. They said the sky was falling at the time. Obama said pass the Stimulus now or the Country may NEVER recover. Hard to argue they didn''t think it was that bad. Biden: `We misread how bad the economy was' WASHINGTON – Vice President Joe Biden said the Obama administration "misread how bad the economy was" but stands by its stimulus package and believes the plan will create more jobs as the pace of its spending picks up. Biden, in an interview airing Sunday on ABC's "This Week," said the nation's 9.5 percent unemployment rate is "much too high." "The figures we worked off of in January were the consensus figures and most of the blue chip indexes out there," Biden said. "We misread how bad the economy was, but we are now only about 120 days into the recovery package," Biden added. More jobs will be created in coming months, he said. Biden noted that the $787 billion economic stimulus package was set up to spend the money over 18 months. Major programs will take effect in September, including $7.5 billion for broadband Internet service, plus new money for high-speed rail and the nation's electrical grid, he said. Biden said it's premature to say whether the country will need a second stimulus package..... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090705/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_biden . |

I think Obama brought a lot of the recession on us by "misreading the economy" and running around yelling like Chicken Little, "The sky is falling" "The sky is falling". Lots of his followers believed that and it became a self actualizing event.

The term "lying" is really not applicable to our Hussein. What he says is UNRELATED to reality - then, now, or at any other time. Remember "the bomb that fell on Pearl Harbor", US army liberating Auschwitz, etc.? He might not even be aware of the existence of reality - and certainly does not care about something as esoteric as "truth".

Unfortunately 53% of the voters misread the Obama Biden ticket. Slowly the realization will happen. Do I blame Obama for the current recession? Not totally as he inherited it. What I do blame him is being a part of a political machine which has help create it along with the Republicans. What I do castigate him for is his actions in office and IMHO they are destructive for our future. This recession is becoming his. Edited by Baldo, Jul 6 2009, 09:25 PM.

I won't be surprised if this is the setup for another stimulus. |

I blame Democrats for bring the housing crisis down around our ears. They are solely responsible for this, and their irresponsible practices are continuing yet today. The banking melt-down was part-and-parcel of the housing crisis. I think Paulson (read that Democrat) kicked-in Bush's door one morning with his manufactured crisis and the first bailout was underway. From that point forward, I blame Bush for believing Paulson. I blame Congress for protecting Dodd and Franks. I blame Congress for allowing unconstitutional bailouts - a President cannot spend taxpayer's money without Congress. The TARP funds were approved to buy troubled assets from financial institutions. The auto industry doesn't qualify. Unconstitutional! Barney Frank tried to give Bush the authority for bailouts - but Congress wouldn't approve it. Obama came along and didn't even try. The Executive Branch made the decision and did it. Unconstitutional. A quote from the CATO Institute: "Congress can proceed only from legitimate authority, not from good intentions alone." Every Czar is unconstitutional, as well, and side-steps the authority of Congress, which is our check and balance. Then there is the fact that Democrats were in office for two years prior, and Barack Obama sat in the Senate during that time. I hope I didn't hijack the thread. I know this is about Lombard. Please feel free to delete. I just watched Obama's Independence Day speech and I'm a little testy! Edited by maggiesnotebook, Jul 6 2009, 11:23 PM.

I give 10% blame to Dubya/Republicans and 90% blame to Obama/Democrats initially. Presently, it is 100% blame to Obama and Co. and has been so for months. |

Don't disagree with anything you said. When Obama took the oath he became responsible for the condition our country is in. That's the problem with winning elections and being in Power. I was disappointed when he kept saying I inherited this. What a lack of Leadership! Harry Truman said the buck stops here and what we were hearing was it wasn't my fault. It is what you do as President and so far what I have seen is terrible. He forced through a stimulus package which costs more than the entire Iraq war. Congress passes the Porkzilla of all Pork Bills. They didn't even read it. It is filled with blank checks for their friends. 50 Billion to save the UAW. Cap and Trade. Thuggery with Bankruptcy Judges. I haven't been impressed witrh his foreign policy either as he seems weak. The worst is the amount of money he is borrowing will come back to hurt you and me. That is his responsibility. |
