Now, tomorrow, when voting closes, the Senate will begin its nomination process for executive elections. Under ordinary circumstances, the Senate will have a good idea of who's good at what and who's interested in what. So early in the region's history, with no Common Council or Senate record to examine, we unfortunately have to gauge interest a little more directly. I'd like to gauge interest for each executive position. Essentially, who wants to run for what? And what credentials do you have? I really do not want this to be a campaign thread per se, but more of a chance for the Senate to examine its options with some clarity before our first regional elections begin. As a refresher (though I really hope no one needs this at this point), the positions available are:
Remember, you can be nominated for more than one position, but you'll eventually have to choose which nomination to accept. So if you're interested in all of these positions, don't be afraid to say so, but do keep in mind that you'll have to decide which position you want to run for when the time comes. Also, don't be shy, and don't hesitate to mention your interest in a position because you think you'll lose the actual election! I, for one, will be making more than one nomination for each position if at all possible, so that we have some real options when elections start up. Everyone here is very talented -- we've been blessed as a region with good membership -- so there's no reason to have someone run unopposed for a spot. One last thing: I really don't want this to be precedent setting. As I said, we're operating under unusual circumstances, as this is our first election. In the future, I will advise the Senate against this sort of thing if at all possible. I think that, generally, this sort of thing politicizes our selection of the executive in ways that would be unhealthy for the region in the long run. I suppose that, after all of that, I'll have to go first... I've been playing NationStates off and on since 2006. I've served in virtually every position you can possibly imagine in the game. I've been a monarch, a president, a spymaster, a spy, a general, a soldier, a Minister/Secretary/Director/Chief of absolutely everything you can imagine, a judge, a prosecutor, a recruitor... you name it, and I've not only done it, but I can tell you how to do it better. So... do with me what you like. I'd be happy to serve in any executive post, though I will admit here and now that I am seeking one term as President. It's my hope that I can serve one term in the Presidency (and only one term), get everything up and running smoothly, make sure that our new Directors are trained and that they are training the next generation of leaders for the region, and hopefully pursue a meaningful alliance with another worthwhile region. I would like to be clear, however, that just because I am the founder of the region, I am not expecting anyone here to support a Presidential bid on my part because of that fact alone. The Leviathan Republic is not some tin pot dictatorship; the best person for each job should get that job, period. If the honored Senators of the Republic do not think that I would make for a good President, I urge them to nominate a more worthy candidate, and I will be the first to give that candidate my vote. |

Well, here is me I suppose. I have been in NS for several years. I have served in several executive positions. Mainly as cheif executive. I have been in Parliment/Senates throughout most of my career. I have been a state Prosecutor, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Head of Intelligence (don't ask, if I told you more, I'd have to kill you...),A spy (also... don't ask), A supreme court Justice, an Ambassader, and a newspaper editor. Though that is not really government related. Nor was it one of my best careers. I would be happy with any executive position. I Have been a Minister of Foreign Affairs, and while I generally do not like foreign affairs all that much, I am willing to do it. Especially so early on, setting up a strong system is important. That said, I'd really like to have the Director of Defense position. I have some good Ideas for setting up a strong and active military. And also, I would like to develope a good Intelligence system. |

Here's Me: I have only been on NS for a few months, but have been an active roleplayer and debater the entire time. This is the first regional government I have participated actively in, and I look forward to helping strengthen it. IRL, I work in a field that requires me to interpret and argue the law, and, as such, I petition the people of Leviathan for the position of Director of Justice. I feel that I would be a good, disinterested arbitrator, and good with law. I am open to any suggestions more experienced players would have for me during this process. |
