I want to provide a heads up to K.C. and the folks on the blog. It seems that Duke has decided to make UBUNTU an official living group at the university. See the article in the chronicle here:

Duke University continues to celebrate and promote its Duke Lacrosse Hoax heritage by promoting and decorating individuals and organizations that formed the spine of that attempted lynching. The latest is UBUNTU, which now enjoys a sanitized description as a "civic engagement" organization and has attained official recognition as a Duke "living group."

Born as the twisted offspring of 88 hate-filled professors who chose to use university time and facilities to condemn their own innocent students and hundreds of pot-banging (and non-due-process believing) students, UBUNTU is "an artistic and organizing community that emerged in Durham, NC during the Duke Lacrosse Scandal." The group was formed to hate Duke students based on the flimsiest of "evidence" (read gossip):

"UBUNTU!
A mother, A student, A dancer, A human, A survivor… I am that woman. End rape now! In Durham, North Carolina, USA, community members are breaking the silence about sexual assault and racist violence as part of a long struggle against racism, classism, sexism and all forms of oppression."

Such a pletora of artistic culture to choose from at Duke.

I know if I were a parent paying $45,000 a year for my child's education, I also would have a hard time deciding between the lighted sparkler up the whore's ass or watching the Ubuntu Land Orca shatter concrete as she danced.

It now appears that Duke's done the impossible. Made community college look better in comparison.

.
Wonder when they'll start demanding Justice for Abhijit Mahato and ask why the ball was dropped. Ask why Duke didn't do more and the City of Durham and DPD didn't even check to see if Mahato's stolen cell phone was being used.

Most people think Eve Carson's death was preventable - there's a case both deaths were preventable.

When it comes to the durham police department doing any kind of investigation of a crime committed against a Duke student, there is no urgency to determine what happened and who did it.

Tortmaster does an excellent job on the reporting of the Ubuntu connections!

Would someone please go over to Duke and tie their hands down to keep themselves from shooting both feet?

Last time we saw Ubuntu and fellow organizations was the National day of Truthtelling.

A broad coalition of 9 local organizations, including UBUNTU, SpiritHouse, Southerners on New Ground, Men Against Rape Culture, Black Workers for Justice, Independent Voices, North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Assault, Freedom Road Socialist Organization and Raleigh Fight Imperialism-Stand Together, collaborated to create this event.
http://www.leftturn.org/?q=node/793

Who are the Potbangers? Leader of the 610 Protest was Manju Rajendran who is a proud member of UBUNTU, SONG, Future5000.com and the Not Your Soldier advisory board.

Serena Sebring is another proud member of Ubuntu who helped organize protests and spoke on campus against the Lacrosse Team. She is a PhD candidate at Duke in Sociology

Sam Hummel is another member of SONG. There are more

Really they all have their "own" organizations but it's one group of NC local activists. Big on Titles! The 610 Protesters came from these groups and operated with Duke's Graduate students. I have long suspected they operated out of the John Hope Franklin Center using their resources under the encouragement of some core 88 professors.

I imagine some of the current members of Duke's Ubuntu are new recruits, but never fear the older ones have move on to higher positions like Alexis Pauline Gumbs. She describes herself as ".. queer black trouble-maker, a freedom seeking writer, a PhD candidate in English, Africana Studies and Women’s Studies at Duke University the founder of BrokenBeautiful Press & a SONG member."

If you go to Ubuntu's my space site you will see another member who proudly held another sign, Our Little Drummer Girl who held the castrate sign at 610. She also held the sign on National Day of Truthtelling!

So I guess they are back, this time on Campus.

What's next, a National Day of Castration?

I seem to remember a short video of an Ubuntu demonstration. An interpretive dancer (?) was gyrating as the speaker made their presentation - did that survive? As I recall it was quite a performance.

darby

I'm looking for the first male volunteer from the ranks of the UBUNTU devotees to submit himself for castration as a showing of solidarity to the cause.

Now as Larry King says it's "cool to be black".. How soon before it will be "cool to be a eunuch"
