Sorry I was so blunt but I respect the truth and my fellow Blog Hooligans.

Back to Scott Brown's victory.

It is my hope it is a watershed moment for both political parties.

For the Blue Dogs I hope they do indeed wrestle back their party from the left, but I have my doubts it is possible.

For the Republicans I hope the party leaders rid themselves of the foolish idea they must move left to gain more acceptable. They must return to fiscal conservatism, something that Bush didn't do.

Both parties have been an embarrassment to the duties that we elected them for. However right now the Democrats are on a course of action lead by Obama which I believe is heading up to disaster. They must be removed by voting them out of office. Then whomever takes their place must realize it is our future, our debt, our children's lives which is being wasted on Porkzilla.

Well, one can say this for Liestoppers - one learns something new every day. I, for one, have obviously lived a much more sheltered life than I previously had thought. I was trying on my own (without consorting other sources) to puzzle out what the sexual connotation of the term was. Boy, was I way off!
I have not lived a sheltered life and never heard the any sexual connotation in my life. Nor do I care about it or Urban Dictionaries obscene definition.

Not a criticism, but now you are aware that that is today's definition going around. Gross as it is. If it were me, I would therefore refrain from using the term. Same goes for Schmuck Schumer.

It's officlal. The 41st senator.

http://bostonherald.com/news/opinion/editorials/view/20100205the_41st_senator/

The man whose election last month shifted the political landscape yesterday walked down the center aisle of the U.S. Senate and was sworn in as this state’s junior senator.

Scott Brown had been enjoying his victory lap - a weekend thank-you tour, a Barbara Walters interview, an appearance on the Jay Leno Show, local media interviews - all while trying to put together a senatorial staff.

He handled the somewhat prolonged election certification process with patience and with grace - until it became clear that the Senate might actually attempt to conduct some important business during the next week. It was then that Brown - through his legal counsel - demanded the process be expedited, and it was.

snip

And as he keeps reminding us all, he’s still just Scott from Wrentham and he drives a truck. Now just call him senator.

John Kerry is a pompous ass making such a comment. They had weeks to get their butts out of there.

http://bostonherald.com/news/politics/view/20100205scott_brown_makes_it_official_new_senator_takes_aim_at_stimulus_package/srvc=home&position=0

“The last stimulus bill did not create one new job,” Brown said after his swearing-in by Vice President Joseph Biden. “In Massachusetts, it hasn’t created one new job, and across the country as well.”

snip

Brown’s abrupt change of heart, insisting upon moving up his swearing-in date from next week, forced longtime Kennedy staffers to vacate immediately yesterday, though job offers from Brown are on the table for a few nonpolitical members of that staff.

“It might have been done a little more sensitively and thoughtfully,” Kerry told reporters.

Kerry: Brown's Senate arrival 'might have been done a little more sensitively'
By J. Taylor Rushing - 02/04/10 03:15 PM ET
Just hours before Massachusetts Sen.-elect Scott Brown is sworn into the Senate as the 41st Republican, Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) gently chided his future colleague for his sudden arrival and the upheaval it caused for Sen. Paul Kirk's (D-Mass.) staff.

Kerry told a group of reporters gathered just down the hall from Kirk's former office — and the office of the late Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.), whom Kirk had replaced on an interim basis — that it had been agreed that Brown would be sworn in next week, on Feb. 11.

Brown's sudden change of heart occurred with less than 24 hours' notice, forcing Kirk's staff to vacate immediately.

"Let me first thank Paul Kirk for his remarkable service. It's rather unfortunate that with less than 24 hours' notice, his entire office has to clear out," Kerry said. "It might have been done a little more sensitively and thoughtfully. But I think (Kirk's) service has really done Massachusetts proud, and we need to be very, very grateful to him for that."

Kerry emphasized he did not begrudge Brown for deciding to come to the Senate early.

"There are votes coming up, and that's how you measure what people are going to do around here," he said. "I suppose he wants to be a part of those votes, and he has every right to be. I understand that. Everyone here will welcome Scott Brown with open arms. We want to work with him... All I'm saying is we had agreed, all of us, that we were swearing him in on the 11th of February. And everyone was working towards that date, including the people in Paul Kirk's office. And then, in less than 24 hours, they're told they're out. That's hard for people, that's all."

Comment in Boston Herald. I remember the one of Burt.

Those Cosmo centerfolds were a lot of fun, for those of us old enough to remember, starting with the first one with actor Burt Reynolds. Many other celebrities followed him as a centerfold. The very liberated Cosmo editor Helen Gurley Brown was poking fun at the Playboy centerfolds. It was not porn. Dana Milbank wrote a satirical and/or condescending column two days ago in the Washington Post describing Brown as "senator centerfold." It's worth a read...and finally, what is offensive about nudity if it is tastefully photographed? I am still amazed at the people who are shocked over a 1982 photograph that contains only partial nudity. This is 2010 folks.

"Centerfold Senator"? How disrespectful.

Check out the swearing in video. Joe Biden screwed up reading the oath while readinig from a card.
