`That speech was phenomenal, Barack,' I told him. And I will never forget his response. Without the barest hint of braggadocio or conceit, and with what I would describe as deep humility, he said quietly: `I have a gift, Harry."'

A copy of the book's 15-page epilogue was provided to The Associated Press. Reid said in an interview he hesitated about citing Obama's comment because he knew it could be interpreted as bragging.

"To be honest, my wife, she said, `don't tell people that,"' Reid said. "She's afraid it could be taken the wrong way. But she's heard me tell lots of people that, and every time she goes `don't do that.' Now it's there for thousands of people to read."

Reid said in the book that he talked to Obama in 2006 about running for president, and Obama expressed doubts about his ability to win.

"I was resolved to stay neutral in the coming campaign, but I told him that in my view the stars could align for him. `If you want to be president, you can be president now,' I said. `I don't know, Harry,' he said. `I don't think so."

I agree, cks. Remember that old definition of a conservative: "It's a liberal whose kid has been bussed."

And didn't that prove true.

People are hurting. He sold them a bill of goods. If he does not deliver..or worse yet, creates solutions that make most people's lives more difficult...it won't matter what's being laughed at on SNL.

Obama has the Media, Obama has the young people, Obama has the minority vote.

There is that pesky business cycle too - 2.5, 3 years is a long time.

Most people, IMO, would expect a turnaround in that time.

We know the game plan. It was Bush's fault if things go bad. It will be "me" if things go well.

I am sure some will believe it. After-all he was elected on Hope & Change.

But in the end, "It will be the economy stupid!"

Unless we have another terrorist attack and then it will be "Hasta la vista, baby" no matter what

The young people are unemployed- or underemployed- now. Those six-figure jobs have gone away and many are back living at home, wondering what happened as their parents are cutting costs too and watching Fox News. We'll see how they feel in 2010 and 2012.

They bought that Green Energy Hype, jobs out of no where. The kids had been raised on it in our schools. Polar Bears and fuzzy mascots telling all we need is to be green and the oil and coal companies are evil.

The only thing that will save us is reality. Drill in ANWR, Drill off our coasts. We can drill safely. Use our natural gas! Build Nuclear Power Plants, use our coal, use our Shale Oil Deposits. Our Resources are our Ace in the Hole.

By all means continue research into alternative energies, but Energy is what makes a country wealthy. It is a beautiful idea we can become a green energy country with Mr. Rodgers on every street corner, but it is far from reality and will take decades at best.

And we don't have decades

The last I heard 98% of the black community in polling stated they favored Obama. 98%!

Didn't Saddam Hussein, make the claim that 99% voted for him when he was relected as president of Iraq, wow 98% is pretty close? I will never understand, why the AA community calls everyone racist, when 98% of the AA community votes for Obama. Did they vote for him because he is qualified to be POTUS or because he is black? Then again if there is any racism, it is not coming from the white community, because if all the white people voted against Obama, he wouldn't be POTUS.

Using that line of thinking, maybe "all the white people (WHO) voted against Obama" showed racism. Why else would you vote against the "ONE"?

I agree with Mason that the "average" voter in America is not informed. Some are continuing to watch the MSM networks and read their newspapers. Some don't even care enough to do that much so they suck the pap being feed to them by the left. Yes Obama is a cult-like figure and what have we learned from history about those kinds of leaders. They bring nothing but havoc and destruction and destroy everything in their path. When I see pictures of some of his campaign appearances, it was hard not to think of Jim Jones.
