Shortly after Nasuada and King Orrin had claimed every single city near Surda, Eragon and Saphira, Arya, and Blodhgarm and his elves were sent to Uru’baen on Islanzadi’s orders to capture the final dragon egg before Galbatorix forced it to hatch. The party marched into the halls of Uru’baen, fighting off the nearby guards. Galbatorix was not in the castle, Blodhgarm confirmed after a short while. Realizing the Dragon Riders were not near, they quickly went to find the egg. Blodhgarm’s elves were attacking the Imperialist pursuers while Arya and Eragon and Saphira searched for the egg mentally. Finally, Saphira located the egg from outside the castle and they went to the room.

The egg was green. Securing it in Arya’s hands, after Eragon’s constant persistence she absorbed some of the ring Aren’s energy, and sent the egg to her mother. With the egg out of the Empire’s hands, the party quickly left Uru’baen. What they didn’t expect to find was Murtagh waiting outside before them. Murtagh and Thorn slew two of the elves, but the rest of them immobilized Murtagh. All of the elves and Arya went up to the top of the Hall to be in assistance to Eragon. The two battled, and in the end, Murtagh was winning by far, but he left due to Galbatorix’s summons. Quickly, they all escaped. When they got to Surda, Eragon, Saphira and Arya were to go to Vroengard. Eragon and Saphira went to Vroengard.

At the island of the Riders, they found a new home there. It was that of Vrael’s, the lead Rider. They saw that Maud and Solembum were the ones living in the home, keeping it in good enough condition for Eragon to live in it. Time after time Eragon lived there, until he went to duel Murtagh one last time. Dueling him, Murtagh overcame him with ease. Eragon died a miserable death, and Saphira died, too, out of pure misery and the many wounds Thorn used on her.

Islanzadi had Blodhgarm take Beloth the Wise, Brisingr—his sword—and Aren to Vroengard. She promised Blodhgarm to stay there and if he did, he would be heavily rewarded. So Blodhgarm stayed on the island, awaiting the green Dragon Rider to be born and accept his responsibility, at which time he would receive Eragon’s possessions.

Meanwhile, Nasuada and the Varden were doing alright making up for Eragon’s death. They ruled everything near Surda, so they were not bothered. Murtagh and Galbatorix retreated back to their home in Uru’baen, and the fighting and trying to take over each others territory ceased, for the time being. Islanzadi was proposing the Varden move to Vroengard soon, now that they found the location and it was being made livable by the two werecats.
