BOSTON - Giancarlo Stanton hit a home run that he hoped ended both a personal slump and the Miami Marlins skid as well. Doug Baldwin Jersey . Not quite. The Boston Red Sox rallied for three runs in the eighth inning for a 6-5 victory Thursday night, completing a three-game sweep of the slumping Marlins. "Especially here, its never going to be over until the last out is made," said Stanton, whose solo shot off Daisuke Matsuzaka was the first of two runs the Marlins scored in the sixth inning while taking a 5-3 lead. "It was a good jump start to get us back on top and the game back in our hands. But unfortunately it didnt work out that way." Not much has for the Marlins lately. The Marlins took a lead in all three games of the series but lost them all as they dropped their fourth straight overall and 13th in their last 15. "Finally we got the lead late in the game. Our bullpen has been great all year long. We feel good about ourselves. We get the matchup we want, dont work," Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said. "Youve got to fight the fight. They want to quit, Id like to know. Im a fighter. Im going to fight through it." Boston tied the score on a two-run homer by Will Middlebrooks, who drove in four runs. Ryan Kalish then singled, raced to third on a groundout to first and scored on Daniel Navas single up the middle. Alfredo Aceves pitched a perfect ninth for his 18th save in 21 opportunities. Scott Atchison (2-0) allowed one hit over the seventh and eighth. The Red Sox won their fifth straight game and the seventh in their last eight as they matched their season-best mark of three games over .500. Stanton, in a 2-for-31 slump, hit his first homer in 12 games and 15th of the season to make it 4-3. That ended Matsuzakas streak of 14 consecutive outs and brought in lefty Andrew Miller. He retired the next batter before giving up a single to Greg Dobbs and a run-scoring double to Omar Infante. Jarrod Saltalmacchia started the winning rally in the eighth with a double off Randy Choate. Edward Mujica (0-3) came in and served up Middlebrooks long, tying shot. Then Nava, who had six singles in the last two games, lined a clean single to centre. "I believe in my bullpen. We had the matchup we wanted," Guillen said. "They beat our matchups." In just his third start of the season since having Tommy John elbow surgery on June 10, 2011, Matsuzaka gave up a leadoff single in the first to Jose Reyes, who went to third on a slow grounder to shortstop Mike Aviles, who got the out at first. Stanton walked and stole second and both runners scored on a single by Dobbs. After Dobbs stole second, he came in on a single by Infante. Matsuzaka ended the inning by retiring Scott Cousins on a fly ball to centre and didnt allow another runner until Stanton homered. In his previous start, a 3-0 loss to the Chicago Cubs, he set down 13 of his last 14 batters after allowing three runs. Carlos Zambrano gave up one hit through three innings before Boston tied the game with two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth. He hit the first two batters, Cody Ross and Saltalamacchia, in the fourth. Ross scored on a single by Middlebrooks and Saltalamacchia came in on a sacrifice fly by Aviles. The Red Sox evened the score at 3 on another RBI single by Middlebrooks, driving in Adrian Gonzalez, who led off the fifth with a walk. And that clearly doesnt bother the NBAs leading 3-point shooter. Allen and Rashard Lewis signed their free-agent contracts with the Heat on Wednesday, giving the NBA champions a pair of veterans who bring tons of experience and versatility to a lineup already featuring LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. And both wasted no time saying they want to adapt to the Heat way. "Whatevers going to be best for me in this situation is going to figure itself out," Allen said, flanked by Heat President Pat Riley and coach Erik Spoelstra for his introductory news conference. "This team won a championship without me. Im not going to come in and expect for coach to cater to who I am and what I do. Ive got to make that work on the floor with my new teammates." Allen agreed to join the Heat on Friday, deciding to leave Boston after five wildly successful seasons and the 2008 NBA championship. Lewis agreed to terms with Miami on Tuesday. Allen will make just over $3 million this season. Lewis will earn about $1.35 million from the Heat, plus another $13.7 million after getting a buyout from the New Orleans Hornets earlier this off-season. "Im at a point in my career where Ive been on the All-Star team, played for 13, 14 years and Ive made a pretty good amount of money over my career," Lewis said. "Everybody sets goals over their career and my next goal is obviously to try to win a championship. The ball cant bounce forever. Im sure you all see the grey hair on my head." For Lewis, coming to Miami is a new beginning. For Allen, coming to Miami wraps up a month of unexpected twists and turns. The Celtics season ended in Miami a little over a month ago, with a loss in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals. Allen was unusually emotional after that defeat, then insisted that even after an injury-marred season -- hes recovering from surgery to remove bone spurs from his right ankle -- he has basketball left in his legs. Boston tried to keep him, offering him twice as much as hell make per year in Miami. Nonetheless, Allen found himself drawn to the Heat. "You come into the summer, and you dont know what potentially can happen," Allen said. "And you take the process a step at a time, try to figure out whats best for you and your family. And here I sit." Allen said that Celtics coach Doc Rivers and general manager Danny Ainge were disappointed by his decision. Allen said he reached out to Kevin&nnbsp;Garnett -- he was particularly close with Garnett and Paul Pierce in Boston -- when he began leaning toward Miami, telling Garnett in a text message that the move was likely. Marshawn Lynch Game Jersey. Garnetts responded by saying that he was sure Ainge would do whatever it took to keep Allen in Boston. Days later, Allen was signing in Miami. And on Wednesday, Allen downplayed the notion that the move came in part because of a perceived rift with Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo. "I cant say that it factored in my decision," Allen said. "As teammates, we were brothers. ... Theres differences. We all have differences. Paul eats corn flakes. I might not like corn flakes. Thats just part of kind of who we are as individuals." Lewis has already thought plenty about what it could mean to share the court with James, Wade, Bosh and Allen. In short, he knows defences could be a bit confounded. "Youve got to double-team LeBron. You have to double-team Dwyane Wade. Youve got to double-team Chris Bosh. And then you think theyre going to leave Ray Allen open?" Lewis said. "Theyve got to leave somebody open. So I have to go shoot a million jumpers tonight and be ready to knock them down." A few moments later, Lewis posed with Riley and Spoelstra, holding his new No. 9 jersey in Miami colours. "Hes played in a great program already. Hes been to the finals. Hes a winner," Spoelstra said. "Weve had some great battles against him." Spoelstra simply raved about Allen as well. "Theres only a handful of players, really, in this league that absolutely strike fear into their opponent. And Ray is one of those players," Spoelstra said. Allen and Lewis were Seattle teammates for five seasons, from 2003 through 2007 -- and both figure to fit perfectly into Miamis plan to surround James, Wade and Bosh with even more shooters who can stretch defences. Allens 2,718 made 3-pointers are the most in NBA history, and Lewis ranks fifth among active players with 1,690 makes from beyond the arc. Slowed by a bone bruise in his left knee this past season, Lewis averaged 7.8 points in 28 games for Washington. For his career, hes averaged 16.1 points per game with Seattle, Orlando and Washington. "I think its important, year in and year out, that you continue to try to add quality talent, experience and players who want to make a commitment to winning," Riley said. "And I think we found out the last couple of days how hungry Rashard is." ' ' '
