Good. Did Cline have to ask SBI to step in, or did someone else do it?

AFAIK, that's the only way it can get to SBI.

Interesting, maybe Cline doesn't like Bev either, or was just absolutely unable to ignore the situation.

A whole bunch of questions in all this; a 'citizen' apparently reported it directly to the City manager or his office.

The situation had already run its course in the DPD, with the DPD ignoring the situation. No surprise there.

But who was the 'citizen'?:

- a PD officer who didn't like Alesha getting all the $$?
- a PD higher-up who doesn't like Bev and / or wanted her job?
- the County PR dept folks (presumably non-DPD) who didn't like being ignored?

This is good shiite! Pass the popcorn, please!

Others need better sources. :)

Or someone who's gunning for Lopez, who should probably lose his job over this.

I am guessing that there was some hanky panky going on between two of the players in this overtime police event. You know, hanky panky and ya cant criticize any women anymore. At least that is what rumors on the PD think.

Hey girlfriend, sign my slip, and then lets go out for a good time. What's a lopez to do but sign it to.

While I'm no fan of Lopez - he got roped into the snakepit of City Hall - he's too stupid to be police chief and should go.

The real criminals here are Bell, most of the City Council, several in the DPD, the judges, the DA's office - we all know who they are.

It would be ironic if the whole rotten Power Structure were brought down over a piddly overtime fraud case. Kind of like how Al Capone was finally put away on a tax rap.

I am sure a honest public servant blew the whistle. Someone who was fed up with the big bowl of crap that has been served in Durham PD for far too long.

The defendants in the lawsuits should be worried because there are honest people in Durham, in the DPD, at Duke, and at NC SBI!

Ink, a dink a dink,
A dink a dink
A dink a doo,

I can think of one who might be po'd that he didn't get Lopez's job. Think back to who was running things when Chamber (sp?) went MIA.

There's that, too. Luv shack, or kickback hanky-panky?

My concern is that there may not be sufficient nexus between this joyful hors d'oeuvres and the civil suits. Alesha's going to squeal like a pig, giving up Bev. And Bev may squeal too, but without the possibility of a quid pro quo I don't see her giving up the goods on DukeLAX.

Unless SBI is very interested in initiating some action there.

Don't look for a whole lot of moxie out of SBI. Otherwise, they would have done something three years ago while the Frame was in full swing. SBI's job is to keep a lid on things.
