Its clear from what has transpired in Blue Jays land the past couple of days, the organization sees this as a year of opportunity. Aldon Smith 49ers Jersey . Right now theyre holding down the second Wild Card position and they are only two games back of division leading Tampa Bay Rays and Baltimore Orioles. As much as General Manager Alex Anthopolous tried to downplay the signing of former Expos star Vladimir Guerrero to a Minor League deal, this move is clearly designed to send a message to the team. That message is, we can make it to the playoffs this year! If Guerrero performs as expected in the minors, he can be at least a platoon DH and big bat off the bench late in a game. That could result in diminished playing time for Adam Lind, if he doesnt come around at the plate and if Edwin Encarnacion starts seeing more time at first base. Guerrero is 37 and he cant play the field anymore. It would also probably be better if he was a left hand bat, but he should prove to be a significant addition. Over the last 48 hours, Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. has conceded he could be a seller at the July 31st non-waiver trade deadline, if his team doesnt turn things around. Lefty Cole Hamels and centre fielder Shane Victorino are both free agents in the off-season and could conceivably be moved if the Phllies decide to retool. FOX Sports Ken Rosenthal is reporting that Anthopoulos has already been in contact with Amaro about those two players. As Rosenthal added, this is often just routine intelligence gathering that doesnt necessarily equal trade talks. Sometimes youre just checking to see if a player is truly on the market. Being interested in Victorino doesnt make a lot of sense for the Jays, unless theyre having second thoughts about Colby Rasmus and his ability to hit. Youd love to get an arm like Hamels. As a west coast guy, there have already been plenty of rumours that he might sign with the Dodgers, who suddenly have all kinds of money to spend. It is going to be very interesting heading up to that trade deadline. Everytime, I wonder if baseball would be better off without the DH, I think back to all the great ones that have played in Toronto for the Blue Jays. Names such as, Rico Carty, Willie Horton, Al Oliver, Cliff Johnson, Dave Winfield, Paul Molitor, and now it would appear Edwin Encarnacion. And yes even Jose Canseco who had his last great full season with the Jays in 1998. Next weeks homestand is huge, with the Rays, the New York Yankees and the surprising New York Mets in town. It should be a strong indicator of how good this Jays team really is. Scott Ferguson is the Sportscentre Update anchor from 4pm et to 7pm et from Monday to Friday and Blue Jays analyst/reporter on TSN Radio 1050. Joe Montana Jersey . Its the prognosis -- or lack of one -- thats a source of worry now. And suddenly, the Indiana Pacers may be even more of a threat. Justin Smith Jersey .Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin injured his left knee in a scrimmage Wednesday at USA Basketball training camp in Las Vegas. http://www.shopsanfrancisco49ersgear.com/womens-ahmad-brooks-nike-jersey/ . For Spain, his main role appears to be firing up Fernando Torres. Mata may be one of Europes most creative talents but the 24-year-old playmaker finds himself in the thick of footballs most star-studded midfield, competing with Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and David Silva for a place in Spains European Championship lineup. Aldon Smith Pink Jersey . Basel, which trails eight points behind Swiss league leader Grasshoppers, says in a statement it would explain the decision at a news conference. Anthony Davis Jersey . -- Robbie Keane scored early in the first half, Christian Wilhelmsson added another goal early in the second half, and the Los Angeles Galaxy posted its fourth consecutive shutout in a 2-0 victory Friday night over Colorado. WARSAW, Poland -- Alan Dzagoev scored his third goal of the European Championship, and Jakub Blaszczykowski scored what will surely be one of the goals of the tournament. With hooligans fighting one another and police away from the stadium, Russia and Poland played out a 1-1 draw Tuesday. The result left Russia at the top of Group A, but all four teams still have a chance to qualify for the quarterfinals. "Were still in the tournament, so with this point a win in our final match puts us into the knockout stage," Blaszczykowski said. Dzagoev was first to score Tuesday. He darted past defender Lukasz Piszczek in the 37th minute and sent a glancing header beyond goalkeeper Przemyslaw Tyton after a curling free kick from Andrei Arshavin. Russia continued to push forward after the goal, allowing Poland to equalize on the counter in the 57th when Blaszczykowski cut in from the right and sent a searing left-foot drive into the far corner of the goal. "I think we deserve praise because all of us put a lot into this match," Blaszczykowski said. "The tactics we set up before the match we carried out 100 per cent." At least 15 people were injured in fighting between fans. Polish police also fired rubber bullets and tear gas at a group of young Poles who attacked them with glass bottles. "To be honest, I havent seen or heard anything and nor have the players," Russia coach Dick Advocaat said. "I dont know what has happened." The violence erupted around a group of thousands of Russian fans who marched in a cordon of riot police across a bridge over the Vistula River to the National Stadium to ccelebrate the Russia Day national holiday. Patrick Willis White Jersey. The march was seen as a provocation by many Poles, who share a difficult history with Russia, including decades of control by Moscow during the Cold War. Many Poles felt the authorities should not have allowed the Russians to march as a group in Warsaw given the historical wounds. Russias football federation pleaded with its fans to behave after video emerged online of supporters beating stewards at the Municipal Stadium in Wroclaw during the match against the Czech Republic, warning that more trouble could cost the team points. UEFA opened disciplinary proceedings against the Russian federation following the trouble in Wroclaw, including throwing fireworks onto the field and displaying nationalist flags -- both of which happened again Tuesday. On the field, Russias rampant attack in the opening 4-1 win over the Czechs was largely muzzled by a well-organized Polish defence. At the other end, Robert Lewandowski was a constant threat. "When we went 1-0 up, I thought wed get more space like we did against the Czech Republic, but that didnt happen," Advocaat said. "We lost the ball too fast when we were going forward and they could counter. We left the field too open." Earlier Tuesday, the Czechs played themselves back into Group A contention by scoring two early goals and hanging on to beat Greece 2-1 in Wroclaw. "Of course, todays match confirmed that we are good enough to beat the Czechs," Poland coach Franciszek Smuda said. "Our team sees the chance to advance to the quarters and theyre going to try take advantage of it." ' ' '
