Goecers:

Also known as "Enchanters" or "Charmers", or through the gender-specific terms "Witch" (female) and "Warlock" (male), the Goecers are the second type of Magic users, those practitioners of the magical arts and abilities who, unlike the Magi, are not born with abilities or affinities with magic. Be it that they come from magically gifted families, descend from entities who tend to have inherent mystical abilities or are just normal persons from normal families, the Goecers are all born normal, without any power or affinity that might give them any inherent use of magic or pseudomagic.

Despite this, all beings of any kind can learn magic, even if they do not have the affinities to do so from birth. Through the proper training, any mortal can learn how to attain such affinity and connect themselves with the magical energies, enabling them to charge them up and using them as the medium to affect reality to do their biding. A Goecer, as such, is just a person who learns magic without having being born with any affinities to do so; there are very few, if practically nonexistant, differences between Goecers and Magi, and aside from any records regarding that person's development it's unlikely for others to find out unless specifically told.

Despite the lack of differences, Goecers tend to be seen as heretics in many cultures that deal with Magic. Given that their powers are not "natural" (meaning, not inborn traits, but acquired abilities), they are thought to be stealing power from other beings, an idea possibly born out of the fact that Goecers tend to do more dealings with minor entities rather than Gods, who teach them the secrets of Magic... usually with a price. As such, it's common in Cybellia to believe that either they have been empowered by harmful entities in order to spread chaos, or that they simply have stolen power that is not rightfully theirs, said views not being necessarily opposite to each other. It's due to both of these views that Goecers tend to hide their identities behind fake names and titles, contrary to the Magi who rarely if ever adopt other names.

It's particularly common though not universal for Goecers to attain their powers and knowledge through dealings with demons and their teachings; to the point that the term "Goecer" comes from "Goetia" or "Goecie", the specific magical art used to invoke demons and similar entities.

(In my normal stories in Les Chevalier,s a Witch/Warlock has inborn magical powers while Sorcerer is just a blanket term for all magic users but mostly used for those who learn it and aren't born with it, so the definitions are a little inverted in here...)
