What does SwiftKit have that I can't get from the Runescape Client? Simply put: everything. Being fully supported by Zybez Runescape Help, it provides quick access to all of Zybez's Guides, Item, Shop and Monster databases, and even the Market Price Guide! But it doesn't stop there, SwiftKit has built-in Runescape Calculators with useful progress bars, Quest Planner, MP3 player, Equipment Profiling, some Clan tools, an IRC Client, Screenshot utilities and much more! Aren't Third Party Programs against the rules? Yes and no. For RuneScape Toolkits to be legal, they must follow strict guidelines - the major one being that it must not give you an unfair advantage. Unlike many other Runescape Clients, SwiftKit follows all these guidelines and as such is 100% legal to use for playing Runescape with. It's simply a specialised web browser catering specifically to Runescape players. Is SwiftKit Safe? Yes - Click here to see why. SwiftKit is 100% safe as long as you download it from this page, SwiftKit.net. Requirements: Windows Operating System (Linux/Mac users cf. TiKo). ******** Ok. I don't use the claculators much myself, but it's nice that they are there. I mainly use sk for the IRC client. IRC is a way to chat with people online. The great thing about SK is, the IRC chat window is directly underneath the Runescape game window. If you play fullscreen and want to use IRC, I'm not sure if it's been supported yet, but if not, they are working on it. With SK IRC, you can join channels, which are chatrooms. In these channels you can talk to others that play rs. You don't have to be logged into RS to do it. The IRC channels are a lot more powerful than the rs clan chat rooms. You can pm someone directly in the same window area, you can copy and paste information, such as links, and you can query a bot. A bot is a non-entity that sits in the chat room just waiting for your questions. Would you like to know how much runecrafting xp you gained in the past week? Ask the bot and it will tell you. Would you like to know just how much xp it takes to get from lvl 85 to level 90 in a skill? It will tell you. Maybe you want to know which pouches you should make to get a level in summoning. The bot will tell you. How about a new clue anagram? The bot knows it. Ok, you think you know the best way to level a skill? You want to time your xp gain to prove it? Tell the bot, and it will time you for xp gain. Can't remember what the top drops are for a certain monster? The bot knows. Planning on becoming rich merching an item? The bot shows you ge tracking of prices for items. Want to know an alch value for an item? Ask the bot. Want to know where a certain song is unlocked? The bot knows. Are you really annoyed at someone else in the channel? The bot can call them names them for you. All you have to do to use the bot is type it a question. It's that fast. You don't need to go to a site to look up the info. Now with IRC, you can make your own channel or join other people's channels. If the clan is interested, I'll build an IRC channel for the clan. Until the clan has an IRC channel, if they want one, you guys can come to one of my channels and try out the chat and the bot. I'll tell you how to get there in a moment, first let me explain how to get Swiftkit. Swiftkit is offered by http://www.zybez.net. Visit the zybez home page, and on the left menu is a link for swift toolkit. When you click on that link, you will see a download button on the right. Download it. Install it. After it installs, run it. Most likely, it will check for updates and download them, then it will restart itself. This may take a couple times until it gets all the updates. After the installs, click the button that says Launch Swiftkit. Finally, you will be able to create a profile. The profile is just in case you have other people that play rs on your pc, and you'd like your sk settings to be remembered. If it asks for a profile password, just give it something you will easily remember, the password is NOT for your rs account, it is just for the sk profile. Now that sk has booted up, I'll explain how to use it. In the upper right corner will be a button that says Play Runescape. Click it. The runescape homepage loads for you. Now just do as you normally do, click members, etc. Login to runescape. That's how easy it is to play rs using sk. But now we want to use some of the tools that sk offers, like the IRC chat. Look down in your lower right corner, and there is a button that says Show Internal Utilities. Click it. A box will display under the runescape play area. There's a tab to the right of that box with a pic that looks kinda like pacman. Click the tab. In the box that displays, type a nickname in the box for nickname. Most people use their rs name, but you can use whatever you want. For the box that says Channel, type this exactly: #davyjoneslocker Make sure you use the # symbol along with the channel name. Then click the Connect button. Bam, now you are on IRC, you can chat and do all those sexy things with the bot I told you about earlier. Whenever I am on rs, I will be in that channel as well. And I can explain to you how to query the bot. By the way, my nick on IRC is usually either rkaic or [1|eyed|viper]. If you have any questions or difficulties let me know and I'll try to help you out. Swiftkit is a supported software that does not have any viruses, trojans, etc. as long as you download it from the official site. If swiftkit won't load for you after you install it, you may need to tell your firewall to allow it to have access to the internet. If Swiftkit loads but IRC won't, you may need to tell your firewall to allow IRC conections. Ok, some people have started using SK so I'm going to explain how to get rid of the curse/link filter. If you get offended by curse words, do NOT do this. In the chat area, you will notice a START button. Click the start button, then select options, then select the IRC tab. In the lower left of this tab, there is a box checked that says "Enable message filtering." Uncheck that box. Click Apply. Close SK down entirely, then reboot it. That's it, now you can actually see the links people post to screenshots and websites. Here's another neat IRC tool you can enable. Ever go in a lot of channels, and you get tired of monitoring them? You can set up a feature called "highlights" which will change the color of any message and also make your pc go ding! when someone says your trigger word. I use highlights for my IRC nicks, so when someone says my nick, I hear a ding!, and I know I'm being spoken to in a certain channel. Here's how to set up highlights: In the IRC chat area, click START, Options, then select the IRC tab. Check off the box that says Enable highlighting. Under that, check the box that says Highlight current nick. If people tend to call you a different name than your nick sometimes (for instance my nick is rkaic but some poeple call me viper), you can add those names to the highlight section. Just click the ADD button, type the word or name you want highlighted, then click ok. Finish by clicking Apply in the IRC tab. From now on, if someone is trying to get your attention, you will be more likely to notice it. |
