According to Houston County authorities, they arrested 37-year-old Webster Delenn Simmons of Rougemont, NC Monday after a woman reported the alleged attack. Investigators said they have recovered evidence and are looking into the possibility that the victim was drugged. Authorities believe the attack happened Saturday morning after the two went out to a bar. Simmons is employed as a campus officer at Duke, but the university said he will be suspended pending further investigation of the case. He's being held in the Houston County Jail under a $120,000 bond. Lets see what happens in this case. |

Thirty seven year old Webster Delenn Simmons of Rougemont, North Carolina was arrested and charged on October 26th stemming from an incident that was reported to have occured during the early morning hours of Saturday, October 24th. According to Sheriff Andy Hughes, Simmons and the female victim were at a local club early Saturday morning. The victims told investigators that she had purchased all of her own drinks while at the club with the exception of the last one that she consumed. She said that Simmons brought that drink to her. She said she remembered being in Simmons' vehicle and losing consciousness. She said she recalls later regaining consciousness for a couple of minutes and was in hand cuffs, gagged, and being sodimized. Her next recollection was regaining consciousness in the suspect's car around 5:00am. Hughes said that deputies searched the suspect's vehicle and recovered several "unusual items". Hughes said that based on the victim's recollections of what had occurred, it was likely that the victim had been drugged. The victim and the suspect were familiar with each other, according to Hughes. Sheriff Hughes said that a broadcast had been sent out to all Law Enforcement Agencies in case they may have any unsolved crimes similar to the one Simmons has been charged with. The sheriff said that the Duke University Police Department is cooperating fully with the Houston County Sheriff's Office, and had transmitted paperwork for deputies to serve on the suspect advising him that the Duke University Police Department had suspended him pending investigations. Simmons is currently in the Houston County jail with bonds totalling $120,000. They will do the same thing here like they are doing in the Lombard case.... plea bargain. Nothing to see here, just move on. Duke University, ever since the administration approved sex show, has done quite well with their employees committing sex crimes against women and kids. I hope they are proud of themselves. |

Unless ALL of those gadgets were used in the act, or even if they were, it seems like the jury should have a verdict after that display! Guilty or not guilty, I do not approve of them putting on such a show at this time. |

They have no reason to protect this guy. He won't get the protection of a angry studies professor, a female employee or an Aids activist (Lombard). They throw him under the bus happily. |

Hughes said authorities suspect Simmons drugged the victim's drink, but have not recovered any drugs. Hughes said the victim remembers leaving the bar. When she woke up she was being raped in Simmons' car. She was gagged and handcuffed. Authorities believe the incident happened early Saturday after Simmons and the victim went to a bar. After executing a search warrant, authorities found two pair of handcuffs, a ball gag, a thick white rope, an unknown power source with wires attached to a nail, a whip and flog, and what looked like medical tubing. Investigators suspect Simmons may have committed similar crimes, Hughes said. Simmons was being held under a $120,000 bond Tuesday at the Houston County jail in Alabama. Simmons was has been an officer with the Duke Police for just over a year. He has been suspended with pay pending further investigation, university spokesman Keith Lawrence said. Prior to his work at Duke, Simmons was a master officer with the Raleigh Police Department from 1998 to 2007. |

1. Why is this on YouTube? To give notice to potential other victims? 2. What is the purpose of showing evidence collected in an ongoing investigation? Same as above? 3. Did the accusing witness volunteer a blood sample so drugs could be detected? 4. How many drinks did the accuser pay for before the supposed mickey? 5. What the f*ck?!? Something about this seems really weird...besides the collection of toys and equipment being on display for the press... |

Simmons has been suspended from DUPD, where he has worked as a patrol office for just over a year, said Chief John Dailey. Dailey said DUPD has been in contact with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office to get more information about the incident. Gonzalez said Simmons assaulted a 34-year-old woman Saturday between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m, after Simmons and the woman left a Houston County night club together. The woman woke up Saturday morning handcuffed and gagged in Simmon’s vehicle, Gonzalez said. He added that drugs may have been used in the rape, and said police are awaiting blood test results that may show what, if any drugs were in the body of the alleged victim. After Simmons released the woman, she went to the hospital and reported the rape, he added. |
