I thought BHO was at the Duke-Georgetown game with a former Duke player ( forgot his name)??? But I knew as soon as I saw him the game was jinxed for Duke. I would have PAID him to stay away. After all, everyplace he has shown up, he has caused his team to fail. Go home to MOBAMA and let Biden go home too. Every time we saw Biden he was doing some kissing up toward BHO. But you can see his distaste if you look at his face. Other than for toothpaste commercials, these guys are not pretty. I thought about the fact they were both in the arena at the same time. Wonder how long it took security to seat all those fans? And I thought about what a great target it would make for our enemies. But wait. Why would our enemies want to do that? Isn't BHO hurting is more than they could? |

I have been reading a lot today about the Edwards scandal. I have to say that aside from his children, I really feel a lot of empathy for his elderly parents. Just think about it for a moment. You work in a textile mill as a supervisor, you never dreamed your son would someday become a successful lawyer let alone a candidate for President. Then you find out that he mocks the very people he came from and that the daughter in law that you embraced calls you hicks and rednecks behind your back. Can you imagine living to old age and having that revelation? I have no sympathy for Edwards, but I feel so sad for his humiliated parents. |

I didn't realize they were still alive. How sad that they lived to see him destroy his entire life and reputation. |

http://www.wral.com/news/local/politics/video/6867122/ Wade Smith discussing Edwards with WRAL. Best line: "We wanted John to be real." |

It makes me proud when Hooligans can attack issues and hypocrites with a vengeance, and still hold out sympathy for the innocent ones who are caught in the vortex of the damage. Edwards parents and Rielle's baby come to mind. |

Re: BHO at the Duke game, etc. I once heard Coach K say of the great Shane Battier "I told him when he became President of the US, I wanted him to appoint me Ambassador to Poland" Shane was a Democrat at that time, I believe. To his credit, I didn't see him doing much cozying up to BHO. |

There is a huge difference in the way Smith handled the LAX case and the way he is handling this case. I guess the difference is he knew for sure the criminal charges against the players were lies. I dont think he knows, yet, how bad the criminal charges are against edwards or even if edwards is innocent. |

Was it just me, or do others think that Wade Smith seemed genuinely sad and disappointed about John Edwards in that interview? |

They were at the Democratic Convention when he was nominated for VP. I am assuming they are still living although they have suffered much and probably wish they were not here to witness the demise of John's ambitions. I think we become more fragile and emotional as we age and I can only imagine how these very good people have been suffering. I don't know Wade Smith's age, but I would suspect that when John began his practice in Wade's firm as a young lawyer, he was the age of Smith's children. Perhaps Smith sees him as a wayward son. Now I have to challenge my own statement here because John was probably wayward long before Rielle entered the scene. |

I'm not much of a basketball fan, but I LOVE Shane Battier! When he's the spokesman for the Rockets on the evening sports news, I listen. He's a great guy. RE: Edwards and the media- Do not forget that it was the votes that split for Edwards in Iowa that kept Hillary from wiping out Obama and lent credibility to Obama's bid for the presidency. If the media HAD exposed Edwards, Hillary most probably would have been the Democratic nominee! |

You defend guilty clients differently from innocent ones. Wade Smith is the former chairman of the North Carolina Democratic Party. He knows who is innocent and who is not. Edwards hired him because of their personal connection and because Wade knows how to cut the deal when it needs to be cut. There will come a time when Wade Smith and the US Attorney are sitting down across the table from one another. Then and there, some horses will get traded and the pretty pony will get fitted for some prison khakis. Walt-in-Durham |
