An angel is an entity of good, a being of joy and holiness. All angels are good, and their powers reflect their personality as mjuch as it does with their species.

Just because an angel is good, though, it doesn't mean that they are all particularly "nice". Like with demons and similar entities, their morality and their views of good and evil are highly different from humans, and while they are understandably good, many of them can come off (and really, are) rather unlikable, cruel and not specifically nice.

This list will mainly attempt to explain and number the subspecies of angelic beings, specifically those that appear in the abrahamanic traditions (those used by John Dee in his hermetical studies are a related but not fully similar kind).

Classification of Angels:

According to Power:

  • Heaven God: Not angels per se, but actually Gods of holy energy and presence whose powers resonate with those of Heaven. They may seem angelic or acknowledge themselves as angelic, at least far more frequently than Hell Gods. Most of them were created directly by Adonai, as his main helpers, and are considered his "children" by Shekinah (despite Adonai and Shekinah not actually having biological children due to being virgins).

  • Archangels/High Level Angels: Powerful entities, along the lines of DemiGods and Gods in level of powers, but without the acess to the divine energies. Angels of the highest ranks.

  • Medium Level Angels: Not nearly as powerful as the Archangels, but far more powerful than the Low levels, they stand in the middle ground. Usually not very notorious.

  • Low Level Angels: About the level of a normal human sorcerer and Low level demons, these angels are relatively weak when compared to their peers. Most angles start at this level before actually developing through knowledge or training.

According to characteristics:

  • Hayyot: Angelic Beasts of great holy power, representing the knowledge and love of Adonai and Shekinah. They tend to be chimeric and marvelous, along with very wise and calm.

  • Merkabah: Different entities at times appearing as either mechanical constructs or mechanoid angels, or as entire dimensions with their own mind and personality. The last case has only been found around three times, though, and it has been said that such beings should be considered a different species altogether and not of angelic origin, despite certain similarities (they might be related to the Enochian angels or possibly to the Aeons).

  • Malakhim: Humanoid angels, or at least as close to humanoid as possible. Most of them manifest as humanoid or semi-humanoid beings with wings of different forms, and more often than not being material or having flesh; but a few of the manifest only as semi-humanoid beings made out of light.

  • Fallen Angels: Angels who have become disillusioned with their fellow angels and their ways. More a way to describe "Rebels" than anything else, but every now and then, fallen angels decide to become different species: most of them become demons, but others may be more interested in other species.

  • Ascended Beings: Entities who have reached holy, heavenly power and have a pure spirit or soul. These beings can become angels or similar entities.

List of Species:

  • Chayot ha Kadesh: Heavenly beasts of great power, rather similarm to the Beasts that are connected to the Royal Family of Hell. These are beings of pure, unadultered goodness and love, unable to feel doubt or fear or hatred or disappointment or any negativity at all. Unfortunately, their essence is so powerful they can burn away entire worlds, like the Beasts of the Royal Family of Hell; the difference is that they lack a fundamnetal thing called "self-cotrol" as in not knowing how to let their power stop flowing (unlike the lack of self-control of the Beasts of the Royal Family, which is merely a lack of desire to stop destruction). Raziel is needed to keep a seal over them so that they may not accidentally burn everything away due to their lack of control.

  • Seraphim: Extremely powerful entities whose real form is chimeric, with serpentine tails, six wings and multiple heads. They are entirely made out of flames, but can alter their figure and composition into more solid ones. Greatly powerful and wise, the oldest ones of them are as old as the first heavens. Many consider them the exact opposites of the Lilim.

  • Cherubim: Beast-like entities of great magical knowledge. While the wisest among all the angelic species, they have a beast-like, animalistic appearence and strengths. Theya re also known for being, while not exactly evil, at least aslight bit xenophobic. They are considered as counterparts to the Edolim/False Gods.

  • Ophanim: Angels of mechanical nature, their bodies are metallic and composed of machinery. Even though they can reproduce, their bodies are less composed by actual organic material, and what organic tissue they have is adapted into organic technology. They tend to have an odd number of wings. They can reproduce with most other subspecies, producing an offspring that looks mostly like the other species, but is mchanical or biomechanical in nature.

  • Galgalim: Counterparts to the Ophanim, these are also mechanical angels, but look far more like machines. Most of thema ren't humanoid and appear only as spheres or wheels made of metallic materials, with eyes (or rather, eye-like desings) covering them.

  • Erelim: Humanoid-looking angels, of the usually assumed to be normal angelic form: human-like (fairly frequently animal-like, though) entities with wings that may be either feathery or composed of different materials. Usually have an even number of wings.

  • Redeemed Demons: Demons who have, through a long process, become pure of spirit and rejected their fellow demons. They try to emulate angels and eventually become angels themselves. Not exactly well-known (most demons are turned off buy Heaven 's strict moral code.... and Metatron's craziness), but several cases have been seen by the organization.

  • Nephilim: The descendants of angelic entities and other mortal beings, more often than not Kadmonites and fairies, having a very low rank both within angelic hierarchies and their own powers. The Nephilim, unlike other entities of angelic origin, are unable to directly use the holy energies of the Heavens: their powers might be "holy" or pure, but it isn't the same kind of holiness as those of actual angels. While being considered hybrids, they tend to receive far more discrimination than other kinds of hybrids with other species, due to the elitism held by most pure-blooded angels. Many fo them look for redemption from the Heavenly Gods (regardless of whether they actually deserve it or not). While the term is also used to describe all other angelic hybrids of such low rank and sharing similar characteristics regardless of their other specie,s the term is most often associated just with the descendants of angels and Kadmonites, and the term "Peris" tends to be given to the descendants of Angels and Fairies. Noé Darcy, the well-known "Best Chevalier of All times" and father of the curent agent Noah Adam Darcy a.k.a. HaMalakh was known to be a Nephilim of relatively low rank but who epxloited his powers to his best, and his son may be considered also a Nephilim, but has expressly said that he will personally rip out the throat of whoever says that, as he considers himself fully and only human (the lack of any explicit and actual known power being the specific determinant in his case, regardless of his predisposition he might have to said powers or abilities).

  • Saints: Persons who during their lives have attained some form of heavenly purity or holiness, they become entangled with the energies of heaven and can manipulate said energies, or even replace their humanity and become angels entirely. May apply to other forms of Kadmonites, but so far unknown.

  • Fallen Angels: As mentioned before, the fallen angels are those angelic beings who, disillusioned with their own specie,s have either forsaken it and gone to other places, and even might have used different processes to transform and change their actual powers and species into another. Usually, though, the term is specifically linked to those fallen angels who have decided to change into demons, usually known as "Angel-born Devils". Said entities have their souls corrupted and their powers altered so as to fit a demon, and their bodies are eventually changed accordingly in internal and eternal biology, and at times, in physical appearence.

Expect for more subspecies to come soon...

Groups of Angels:

The Viceroys: The entities that rule over Heaven above all other beings including the Seven Angelic Lords. They can be seen as opposed to the Triumviratum of Hell, though the Triumviratum was eventually replaced by the absolute monarchy of the Satan, while the Viceroys still exist as a group. Comformed by Metatron (given the title of "Noble Moanrch") and Cassiel (given the title of "Executor and Judge"). Originally a Triumviratum with the third member being the angel Seraphiel (the "Loving Father of the Angels", as his title was, a sort of conciliator between Cassiel and Metatron), but Seraphiel disappeared under mysterious circumstances millennia ago (people joke that either Metatron sent him to be executed, or Cassiel unmade him before being born, though in the latter nobody wouldn't even know of his existence). It should be ntoiced that Cassiel uses the male title "Viceroy", along with all other male forms of all her titles, instead of the feminine forms.
