Lynn Dickerson, former publisher of The Modesto Bee, has been a vice president of operations for 11 McClatchy papers in Texas and the Southwest since 2006. Her responsibilities will be divided up between McClatchy's two remaining operational vice presidents, Bob Weil and Frank Whittaker. "We continue to restructure and transition to a new business model — one that requires us to be smaller and more efficient in every area of the organization. This includes our senior management and corporate offices," said Gary Pruitt, McClatchy's president and chief executive officer, in a statement. A report yesterday from Forbes.com said the McClatchy Co. is at risk of defaulting on its debt by the end of the year. Pending a showing of goodwill by debtors, including Bank of America, the publisher of 30 daily newspapers could be forced into bankruptcy. |
