I guess the question is how much fun does does this game get you, 60 bucks is worth a year of fun but does this game deliver a year? Great review by greg because I agree with what he has to say, and he seems just as upset as any of us, its funny how he looked so happy in those videos and then you read his review its like night and day lol, wow I dont know what to say other than THQ should be ashamed of themselves, I cant believe some of these other websites that gave it such a high rating, do these people play wrestling games at all? They may not have anything to compare it to so they just think its as good as wrestling games get. I guess thats why we are all here to help THQ make a better game...I think I hear the sound of taps being played, R.I.P fun I thought I was gonna have....I am gonna have to think long and hard about getting this game, I dont have svr 09 so I figure I could get that one to keep me busy for a while, I dont know maybe I should wait and see what you guys think about this game overall.

Did you really think the review was harsh, Gemini? After all, you said yourself the game "can be improved a lot"...would that be an accurate description for an 8 or 9 out of 10 rating?

compared to sdvR09, taht was nothing that a restyling of previous 3 years and got...how much? 8,5 ?

cm'on ref you must be kidding me

i mean this 6,5 could be a fair overall if avery other wrestling game was reviewed with the same meter from IGN !
instead, this game was crushed , and every SdnsRaw get a 8+ review...thst for me is unfair!

it seems to me that IGN gets some "directives" to follow for SD series, while for this one they could tell everything they got in mind.

That's why I'm judjing this harsh, not for the number itself Gareth B-)

EDIT sorry for mistyping...too much of them to correct, I prefer to apologize :D

well I just got back from a mates place that has it and I think 6.5 is about right the game might have 3 months before I would put it on the shelf and never touch it again,Limited gameplay and very limited replay factor oh and online is a joke the cheap players have already worked out most of the cheap ways to win. I will wait and get this from the bargain bucket at £10 or less.

and fcogemini please don't worry about your spelling this isn't like IGN we are here to talk like adults, If English isn't your primary language no one here is going to insult or ridicule you for spelling errors.

Exactly what I'm thinking of doing, just wait till I can find it cheaper, based on everything I have heard 6.5 sounds right.

I felt it was not necessary to make another thread, too bad you cant change the names to threads or at least I have not figured out how to do it, but heres another review this time by game spot which I have trusted for a long time. if memory serves me correct it got a 5.0 which is considered mediocre, but heres a video review which their videos usually always sum up the reading part pretty well...

In the grand scheme of things, this being 2009, the low score may be justified, but I think Greggy really glosses over some of what the game got right (or he lacks the imagination to see how great it could be with a little more effort). I realize it's not necessarily his job to imagine how great it could be with more effort (though I might argue a more substantial games journalism would factor that in, in lieu of the 'murder by numbers' reductionism it maintains because that's how GamePro did it when they were kids).

I actually like it better than SvR. But I never held that franchise up as some kind of holy grail or anything, so that isn't necessarily overstating anything. But I just like the feel of it. I like the way the momentum swings, I like that the match 'as a situation' changes a bit more with the chain meter, and I like the way reversals are handled. Really, if you put the damage-arbitrated submission meters/mini-games back in there along with some vestige of limb specific damage, and cleaned up some of the outside-the-ring hotspot craziness, it would be a Smackdown-killer right there (of course the added bias derived from its legends roster remains a chief factor as well).

Those are probably my priorites though: a few more legends, more attires, more moves (bigger CAM library), improved WM Tour or Season, address those issues above and it would go the distance. Let us edit the default roster and put all the bells-and-whistle back on (create/edit-a-title, more classic arenas, etc...) and it could really go. But they have to be willing to put in the time.

Reading your comments makes me want to go buy the game lol, I just been reading so many negatives about it, I have not played it but judging from the demo I have to believe theres gotta be some good to it as well. Your not alone in thinking this game has great potential because it does, its refreshing to read someone say positive things about it since this game has really been murdered, for good reason I will add. Sadly all the things you mentioned should have been in this game, we are almost hoping for the game we should have had this year. This game with all the tweaks u mentioned, and added wrestlers would have been epic. We would be getting ready for something very special for the sequel, Well perhaps now that they are not starting from the ground up it will be special, they have something to build on now.
