You can't capture nostalgia with current commentators. Option 1. Use living people that used to call matches that are on good terms with WWE. Vince McMahon, Jesse Ventura, Roddy Piper. In fact, if things are as promising as they look lately, Randy Savage. While Bobby Heenan is alive, his voice has never been the same since his illness. Option 2. Comb thru the WWE footage and extract commentary from Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse Ventura. Never. I repeat N-E-V-E-R did Big John Studd put a Slobberknocker on Andre the Giant. |

Personally, I want Jerry and JR kicked out, and the entire commentary sourced from classic Jesse and Gorilla audio. Gorilla and Bobby would be great, too...I'd avoid any Vince commentary (he was always lousy at it) if possible. J & G called enough matches together that I honestly don't see a problem working with their old audio and getting good one-liners for the vast majority of the game. I completely agree that era-specific commentary is essential for preserving the nostalgic feel of LOWM. What does everyone else think? |

If I could pull off an atomic drop on someone and here Gorilla say "That's gonna seperate his posterior protubulance into his lateral callatoral", I would be SOOOO HAPPY!

I just realized something... In the other thread we have, we agree that while Importing may not be OUR perfered feature, it isn't something likely to be restricted. If that's the case, simply riping comments from Jesse and Gorilla isn't enough. If we wanted to keep the team of Jesse and Gorilla (best announce team WWE ever had IMHO) They would NEED to have Jesse Ventura come in to record additional material. If for anything, to call out the names of the current roster. But it could still work. Imagine hearing... Gorilla: Whoa, Jesse, look at the size of this guy. Talk about your immovable objects. Jesse: Batista is no slouch Monsoon you get the picture |

Jesse isn't a cheap person to get involved anymore, his term in office has made him very expensive to hire for this kind of stuff.

I think they could afford it. Especially if WWE works out a deal giving him a chance to appear on tv to promote his latest book, or whatever project he may be working on.

The WWE can afford it, but like most things they put as little into the games as they can and want the most profit they can get. personally using old recordings could be better after all I don't really give a rats A** about today's wrestlers its the guys that are still around from the mid 90's are the last few I even want to watch, so we would need older recordings for the early matches all the stars names are covered with Gorilla and Ventura's old announcing recordings from about 400 shows, and then the later period is covered by J.R and King who are both still available to do voice overs. It would be kinda stupid to have Monsoon talking aboutthe new guys, just like its stupid to have king announcing for the 80's stars. |

Idea Summary: * Source audio from Jesse and Gorilla's archive commentary (using additional audio from different commentators only if necessary to fill obvious gaps), JR and Jerry's commentary to be excluded unless absolutely necessary Any objections before this gets included? |
