By now you will have probably looked around the site and seen a lot of models and files people have made and posted and are probably wondering, "What do I do with these?" Now, if you have read N00bpedia's Vol 1-2 you will already have Pepakura Designer, open it. On this site find a pepakura model that you want to build (.PDO) of your skill level. DO NOT TRY TO BUILD A FULL HD SUIT OF ARMOR FIRST! Every model on the website that is posted will have a Skill level between 1-5. Start with models rated as a 1 and move up from there. We will eventually be forming a Pepakura Index in the Armor and Weapon Creation sections to make finding files easier. Now when you first open Papakura Designer you should see the following: ![]() Now go to File->Open and select the model you downloaded. Models you download from here may be .PDO, .3DS, .MQO, or anything else but it should all open within Pepakura. In this example I am opening my Space Marine Helm file. Note this is a Level 4 model, but I am using it as example only. ![]() You will want to make sure that this is unchecked, otherwise you will kill your printer's ink cartridges. By having it not checked everything is printed white, no textures at all. Next go to File->Print and Paper Settings. Change the paper size from A4 to letter. You will also want to change the Margins from 15 to either 10 or 5 for bigger models. Now click the big unfold button. Put in a Scale of 27 cm height (for this model anyways) and click OK. You will end up with this: ![]() Now just split up the model into manageable pieces and print. There could be a whole new tutorial on just unfolding and making well unfolded models, but that will not be made right now. Also if you do not have the full version of PD, and hence unable to save, you may want to try and use a PDF printer to make a PDF of the model or ask someone with a full version to unfold it for you into a .PDO. Once the pieces are printed you will need the following: -Exacto Knife or similar -Cutting board -ruler or straight edge -two colors of pen Start by looking at the pieces (still on the paper) and choose a starting piece. Cut that out. Then look at the numbers on the tabs and find a piece with matching numbers. Cut that out as well. Leaving the remaining pieces on the paper helps make it easier to find matches latter on. If a file is only 1-20 pieces though you may choose to cut them all out at once. Now grab your pens and ruler. You will notice on pieces there will be two types of lines: - - - - - - - These are Valley Folds -- -- -- -- -- These are Mountain Folds These can vary between files so make sure you know what is what. Using the ruler draw along each line with your pens. Each pen is for a different line type. This creases the paper as well as making it easier to tell different fold types apart. Now for Folding. Below is my low graphic example: --------- Regular paper ___/\___ Folds in order: Valley, Mountain, Valley Notice that Valley folds are just folding "up" while mountain folds are "down". When gluing do not use to much glue. If you put down a thin layer you are assured a much faster bond, and no run. Try to get a hold of a glue pen, preferably not white glue. You want a glue that is not water soluble not a "rubbery" glue as that can cause your model to warp in odd ways.....which i guess would be fine for Chaos armor. Glue only one tab at a time unless there is a "string" of tabs that are all along the same edge, then go ahead and do a few at a time, just try not to do to many or your glue will dry before you can get to the tabs.
