She was drunk, gave a cabbie a lap dance, stole his keys, stole his car, led police on a high speed two-county chase, was finally cornered on a dead end street, was approached by a cop, nearly ran him over while escaping from being cornered and then was finally stopped. She got a couple of weekends in jail and community service. The lawyer who got her this deal was Woody Van. |

I don't think any of them ever did any jail time. IIRC, the police didn't investigate since she dropped the matter. Her grandmother did not die from being pushed down stairs. The youngest of the four men she first accused of rape was in the process of being married when her prior accusations surfaced as a result of the LaCrosse case.He was fourteen years old at the time of the "rape". How much could he possiblly have been paying for the "privilege"of having sex with Mzzzzz Mangum? As far as rape is concerned,she was a lot bigger and, obviously, a lot older and more wiley than he was. The fact that she decided to falsely accuse a man that she had not seen in ten years on the eve of his marriage strikes me as significant ,however.I trust everyone remembers how she also falsely claimed in the Lacrosse case that she had been raped by a man who was on the verge of being married. Did her knowledge that her earlier victim was on the verge of being married spark off the marriage-rape story in the Lacrosse case ,or did her "success" in the Lacrosse case embolden her to accuse her youngest and most hapless victim when she heard that he would soon be married? Either way,even Nifong and Gottlieb knew that they could never win that one, even in Durham.A local jury might well convict three upper class white kids on Crystal's "evidence".They would never convict three black boys on an equally wild story. But Crystal,being what she was -and certainly is- doubtless experienced a great deal of satisfaction from the misery she inflicted on yet another pair of young lovers. Here are two excerpts from Himan's notes of CGM's Creedmoor "story": 1. "she stated three men Mr. Taylor, Anthony James and Larry James “ran the train on her” she stated she was very scared. " Where have we heard that one before? Remember CGM's words in the infamous N&O article "We were so scared." 2. "She stated years later she met her husband Mr. McNiel who she confided with about the incident. She stated he urged her to go report the incident so that she could have some closure and that she wont keep it a secret." Where have we heard this before? The young girl who falsely cried rape at Hofstra? She told her boyfriend that she was raped and he insisted that she report it to the police. ====================================================================================== CGM is a predator. She doesn't care about anyone but herself. Not even her own children. She could care less about destroying a person's life with her lies. And she is a pathological liar. She uses sex regularly, for a variety of reasons. She has no respect for her body. She has sex with many, many men, sometimes for money, or other favors. Thanks, Mike ZPU . And I think,while we're at it, extend Crystal's documented manipulation of others much further,but they are by no means all corrupt. There was,for example, Grandmother Gertrude whom Crystal had not bothered to visit in five years but who received a call from Cousin Jackie the night of the national publicized Baby Hoaxling scam(Remember Crystal was having a baby nine months to the day after the Lacrosse "Rape"?) Gertrude went national. But when she found out her no good granddaughter was faking her she did try to undo the damage.But who listened the second time around? |

a slightly off-topic conversation here good friend and I had a conversation about lbj's 'great society' ,, et al. I commented that many recipients were likely into 2nd generation of 'govt benfits' / zero career expectations/ no repercussions/ absoutely no need to seek employment / parent of multiple children by multiple 'fathers' / all 'paid for' by tax dollars -- other people's money. Truly, I was shocked by her further comment -- not 2nd generation of receiving benefits, rather 3rd or 4th generation demanding more govt payments (and receiving ) 14 yr olds with babies -- a 50 yr old 'parent' may be a great-grandparent '''' who raises these children? If you remember in the early days of the case that Nifong stated that he knew Crystal and her family because he handled a case of one of her family members. I think it was a murder trial, the family member was the victim. Second IIRC Nifong said something about his wife having connections to CGM's childern in a professional manner.
