Michelle Obama bringing glamor to Moscow

By CATRINA STEWART, Associated Press Writer Catrina Stewart, Associated Press Writer – 21 mins ago

MOSCOW – Michelle Obama brings her superstar glamor to Moscow this weekend as she accompanies her husband on his summit with the Russian president.

But the American first lady, who has wowed publics in the U.S. and Europe with her easy elegance and charm, will perhaps face a bigger challenge in winning over a Russian public that has scant respect for women who grab the limelight from their powerful husbands.

(snip)

In the United States, first ladies are accustomed to coming under the media spotlight — and Michelle Obama seems to revel in it.

On a recent trip to Paris, she impressed the fashion-conscious French with her chic designer outfits standing side-by-side with the country's former supermodel First Lady Carla Bruni. In Britain, she famously breached palace protocol by putting her arm around Queen Elizabeth II.

(snip)

Michelle Obama's fashion sense attracts comparisons with Jacqueline Kennedy, and there is a Web site entirely dedicated to what she wears.

Vogue's Doletskaya is cagey about passing judgment on Svetlana's style, saying simply that she is "very representative of Russian femininity."

But when questioned about the U.S. first lady, Doletskaya becomes lively. She describes Michelle's style as "very fresh," as someone who mixes boldly "but in a very refined way."

There is a recognition that Svetlana has a difficult role to play — managing the expectations of both a conservative older generation and ambitious, career-minded younger women who would like her to step up.

"It's not easy" to be a first lady, said Oksana Fyodorova, Miss Universe 2002. "But I think she (Svetlana) will succeed. And then we'll see who is better — Michelle or our Svetlana."

LOL, Lodge

yes, our Michelle will bring those J Crew sweaters and wide stretchy belts to the tundra and take the Ruskies by storm. In the photo above, she looks like someone's "washer woman".

Yet look at those wonder arms! (She's sleeveless again and I'm sure the MSM is thrilled! ) :laughin:

The AP needs two things - a drool bucket to catch all that slobbering adulation of the Messiah's missus. And a guide dog.

They need that dog. It will keep them from tripping over the bucket.

(Face it. If they can't see Michelle's ass, they sure can't see that bucket.)

People, you should mosey over to Lucianne.com and get a look at what they're saying about AP's article on Michelle's 'glamor'. Here are some of the comments:

"She couldn't bring glamor to the drunk tank at the local county jail."

"Mrs. Obama is bringing glamor to Moscow? Who is she bringing?"

"Huh? Half her outfits look like they used to be someone's loud colored drapes."

"Sarah Palin is glamor. Michelle is a piranha trying to be nice. It just doesn't work."

"I just barfed. Mo and Glamor - nope. Mo and ugly, hate-filled glare with an extra-wide load - yup."

"Every time I see the words "Mrs. Obama" and glamor" in the same sentence - I want to send my optometrist's business card to the writer."

"James Brown in Drag is bringing glamor to the old USSR? Who'da thunk that a woman with a permanent scowl, dressed in a cheap holiday tablecloth, and carrying a case of beer on her arse could be called glamorous?"

"War is peace
Freedom is slavery
Ignorance is strength
MIchelle is glamorous
(Newspeak from the Obama administration)."

"This is like somebody gave Aunt Esther a blank check to be gauche. The Russians are no doubt drinking heavily this weekend."

"Since when have a paunch, a big butt, a scowl and ill-fitting clothes become glamorous?"

"Moscow? She will feel at home there. Finally, a country she can be proud of."

I'm currently betting that when the Obamaramas leave the White House, they'll take the silver and leave the dog!

Not a day goes by and I don't get a laugh around here.

They are certainly the closest thing to a King and Queen that have ever lived in that house.

I have no doubt a significant segment will lobby that they are the only ones that can manage the unique problems the country faces.

Frankly, I think Andre Leon Talley is more glamorous than Mobama- and probably wears about the same size, too.

How right you are. I have been in the Marines, who have been described by a former first lady as, under paid, over sexed, teenage killers. I don't know about any other males on this site, that feel this way. Whenever I was out with any of my comrades in arms and we saw an attractive woman, with different physical attrbutes, I never heard anyone say "Wow, just take a look at those arms". The AP drools over anything, as long as it about the POTUS and mobama.

The country is in the toilet and the Obamas have become the Roto Rooters Extraordinaire.

Haven't you heard the stimulus has worked. Only the unemployment lines didn't get the memo.

With Hillary it only took a village. With the Obamas it only takes bare arms, a big ass and a telepromptor.

Leo - if you don't look at her arms, you have to look at her face. And that doesn't work if you eat regularly.

Like I said Carolyn, I never met a male in a bar that first looked at a womans arms and no one I knew stated the female was a great looker, because of her arms. The only thing is the MSN focus on her arms, they can't focus on her love of country and her good looks, after all it was only a year and a half ago, she was first "proud of her country". So what's left her arms. What a tirbute she will have, she had great arms.
