http://durhamwonderland.blogspot.com/Saturday, February 07, 2009 Bryant's Ron Machtley Speaks Out Former Rhode Island congressman Ron Machtley, president of Bryant University, becomes (to my knowledge) the first college or university administrator to publicly criticize how Richard Brodhead and the Group of 88 responded to the lacrosse case. "This is a coach who had been very badly treated... by the board of trustees, by the school in general...one the things that I think is still missing from Duke is the president and the faculty who took out their ad, taking out an equal ad saying, you know, we made a mistake... Im very critical of the Duke faculty, of the Duke president, for that very reason ... This was not the type of decision which should have been rushed to. The president should not have thrown a coach under the bus in order to stop the whirlwind of publicity that was going around this incident." |

Isn't it great to see Zack wearing #88. It's like not only did we survive, we thrived in spite of all of you. |

Thank God for this great and honorable man, a true leader. He is a person with courage and conviction, just like Coach Pressler. Where is the committee to evaluate Duke's response to the hoax/frame? Where is the committee to evaluate how Coach Pressler was handled, i.e., maliciously mishandled? Edited by MikeZPU, Feb 8 2009, 11:05 AM.

The Bryant President's comments were part of the larger Laxpower video. Athletic Director Smith's comments are also an interesting contrast to Duke's former AD Joe [It's not about the truth] Aleva. I don't know how to get just the small link from AD Smith, but this is the complete Laxpower video link. http://www.lax.com/story.phtml?story=2212 |

Thank you for that link! The longer video is a must listen for all Blog Hooligans. I was choked up and also had this great sense of good triumphing over evil at the same time. Edited by MikeZPU, Feb 8 2009, 11:49 AM.

Congrats to Lax.com! This is an amazing presentation! Bryant: The D1 Push We hear why Coach Pressler was the antithesis of the Philosophy of the "88." "Everything in Life is about earning your spot, earnings your turn, nobody is handling us anything" Coach Pressler As Bryant AD Smith said since Coach Pressler's arrival the team's GPA is the highest. Duke University lost a Great Coach but more importantly a great leader of young men. You will enjoy it! Definitely a Must See! http://www.lax.com/story.phtml?story=2212 |
