This is Bigger than Michael Jackson, Obama figures.

Despite promises to the contrary, Obama Admin wants to talk about hearings and tribunals to judge Bush era on Torture!

"Because believe you me, the goal here isn’t justice. The goal is a prosecutorial fishing expedition to distract from Obama’s flagging domestic agenda. Better to have the public focused on the bread and circuses of a partisan battle over issues that have long since become water under the bridge than on Obama’s plans for health care or carbon taxes."

I think a lot of folk can now see Obama's MO along with the Dems who are now over reaching big time. The polls are starting to hurt them but their blind ideology is driving them over a cliff.

As always with Obama it's what he is doing with his other hand, David Copperfield !

I agree, the sole purpose is to distract people from the troubles he is getting us into. Sounds to me more like pelosi is running the country now.

Obama also wants to shore up his base as the uptick in the war in Afganistan will not sit well with the anti-war element within his base.

The economy is going badly, Congress has horrible ratings, Pelosi is in trouble over briefings, and Obama is being embarassed around by NK's.

To make matters worse China is having a rebound with its auto sales soaring..

What do do? Give them a CIA scandal! Wag the Dog.

He also thinks that he is going to scare off Cheney from speaking out on the issue of the security of this country. What he doesn't realize is that Cheney will go down to the wire - he is a patriot who felt and still feels strongly that this nations faces real threats from peoples who would like nothing better than to bring this country to its knees, if not completely prostrate.
This strategy by Obama /Holder (good guy/tough guy) will not work because it requires that Cheney cave. This should be interesting to watch.

Holder doesn't have a good reputation. I know that myself - he was around in Washington many years ago.

Holder also has that Yes-man reputation. Holder is not going to go against Barack Obama's wishes in a million years. But, we are hearing this is being contemplated - and Obama is on record as saying it's not a good idea, is he not?

This is Red-Meat and Lobster and desert for the Mainstream Press. This is the stuff of their dreams. This is an excellent story to dangle to change the conversation in the media and in Washington. It also put focus back on the Bush administration.

The timing of this story is as Obama's poll numbers are dropping which signals disapproval of his agenda on health care and the economy. The story is also coming out just before the Sotomayor hearings. I suppose it is possible that this threat of tribunals against the Bush administration may be to get the Republican senators to go easy on their questioning of Sotomayor-- perhaps her mock hearing has not gone well and the Democrats are afraid she may have a melt-down with tough questions. The story coming out at this time may also be an attempt to get Republicans to tone down their criticism of Obama's radical agenda. (Speculation only).

I notice News "stories" timing over and over serves liberal purposes. Whether it's global warming or health reform, timely media stories always pop up to buttress the liberal, big-gov't argument.

It looks like, based on a Drudge Preview, that a story is breaking the same day Sotomayor's hearing starts about unemployment disproportionally affecting blacks. Very timely for a day where the conversation will be about Ricci and affirmative action. A story made to order for cheap politicians and the weak kneed politicians opposing them.

That story will be like a cross or blessed holy water is to Vampires.

I'm skeptical of the Republican's resolve to show this woman is unfit and that a nice life story doesn't make one Supreme Court Material.

I don't think that this is speculation. The Obama administration is adept at wagging the dog. Bolstered by Soros' money and with the direction of Podesta and Center for American Progress, the scenario is repetitive- only the variables change.

I hope that the Cheneys, Liz and the Vice President, are gearing up to counterattack!

Thugs live by intimidation and Obama has brought Chicago to Washington.
