I hope not...for what it's worth, I thought your card was a really nice touch! It seems like most of the members have been quiet for a while now. I'll keep the site running, though - I think SVR 2010's release will be a good time to attract some (carefully chosen) new blood from IGN. In the meantime, this site's here as and when anyone fancies a chat. I get the impression that interest in LOWM in general has been waning lately - IGN's board is more desolate than ever, and I still haven't heard anything about THQ getting a sequel together. Still, our Facebook group continues to gradually increase - it passed 50 members last time I checked. If any sequel rumours do start in the coming months, we can easily pick up where we left off and give the online community a second shot at embracing our proposal, possibly with a fresh petition or two. SVR 2010's legend roster (or lack thereof) will probably speak volumes about the odds of LOWM2 seeing the light of day...I know that Steve Austin is confirmed so far, but that's it to my knowledge. What's your interest in '10 at the moment, Plex? Reckon you'll get it, or not? |

Hey Gareth, Gemini, sup? Some of those SVR features sound intriguing. I think I've played them all except for '09, and the last I purchased was '06. It would probably take a lot for me to buy one again, especially on the Legends side of the roster. I used to love CAW'ing but I feel like I'm getting to a point in my life where I just don't see myself sitting in front of a TV for hours doing that anymore. Even in LoWM I made only a few, and since it's become apparent that DLC support is going to be nil, I'm just a bit bummed and not sure it's worth the time. I'll have to check up on '10 sometime, though I suspect the IGN board is rampant with anti-social, psychologically damaged riffraff and crazy superfluous postings (I actually found the LoWM IGN board to be surprisingly tolerable and civilized for much of the time at least relative to what I remember for the SVR boards!) Also, it seemed most of you here have xbox's so the online component isn't much appealing to me as a PS3 owner. And finally, I'm also just getting to the point where I'd rather not give any more of my money to THQ. I'm really soured by all the PR bullshit that surrounded LoWM, including many outright lies and distortions, such as their big central contention that they absolutely put everyone in the game that they could, only to be presented with a CAL mode including photographic likeness of missing wrestlers on some of the apparel, along with basically all their component parts, but no DLC support or anything to make proper use of them ... I know, the CAL mode was good, but considering the already smallish roster, iffy finishing move situation, and the fact that even a great CAL doesn't quite have the same 'magic' as the guy being there from the start ... meh ... And for $60 plus tax and this being THQ/Yuke's umpteenth wrestling game, I think it's hardly 'spoiled' or unappreciative of me to expect them to do more than the bare minimum and basically say, hey wrestling fans, do it yourself! Make the game yourself -- we got a good start on it for you!! Tap dancing Christ, maybe THQ should offer some of the fan-created CALs as DLC and PAY US at this point for making their games so much more enjoyable by doing all the work they were too cheap to do themselves! Who's working for whom here?! [blood shoots out of eyes] You might say, oh but CAW-making is an enjoyable end in of itself and that's fine...but I just wonder if we're becoming a culture capable of really thinking these things through to catch all the implications of this kind of activity. I know I've long since established myself as someone who's quite fusty about how the game we really want is constantly waylaid by economic rationality and rampant consumerism, but fucking seriously ... Life is short. Why don't they take 2 or 3 years and make the f'n game they must really want to make (if they're at all fans of wrestling themselves). I just don't understand why people are so happy to buy these things one little piece at a time each year only to promptly toss them into the bargain bins. It's a sickness! But maybe I'll get a wild hair in my ass and get it sometime if the legends roster looks good. Definitely won't buy it new though. As far as LoWM, I suspected from the start that this would be a one-off unless the response was phenomenal. But hopefully they'll give it another shot sometime, only next time they'll have our proposal in their hot little hands
