I have found a professor who is ready for Duke's faculty. Granted, he only is at LA City College, but I would bet his CV is every bit as impressive as that of Wahneema Lubiano, and I bet he can write the same mind-numbing prose that she does. Student Sues, Says Prof Called Him a "Fascist Bastard" Updated 8:58 AM PST, Tue, Feb 17, 2009 http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Student-Sues-Says-Prof-Called-Him-a-Fascist-Bastard.html A student is suing Los Angeles City College over an incident in which a professor refused to let him finish a speech against gay marriage, according to the Los Angeles Times. Student Jonathan Lopez told the Times that the professor, John Matteson, called him a "fascist bastard" and refused to let him finish his speech during a public speaking class last November, weeks after California voters approved Proposition 8 banning gay marriage. Lopez also said the teacher threatened to have him expelled when he complained to college authorities. ~snip~ Indeed, this is a teacher after Karla Holloway's own heart. I wonder if he is as "wide-ranging" an "intellectual" as is Houston A. Baker.

And the left are seeking to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine. Who would know? Certain members of the teaching profession are becoming dangerous in their zeal to sell their points of view. I can see this guy getting a department chair at Duke in short order. |

One thing is crystal clear: liberals absolutely do NOT believe in free speech, even though they profess to believe in such. They are the worst hypocrites when it comes to free speech. The Fairness Doctrine is all about suppressing free speech. Liberals only want to hear what they want to hear -- and, more than that, they don't want other people listening to what they don't want them to hear either. Edited by MikeZPU, Feb 18 2009, 10:58 PM.

Bill, this is NOT the John Matteson who read aloud the first page of the 1996 HERMAN MELVILLE: A Biography, 1819-1851 at the inauguration of the City University of New York Leon Levy Center for Biography last December. |
