I guess it should come as no surprised with the recent arrest of a Duke PD Officer caught with sex toys in Alabama that Duke University is studying Sex Toy Parties.

As one of our dear members would say, "You can't make this sh*t up!"

Toy Party Study

Reply to Toy Party Study

Female Duke students at least 18 years of age are needed for a study on sex toy parties. The nature of this study is sexually explicit. You will be asked to answer (confidential) written questions, view sex toys and engage in sexually explicit conversation with other female Duke students. However, what happens at the party stays at the party. The study will involve completing an online questionnaire about your sexual attitudes and behaviors, a visit to the lab for a 1 hour “party” with 7-8 other women, and a post-party questionnaire to be completed online 2 months after the party. Each participant will be randomly assigned to a session, so please don’t expect to be able to sign up with friends and attend the same party. Compensation includes a gift bag as well as the opportunity to purchase items at a significantly reduced rate (ranging from $1 to $30). If you are interested please sign up at

CONSENT TO PARTICIPATE: Page 2 of 2

The party will be run much like sex toy parties in the real world. That is, a group of women will gather and get a brief introduction to a variety of products. The experimenter and participants will discuss how the products can be used to enhance healthy sexual behavior. The experiment has no particular script so the participants are free to discuss all aspects of sexual behavior. Once the demonstration and question period is over you will be able to purchase any of the toys or other products discussed in the study. Although other participants will know you are in the study, your purchases will be private and confidential.

Parties are social in nature and require that many people participate together. You will see other people at the party and they will see you. In order to ensure that everyone is comfortable asking questions in the company of others we ask that you agree to not reveal the identity of any other participant. In short, what happens at the party stays at the party.
The data you provide will be confidential. That is, we will assign a unique ID number to your name. Your responses to the pre-party questionnaire and the questionnaires administered during and after the party will be linked by this number. If you make purchases, we will keep a record only of your ID number. Once you have completed the study, we will destroy the key that connects your name to the ID. Furthermore, the consent forms and all the data you provide will be collected and kept completely separate from one another. Thus we will end up with data that cannot be linked to any individual; even we, the researchers, will not know who provided which data.
The instructions for each stage of the study will be explained again in detail at the beginning of each stage. Please read them carefully and feel free to ask questions now and at any time during your participation. If you have any questions about the studies please contact Janet Schwartz (js255@duke.edu) or Dan Ariely (dan.ariely@duke.edu). If you have any questions about your rights as a research participant please contact Duke’s Office of Human Subjects Protection at 684-3030 or ors-info@duke.edu.

Payment
There is no payment for this study. You will, however, be able to purchase the items you see at the party at a significantly reduced rate (we take FLEX).
Have you carefully read these instructions and wish to participate in the study? If you agree to participate in this study, please select "Yes" below and proceed to the next page. You will then be directed to a survey, sexually explicit in nature, that should take about 15 minutes to complete.

Swag bags of dildos!

What also bothers me is the covert message in the images of 50's Housewives. If I am correct it is a derogatory interpretation of women from our mother's generation. In truth they don't know how lucky we were to have these strong women. I think some are under the impression they were desperate lonely women.

One might think that sex toys are primarily for purposes of titillation.

But Duke VP Larry Moneta has the keen insight and deep mental
acumen to discern the educational value of using a sex toy.

(just as he was able to discern the educational value of the Sex Workers
Show versus hiring strippers to perform at a college party.)

In light of the best selling book "The Last Dance of Crystal Gail Mangum"
one goal of the study will be to determine the validity of using a broomstick
as an alternative sex toy, in the absence of standard sex toys when a
request is made for such, by strippers performing at a college party, for example.

Shouldn't these women invite those swaggering members of the lacrosse team to participate as well? Is this not an equal opportunity bit of *hit going on at Duke in the name of higher education.

I seem to remember this party taking place under the Women's Study program and Shadie (whatever her name) writing about it at The Chronicle.

Of course the Duke Student Health Center Web site comes to rescue for our future generation with the correct method of Anal Stimulation and Intercourse with tips on the insertion of sex toys.

http://healthydevil.studentaffairs.duke.edu/health_info/Anal%20Stimulation%20and%20Intercourse.html

Additional Tips

Anal stimulation and intercourse can be pleasurable for both partners if you follow a few simple rules:

•If it hurts, don’t do it.
•Listen to your partners and respect their wishes.
•If you start to experience pain or notice blood, stop immediately.
•Always use safer-sex devices such as condoms, gloves or finger-cots. Finger-cots are devices resembling male condoms, typically used to cover cuts and open wounds on fingers. They are usually found in the wound care and bandage section of the drug store.
•Use a new latex condom with each sexual act if alternating between anal and vaginal sex.
•Do not pass sex toys back and forth between partners.
•Avoid fisting and inserting very large sex toys into the anus.
•If complications arise, visit an understanding healthcare provider.

Whew! Visit an understanding healthcare provider and stay away from the very large sex toys! I am glad they are so caring!

Every now and then someone from the Catholic student center calls and requests a meeting or introduction. Often, it is a person newly elected head of the organization. I do my best to avoid these meetings because I know I will not be able to keep my mouth shut about all the garbage that pours forth from Duke which would not be the fault of the caller. I cannot express how disappointed I am at the trashy side of a Duke education. There are just no words to express the disgust except to never give these people another dime of my money.

You can't sign up with friends? How do they expect you to get friendlier? This is discriminatory against friendship.

Of course one should donate to Higher Education, if they can find it.

It is amazing how the potty minds have taken control over the University under the guise of a "liberal" education. which in fact little to do with the original concept of liberal. But then again Larry was quick to point out the Duke Sex Art Show was educational.

"It is amazing how the potty minds have taken control over the University under the guise of a "liberal" education".

It is amazing and more so when the University asked people who have a shred of decency left to support the institution. Is there any wonder that perverts like Lombard and the recently accused Duke police officer feel comfortable in this environment.

I'm not sure how popular my comments will be, but I'm in a surly mood and don't really give a rat's anal sphincter.

For quite a while, it's seemed to me there really isn't much of a feminist movement in this country. We have a lot of people who support women's rights, myself included, but in the end 90% of it is simply insistence upon basic dignities being extended to everyone. Feminism's greatest grip is devoid of a gender element - the conversation is simply, "Why should anyone have to take this shit?", with the sheis being examined in the female context.

Of course, the male-hating womyn and men in the feminist penumbra despise such a construct. They want men on the bottom and women on top - f*** equality. Being incapable of making an argument that produces equality and inferiority simultaneously, they just go for what they want - expression of their hatreds and poor thinking.

After already being on the receiving end of a paternity scam that cost me $5,000, my sanity, and my last chance to have kids of my own, I've got a low tolerance for female chauvinism. My ex wouldn't have been quite so quick to set me up as the fool to keep everyone from figuring out her dalliances if she'd figured on being despised by her friends for it. But there's the problem - virtually no women these days will criticize another sister, regardless. Michelle knew she'd skate free and she did.

One can argue that the sexual recklessness of today's females is due to this, that, or whatever. It's a scrum that takes all cummers. Amongst all the contributing factors is this- women will generally excuse anything amongst themselves if a gender aspect can be attached to it.

Men do not get together to have dildo parties. Men (as opposed to adolescents of any age) typically do not get together and talk about sex in the explicit manner that women do. Men, although often unhappy, do not spiritually rape each other through puberty and become fundamentally miserable, wildly flailing about for an antidote to their inner pain. And even if we did, we could expect to be castigated for our choices and have our noses held in it until we acknowledged the effects upon others.

That women have become sex freaks is not the news - the appalling part is that so few women bother to say anything about it, to criticize it, to mention the suffering of all the men-but-not-fathers and children being born out of wedlock in these nymphomaniac times. See, women have decided that sex is the ANSWER.

And that is that.

J. , I have two daughters and I am absolutely convinced that they would be the most vocal against any woman commiting a scam involving paternity. As they were growing up, beginning in middle school, I encouraged them to seek out friendships with boys in order to gain another perspective on life, growing up and social issues. Some of their very best friends are boys and they would fight for the integrity of any one of them. They also have a younger brother and I believe that their rational - non emotional- thinking has been a blessed resource for him. I agree with you, however, that a lot of our university women seem to be out to prove something about themselves rather than to discover something about themselves. Don't lose hope. There are still some decent women left who have not bought into the narrative.
