Can anyone remind me EXACTLY WHAT was the rationale? Was it just the "prestigious" school credentials? The skill speaking with a teleprompter? Remind me of what these BRILLIANT PEOPLE who so resoundingly supported this man ...used to support their argument that he was qualified? What? Because they are starting to look as dumb and naive as he is proving himself to be. Obama is not a great SPEAKER...he is a good READER...there is a difference. His administration seems disorganized and devoid of a coherent message. So remind me...what did all these smart people see in Obama? What exactly were Obama's credentials to lead the Free World? |

Democrats on Capitol Hill and beyond say they have no clear understanding of the White House strategy – or even whether there is one – and are growing impatient with Obama’s reluctance to guide them toward a legislative solution. Take the past two weeks. Since Democrats lost the Massachusetts Senate race, Obama or his top advisers have suggested all of the following: breaking the bill into smaller parts, keeping it together in one comprehensive package, putting it at the back of legislative line and needing to “punch it through” Congress, as Obama himself said Tuesday. The latest comment came during a Thursday fundraiser when Obama described the “next step” as sitting down with Republicans, Democrats and health care experts. “Let's just go through these bills — their ideas, our ideas — let's walk through them in a methodical way so that the American people can see and compare what makes the most sense,” Obama said, describing a process that could take weeks, if not longer. He first floated the idea during his State of the Union speech almost three weeks ago, but top congressional aides in both parties said Friday that they still have no idea what the president was talking about. Even the White House struggled to explain what Obama had in mind. On Friday, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said there was no meeting on the schedule. At the same fundraiser, Obama seemed to acknowledge for the first time that Congress may well decide to scrap health care altogether – an admission that blunted his repeated and emphatic vows to finish the job. “I’m not sure where the White House is right now,” said Ralph G. Neas, a longtime progressive activist who is now the head of the National Coalition on Health Care. “But I do believe that given everything that has happened, the time has come for more forceful presidential leadership. That is the only way to close the deal. That kind of leadership involves providing more precise guidance to Congress and a clear case to the American people on how this benefits families. The president must step up and wield the power of his office.” Read more: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0210/32619.html#ixzz0emX5sdlT Edited by Joan Foster, Feb 6 2010, 01:28 PM.

Obama has acted just as a community organizer. The answer is always directed (or targeted) Government dollars. That's his only answer. He wasted almost a Trillion dollars, in his stimulus-enrichment plan. It was like they gave the Federal Checkbook to Al Sharpton. . Edited by Mason, Feb 6 2010, 01:42 PM.

But WHAT were the reasons he was deemed to be qualified? Or is there "electable" the trump card over "qualified?" Was he viewed as so supremely electable that the Dems were not concerned about qualifications? Do any of you remember ...when folks told us they wanted HIM...WHY they said they did? |

My guess it is a result of the Golden Age of Branding. The incessant promotion that sells products with tailored phrases and images. They created the "Obama Brand." The baby Boomers were brought up on Madison Ave Ads. The "Internet" generation have little understanding of our history and the inability to focus. For that matter few understand the Consitution. Obama is cool. Looks great in a suit, plays basketball, half black and half white, delivers a speech well, and could spin a yarn that he was post racial and post partisan. Unfortunately his resume sucks as an executive. He has no experience running even a corner store, ZERO! He wouldn't be chosen to be the CEO of any Fortune 500. So we elect him President of the most powerful country in the world? To make matters worse he came from the most corrupt political machine in the USA, Chicago! We chose the flashy door three. What did we expect? Next time DEMAND a Resume that proves a candidate can actually do something in a leadership & executive role. It doesn't speak well for us. We chose significance over reality. Yes, those were some of the selling points. Not one concrete qualification among them. Dolts and idiots scammed by an empty suit. |

I just heard a report - Facebook has a place where you ID your political beliefs in your profile. Many people put Democrat or Republican - or Liberal or Conservative or libertarian. However, they said that one of the top three people labeled themselves as - was - OBAMA. Political Beliefs = Obama Tells you something. He still has a huge cult following. The last I heard 98% of the black community in polling stated they favored Obama. 98%! Edited by Mason, Feb 6 2010, 01:58 PM.

Great post, Baldo. Most of us would put more effort into choosing someone to share an apartment with. Not our progressive friends! And they sneer at Sarah Palin. |

He was sold as a once-in-a-lifetime person. He had special qualities - he was a great person. They cleverly didn't discuss QUALIFICATIONS. It was about Barack Obama, the person - or the deity. I believe the terminology they kept using in the press was - a once-in-a-lifetime leader. Did anyone hear Joe Biden carve up Obama's qualifications in the Democratic Primaries? He said it all, but they quickly buried that and it was not discussed. . |

In truth, Obama didn't know his way around the Senate. He did what he was told as a neophyte Senator - and he usually mailed it in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQs7w4YhNo4 Obama (the supposed great outsider) looked up to the ancients in the Senate, people that had done nothing else in their lives. This was apparent when Obama, as President-elect, let Barney Frank and Chris Dodd dictate the plan for the "financial recovery," even when they had driven us down to path to trouble. When you saw him back in the Senate, the dynamics were apparent - Obama didn't carry any respect among the Senate veterans. . Edited by Mason, Feb 6 2010, 02:03 PM.

I don't think he cared about being a senator anyway. He was basically running for higher office before he ever got elected. He missed many votes. Some of it could have been by design so he didn't have a record. Even then his voting record was to the left of Bernie Sanders. His record in Illinois wasn't any better. But the media went along with the myth that he was in the middle of the political spectrum. |

It all seems like nauseating romantic gibberish now. Here's the battered bride dragging herself home from the emergency room...remembering how she sold this loser to her friends. "The One." I just keep remembering the PRIDE ...the sense of superiority to have been among the first to recognize the Greatness among us. The arrogance of never having to explain WHY...well, if you couldn't see how qualified Obama was...your own intellect or education was lacking. Well, here's your Great Leader now! Even the Dems can't figure out what course this Bufffoon is on. Nothiong special or smart or gifted about him. Hauling a telepromtor to an elementary school classroom! BWAAAAHHH!!!!
