Democrats fight with guns, Republicans fight with pillows - and afterwards the Republicans send McCain to kiss the Democrats' oowie and make it all better. Disgusting.

David Kahane thinks it's disgusting too, which is what he writes in the article linked above. Superficially, Kahane writes the article from a leftist point of view sneering at Sarah (he titles the article - "I Still Hate You, Sarah Palin"). But in reality, Kahane is sneering at the gutless Republicans who, as he writes, 'bring a knife to a gunfight'. And what does that get them? Well, it just got them Sarah's blood soaking the dust of the OK Corral.

So enough already! Kahane gives a loud warning to Republicans:

"If you just think of us — liberal Democrats — as Capone you’ll begin to understand what we’re up to. And we just put one of yours in the morgue.

I don’t know why I’m telling you this, but maybe now you’re beginning to understand the high-stakes game we’re playing here. This ain’t John McCain’s logrolling senatorial club any more. This is a deadly serious attempt to realize the vision of the 1960s and to fundamentally transform the United States of America. This is the fusion of Communist dogma, high ideals, gangster tactics, and a stunning amount of self-loathing. For the first time in history, the patrician class is deliberately selling its own country down the river just to prove a point: that, yes, we can! This country stinks and we won’t be happy until we’ve forced you to admit it.

In other words, stop thinking of the Democratic Party as merely a political party, because it’s much more than that. We’re not just the party of slavery, segregation, secularism, and sedition. Not just the party of Aaron Burr, Boss Tweed, Richard J. Croker, Bull Connor, Chris Dodd, Richard Daley, Bill Ayers, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, and Emperor Barack Hussein Obama II. Not just the party of Kendall “Agent 202” Myers, the State Department official recruited as a Cuban spy along with his wife during the Carter administration. Rather, think of the Democratic Party as what it really is: a criminal organization masquerading as a political party.".

This is why Dick Cheney's approval rating went up when he came out swinging. And why we're all so cheered by Sarah Palin- she's no wimp.

I'm sorry if some of you find this crude, but the Republican Party needs to find some balls.

Well put.

Yes, definite lack of testicular fortitude in the Republican Party. :chicky:

It is so obvious that it is not even crude. But what I want to know is "WHY"?

Because the PC police have swung their billy clubs at our heads for far too long. (And those damned lawsuits haven't helped either.)

TM is absolutely right. We need some balls.

Is this board recommending that patriotic AND intelligent conservatives need to out-Alinsky the Democrats?

Can we live with the ends justifying the means?

Or do we have a choice, if we want to salvage what's left of the American democratic system?

The Republicans have no program that is well articulated and no leaders of intellectual, moral, and (I hate to say it but this is unfortunately a component of today's politics) sexy enough to sell it to the American people. The party does run for cover (or so it seems) every time the Democrats even raise their voice (the macarena incident in the Virginia senate race is an example). They need to be untied from the religious right - the religious right is not going to vote Democrat just as the far lefties are never going to vote Republican. We need someone of Steve Forbes academic caliber and articulateness (rather we need a number because a party should not be one hot star but a constellation) to move the party but even more so the country back to its former position of greatness.

The one thing that has most depressed me about my sojourn in London is not being abroad, the work, or anything of that nature. Rather, it is the attitude of the teachers that I am with toward the US and its political and economic system. The vituperativeness (and really there is no noun that more closely describes) with which my colleagues (all of whom are teaching high school students) regard Republicans and any and all Republican policies and the adulation that they have for Obama and anything Democrat is really frightening and at the same time sad. I do not feel that anyone party or person is perfect - we are humans and by definition imperfect. But when people have closed minds (the sources of knowledge for all my colleagues is their "Bible" - The New York Times - and NPR and they truly believe that these are sources that are even handed and accurate in all they report and Steve Olberman and Rachel Madow - well that tells you all you need to know) and refuse to read across the spectrum of political commentary and news outlets - well, I believe it makes having any political discussion next to impossible.
I look at this forum - it is possible for rational, sentient people have engage in polite yet well reasoned discourse. It is possible to feel passionate about issues and disagree yet listen carefully to the points made by others and more importantly be open to thinking about what others have said. Unfortunately, I believe that many within the Democrat party (though the Republicans have had some who have thought the same way in the past) who truly desire a one party state in which socialism will be the byword.
