As soon as the pepper tin hit Blind he let out a scream as he waved his hands in front of his face as if he was being attacked. With one hand trying to get the pepper off his face he used his other to turn the Thorn Dancer towards the direction that the tin had come from. However he suddenly stopped as the sound of a foot landing against his machine rung in his ears. "Now I have you!" Kenshin cried out as he started to try and pry open the hatch with spear in hand. The sound of his voice and movement was all Blind needed as he turned his head as if to look at Kenshin from where the face plate once was. As Kenshin attempted to open the hatch the Thorn Dancer's right claw arm started to take swings at him. The first few missed and only attacked the air but the more times Blind swung the arm the closer it got till finally it started to slice against the machine itself. Yet he did not stop as Kenshin tried to avoid the swinging claw. Each time the claw missed and sliced the side of his machine Blind let out a scream as if he was harming himself, just as if he and the machine where one which in his mind set to him was not far from the truth. Then after one last attempt to bat the man off his machine Blind listened to his movement as the claw came down, yet this time he had no intention of using it to hit Kenshin. As the claw arm swung by Blind lashed out of the front of the machine that was no longer cover, and with his hand grabbed Kenshin by the ankle. Pulling on his foot to keep the Yafutoma man in place Blind used his free hand to reach over to the control panel while keeping his face locked onto Kenshin's own as he was almost snarling like the animal he was. Blind pulled one of the levers which caused the machine's left shoulder to turn to face Kenshin, and then nothing. For a moment a twisted grin appeared on Blind's face as he thought the cannon arm was now facing Kenshin and then he slammed his fist against one of the machine's buttons. Just when the missing cannon arm did not fire on Kenshin Blind's grin turned to a frown as he screamed out into Kenshin's face. Blind let go of the man and sat back down as his hands franticly ran over the controls of the machine. After a second he soon realised the arm was now missing when the levers did not make the responding noise of metal moving. ''D..ie.....' Blind almost managed to mutter the word as he caused the thorn Dancer to spin around on the spot, tossing Kenshin from it's body across the desert. As soon as Blind could not hear his body against the side of the machine he stopped it from spinning and stood up. He started to sniff the air to locate Kenshin but could not make out anything but the smell of pepper. Leaning his head forwards and luckily in the direction Kenshin has fallen he listened out for any noise that the man might make, yet there was nothing. ~ ''Kenshin!'' Takibi yelled as Kenshin fell to the ground. She knew thanks to her spell a fall like that was nothing but it was a natural reaction for her to call out, one that she quickly realised was a mistake as Blind turned his head to look in her direction before sitting back down. The thorn Dancer turned to face her and then charged into her direction at full speed. With no time to react Takibi put her arms out in front of her as if to stop the machine, but it was not her hands that would do this. Her lips slowly moved as the machine got closer. ''Banesu!'' She muttered as her worried look turned to one of smugness. Several large fire balls started to immaterialize in the air above her and before the Thorn Dancer could even think of slowing down they fired off at full speed as the two smashed into one another. The Thorn Dancer was tossed into the air in a burst of fire and sand as it flew over head behind her. With no time to see how far the machine was flung she rushed over to help Kenshin, not that he needed it but even in the middle of the battle she started to realise just how much attention he was putting on her over the threat of the Thorn Dancer. ''I don't think it's over just yet.'' She stood over Kenshin with her hands on her hips and a grin on her face. ''Think your still up to it?'' Takibi looked over her shoulder at the Thorn Dancer that had landed on it's side not too far away. As the two got ready to take Blind on again the Thorn Dancer used it's right claw arm to right itself, yet in doing so all but one of the claws broke away sticking out from the desert floor. The drill too had smashed off and the whole front half of the control area was now missing as blind could be seen sitting in his chair with his hands on the controls. His armour seemed to of been burnt by the Pyrum attack but he did not show any sign that he even knew he had been burnt. He just sat there sniffing at the air and turning his head as if he was listening. Only the smell of pepper was all he could catch and so he waited for any sound. "Accursed thing! Why won't it open?" Kenshin yelled at the hatchway atop the Thorn Dancer. It wouldn't budge an inch no matter how hard he pulled on it. Obviously it was locked from within. Kenshin frowned as his narrow window of opening slammed shut. The Thorn Dancer's arm began swiping at him in a frantic attempt to remove him from the machine's roof. "Whoa....ah......yah!" The nimble young warrior exclaimed while dodging Blind's clumsy movements. But it was all he could do to stay one step ahead of them. The locked hatch would have to wait. The Thorn Dancer's lethal claws loomed closer and closer with each swing, driving Kenshin further and further away from them. "Ah....aiiiee.....ah-haha!" He cried, avoiding yet another series of swings. These were so close that they actually struck the Thorn Dancer, scoring jagged scratches across its armored hull. Whenever the clawed arm crashed against the side of the machine Kenshin could hear Blind screaming from within. "Hahahahaa! Serves you right!" He yelled back. Blind apparently heard him over the ruckus he was raising and raised the arm up over the machine's head and brought it downward, as if to swat him like a bug. Kenshin slid down the slope of its round face to avoid the strike. "Gyah!" He suddenly cried out in surprise as he felt a strong grip lock down around his ankle. Kenshin tried to kick the offending hand away but that only caused him to lose his balance. He fumbled for a handgrip and managed to find one but dropped his spear in the process. Now hanging by one hand Kenshin found himself staring into the beastly face of Blind. "Release me prepare to taste my wrath!" The arrogant martial-artist yelled at him. His free hand balled into a fist and lashed out at Blind's face but came up short of actually striking him. And then Blind released him. "A wise decision!" Kenshin smirked as he regained a stable foothold on the machine's front. "Now come out of there so that we may AAAAIIIIIEEEEE!" Without warning the Thorn Dancer began spinning around as if caught in a typhoon. Kenshin held on for dear life but all too soon did his grip falter. Kenshin's scream continued unabated as he flew through the air. It ended with a loud "OOF!" when he struck the ground and trailed off into a series of pained gasps as he rolled to a stop. For the next several seconds Kenshin lay there in a daze, silent and still while he waited for the world to stop spinning. ~ A sudden loud explosion and wave of heat emanating from nearby brought Kenshin staggering back to his feet. He was still in a daze but he was ready to take on...whatever he was taking on. And then, there she was. Like an vision she came drifting across the sands towards him. Had his time finally come? Had the mighty Tiger's Claw finally met his demise? Surely this beautiful creature was an angel come to escort him to the Afterlife. ''I don't think it's over just yet.'' The angel said with a familiar voice. ''Think you're still up to it?'' And then, in that instant, the day's events began to rewind through Kenshin's recollection. Now he remembered what had happened and who it was that he'd been fighting. He wasn't dead after all. But Takibi was still an angel in his book. "I shall not fail you my lady." Kenshin clapped his fist to his palm and bowed his head in a show of respect. "And...I think I may have an idea that will prove its merit." ~ With a clatter of metal and a roar of its engine the Thorn Dancer righted itself. It looked far more banged up than Kenshin recalled it being before he'd been knocked silly but he knew that it was far from beaten. One thing about its altered appearance pleased him though. The machine's armored face had been torn completely away, revealing Blind completely. Kenshin grinned and a predatory gleam could be seen in his eyes now. The Rose Guards had been daunting as well until he'd learned that they were piloted by a flesh & blood human. Those he knew how to fight against. The Thorn Dancer had been altogether different though. Even the knowledge that a human being lurked within its heavily armed and highly mobile frame did not assuage Kenshin's doubts. But that was no longer the case. Seeing Blind so exposed gave Kenshin a solid target to pursue. That, in turn, boosted his confidence and gave him insight into how better to tackle the formerly unassailable Thorn Dancer. The matter of Blind's enhanced senses of smell and hearing had thrown him off a little at first but now Kenshin was aware of them. And that had given him another idea. Kenshin kept one eye on the Thorn Dancer while he crept across the burning sand. His bare feet made scarcely a sound as he stalked about the area, picking out a half dozen chunks of shattered masonry that littered the ground. After the explosive demise of the restaurant there was wreckage everywhere. And all of it tied into Kenshin's plan. With silent steps Kenshin made his way back over to where Takibi was standing. A short distance away Blind was straining his ears to make out even the slightest sound. Kenshin gestured for Takibi to be silent and then pointed at a large object off to their left. It was a broken corner of the restaurant's roof that had landed at an odd angle in the sand. Kenshin arched his arm back and then lobbed a chunk of the masonry towards it. His aim was true and the stone clattered against the wooden roof with a loud crack. There was no way Blind could not have heard it. And if he stayed true to form he'd waste no time in demolishing the source of the noise. ~ With Blind distracted for a moment Kenshin thrust the other five chunks of masonry into Takibi's hands. "Here, take these." He insisted. "When he calms down again I want you to throw them at something." Kenshin gestured towards a large hunk of stone nearby, at another piece of the roof and then at the Thorn Dancer itself. "It doesn't matter what. Just keep him distracted until I can get close enough to strike a fatal blow." Satisfied that Takibi understood what he had in mind Kenshin loped forward to where he'd dropped his spear and retrieved the weapon. Then he crouched down, silent and still, and waited for an opportunity to get close enough to drive it straight through Blind's heart. |

''Like a wild beast.'' Takibi mentioned as Kenshin made his way over to where she was waiting. ''Just listening out for us?'' She turned to see Kenshin making a gesture for he to keep quiet, something she at that moment figured was a good thing to do seeing how Blind seemed to react to sound. The machine or what was left of it after her attack was even to her little knowledge of how they work was on it's last leg. The engine was struggling to work and the treads looked like they could fall off at any given moment. Then as Kenshin stood by her side he pointed over to a roof that had once been part of the restaurant, now laying at an odd angle in the sand. At that moment Kenshin lobbed a chunk of masonry towards it, smashing against it with a loud crack as it rolled down it's side. Takibi's eyes darted over to Blind and just as the two of them had guessed true to his nature the savage Valuan twisted his head in the direction of the roof. His mouth open his tongue hung out as he licked his pointed teeth in anticipation. The treads started to spin in the sand, kicking dirt up behind as the Thorn Dancer rushed over and smashed into the roof, separating it in half. Not even a second past before the remaining arm with it's single blade started to lash down and out, tearing the roof to shreds. ''Now's your chance.'' Takibi whispered as Kenshin thrust five large chunks of masonry into her hands which she accepted. He explained how he wanted to to keep the Thorn Dancer distracted so that he could get up close and personal with Blind so that he could strike a fatal blow. She gave him a quick nod of her head and smile before turning her attention back at the machine that was almost done with smashing what was left of the roof segment. Kenshin took off to retrieve his spear as Takibi looked around for other objects to use as a distraction. ''Not bad.'' She muttered to herself after Kenshin had gone from ear shot. She was impressed with how he was managing the situation, taking in not only the opponent's weakness but strength too and finding a way to use it against him. Blind's hearing was indeed far above the average person but using objects to distract him had turned this strength into a weakness. She could only grin at the thought that he was far above that of the men she was training out here in the desert. That was when she remembered them all. ''Where are they!'' She asked herself while keeping an eye on the Thorn Dancer. She had asked them to run the desert and meet her at the restaurant, but surly they would of seen the restaurants' explosion from a distance. Then she thought what if they did not see that and are now looking for a place that no longer exists? These thought would have to wait, the longer they where out there the more exercise they where getting. Right now she had to think fast as the Thorn Dancer seemed to of stopped attacking the roof and was now sitting still as Blind raised his head again to listen for sound. She had to do something quick and before she knew it she had flung one of the five hunks of masonry directly towards the Thorn Dancer itself. As it flew across the air Blind's ears seemed to somewhat pick up the sound as he turned his head almost in the direction of the oncoming object. Then it hit and made contact with the very top of the Thorn Dancer. The moment it hit Blind twisted his head upwards at the sound and then like the creature he had become scurried out from his chair and up the side of the Thorn Dancer to where the masonry had hit. He put his face to the machine and started to sniff and then to Takibi's horror he turned his face directly at he from across the sands and let out a scream. She had not made a single sound and figured Blind had figured out from the sound of the hit and from when it was flying in the air the location it had come from. ''Best I get moving...'' Takibi told herself as she tried to not make any sound while moving across the sand. Just as she thought while keeping an eye on Blind his attention was still locked on where she had thrown the masonry from as he got back into his seat. |

After what seemed like an eternity Blind was satisfied that he'd smashed the source of the last noise thoroughly enough and spun around in search of the next one. Kenshin glanced expectantly towards Takibi and tensed up when she lifted her arm to throw a rock at whatever target she'd chosen. Kenshin was a little surprised when she chose the Thorn Dancer itself. But it turned out to be a pleasant surprise when her clever tactic brought Blind scuttling out from the machine's cabin to investigate. Seeing that the perfect opportunity to strike at him had arrived Kenshin bolted forward, raising his spear for a deadly thrust. His bare feet made little noise as he loped towards the Thorn Dancer. But then something unexpected happened. Now outside of the cabin Blind's nostrils were no longer being assaulted by the pepper floating about its interior. His nose twitched and his head pivoted about in the direction of Takibi. Kenshin saw his opportunity slip away the moment Blind slithered snakelike back behind the Thorn Dancer's controls. The impetuous young fighter knew that he only had a few seconds to act before the machine started to move again, this time in the priestess's direction. "HEY! Turn and face me! Kenshin suddenly blurted out without really giving much thought to what he was doing. Blind seemed only too willing to oblige him. The savage soldier's gave the Thorn Dancer's controls a jerk and the machine wheeled around in his direction. Sand churned out from beneath its treads in a thick cloud as it suddenly launched straight towards him, picking up speed as it moved. "Come and meet your destiny upon the tip of my spear!" Kenshin yelled out as he too dashed straight towards the Thorn Dancer as quickly as his legs would carry him. Somewhere in the back of his mind he was aware that what he was doing was reckless, dangerous and very, very stupid. If he managed to walk away from this encounter with only a few broken bones he'd consider himself fortunate. But, more than likely, he wouldn't be walking away at all. But those thoughts remained at the back of his mind. Standing at the forefront of Kenshin's thoughts were his all-consuming desire to defeat this bloodthirsty lunatic at any cost and impress the lovely Takibi in the process. His strategy was still valid. But the conditions under which he would carry it out had been altered ever so slightly. Blind's lips curled back over his jagged teeth in a feral snarl as he piloted the Thorn Dancer forward. Kenshin's eyes blazed with intensity as he rushed to meet it head-on. The deadly machine's remaining claw rose into the air; poised to slice the oncoming Yafutoman in half. The tip of Kenshin's spear caught a ray of errant sunlight and glittered dangerously. And then the two combatants clashed. Kenshin waited until the Thorn Dancer was nearly on top of him before he hurled his spear straight into its cockpit. Although he leapt aside, out of the mechanical beast's path at the last second, his weapon flew straight and true towards its intended target. But somehow Blind was able to dodge it. His ears pricked up when they heard the spear whistling through the air and gave him just enough forewarning to avoid the killing blow. The savage soldier gave the Thorn Dancer's controls a hard yank to the side, causing the machine to veer away from the spear's path. Kenshin rolled to one side while the Thorn Dancer veered to the other. The spear glanced off of the machine's side and landed a short distance away from its owner. The hot-headed young fighter cursed his bitter luck as he picked himself up off the ground and retrieved it. But Kenshin's anger swiftly melted away into a fit of gloating laughter when he saw what was happening to Blind. The sightless brute had changed the Thorn Dancer's course without bothering to slow down. Now the machine was swerving wildly out of his control across the desert sands. To make matters worse for Blind the Thorn Dancer's tread impacted a slab of masonry that had once been one of the restaurant's walls and rolled up onto it. With its remaining tread on the ground the machine now teetered on the brink of capsizing. And that's just what happened next. Just as the Thorn Dancer's tread rolled off of the slab Blind gave its controls another jerk to try and get it back under control. But this only served to throw it further off balance. There came the sound of metal grinding against metal, a great plume of sand rising into the air and an unintelligible how or rage from Blind as the Thorn Dancer flipped over onto its side. Kenshin trotted over to where Takibi was standing. He grinned triumphantly at her and waved his spear in the air. "Not quite what I had in mind but it was spectacular nonetheless!" He chuckled with glee. In the near distance the Thorn Dancer shook and rattled as Blind attempted to set it back upright with the machine's remaining arm. Kenshin knew the fight wasn't over yet but he couldn't help but feel elated at seeing the predicament his opponent was in right now. "If he knew what was best for him, he would stay down." Kenshin snorted arrogantly. "But I doubt that lunatic is ready to admit his defeat just yet." |

Takibi almost fell over while rushing to get away from where she was last standing before the Thorn Dancer made a move in that direction, that was before she hears Kenshin's voice call out. She managed to stop herself as she turned to see the machine turn it's attention away from her and speed towards Kenshin. Before should could even think of advising against what he was about to do the two of them charged at one another. A crazed Valuan with his machine of death against a mad Yafutoma with nothing more than his spear. She thought the worst but seconds before they collided Kenshin managed to dodge out of the way but Blind also managed to avoid his spear. Takibi placed her hand against her chest and let out a sigh of relieve as Kenshin stood back up. She knew he was good but surly what she just witnessed was pure luck, not that he would admit that but Takibi knew if there was one thing to motivate a man it was to show that she thought it was all skill. ''Your more skilled than one would of thought.'' Takibi gave a slight bow while looking up to see what was so funny as Kenshin came over to her. Then she saw it, in the distance the machine had managed to topple itself over. "Not quite what I had in mind but it was spectacular nonetheless!" Kenshin explained with a chuckle. ''Not so but still impressive.'' Takibi smiled back at him. ''My men could do with a few useful lessons from you.'' While keeping her eyes on the Thorn Dancer a worried look crossed her face. ''They should of been back from their training by now, maybe I was too hard on them?'' Just then the Thorn Dancer's remaining arm started to right itself. "If he knew what was best for him, he would stay down." Kenshin snorted arrogantly. "But I doubt that lunatic is ready to admit his defeat just yet." ''Then it is time to end this!'' Takibi took a step past Kenshin and stood facing the thorn Dancer as it finally righted itself and turned to face them. ''Seeing as their is no building or people to harm then I shall not hold back!'' Takibi placed her palms together in front of her chest as she closed her eyes. Under her breath she started to mutter in what sounded like ancient Yafutoman. Pulling her hands slowly apart a ball of fire appeared before her as it suddenly burst outwards into a circle on the ground around her. Symbols started to burn into the sand as a red glow surrounded her. While this was going on Blind let out a scream as the engine of the Thorn Dancer started up again. However the machine just rumbled on the spot as the now damaged treads spun around, hitting against both the sand and machine. Blind slammed his fists down on the controls, the missing drill section started up as the shoulder of the missing arm turned side to side. The crazed Valuan stood up in his seat and leaning his head back roared at the skies above. Just then he pointed towards Kenshin and Takibi, his left hand open and pointing as he grabbed the only working lever of the machine. In an instance the remaining arm swung down, then back up and down again till it was spinning around. Then as it reached it's top speed Blind lowered it, the last claw started to catch the rubble of the building and fling it at the two. Both small and large chunks of stone and wood flew at them. ''Almost there!'' Takibi said without opening her eyes, flames starting to kick up around her. ''Please, protect me for just a little longer!'' She pleaded with Kenshin as she kept on casting her spell, hoping that she is not hit by the wild attack. She left her trust in Kenshin to protect her till she had done. ~ The Thorn Dancer's arm started to slow down as Blind realised he had run out of things to toss at the two of them. Takibi had managed to stay still and cast her spell thanks to Kenshin's help. She suddenly opened her eyes which seemed for a second to glow red along with her Moon Stone necklace. ''Banon!'' She yelled as the circle of fire around her spun up and around into the air before vanishing. Then in the distance above the Thorn Dancer the air suddenly turned a dark shade of red and then it happened. The air itself around the thorn Dancer set alight and burst into flames. In an instance the machine exploded as parts of it flew across the desert. ''Wow.'' Takibi managed to mutter before falling over onto her knees. ''It's been a while since I've had to cast a Pyrulen spell.'' She managed to show Kenshin a smile. ''I'm just so glad it's over.'' She waited to see if Kenshin would help her up as she presumed he would from what she had already seen of him. ''And it seems my spell became a beacon.'' She raised her hand slightly to point past the rising smoke of the Thorn Dancer. If there was one thing she knew about the desert it was that rising smoke was something to investigate when in the middle of nowhere and so soon a ship would be passing by. Yet as well as it was all seeming to go a loud roar came from the burning Thorn Dancer. Takibi turned to look in horror. ''It can't be!'' There standing was Blind, his left arm on fire yet he did not seem to care, in fact he was looking directly at them. Then without warning he dropped down onto all fours and made a dash towards the two of them like a wild best. At the last moment he jumped and landed on Kenshin, knocking him over onto his back as Blind took a few snaps at him with his teeth. As the two struggled Takibi quickly picked up a small rock a this time flung it away from them towards a broken metal serving tray. The rock hit home as the sound rung out. Blind right away jumped off from Kenshin and headed for the direction of the sound, yet he had only taken a few steps when he stopped. Slowly he turned his head around and faced Kenshin and Takibi, his mouth turned to a grin as he shook it from left to right as if he knew they where still there and not where the sound had come from. ''Go...back...''Blind managed to say as he reached down and picked up a severed arm of one of the original guests. ''Ix...a..'' Blind tore the hand away leaving himself with a broken bone as a weapon. (This will be the final round for BLind so get your best attacks/hits in.) |

''Then it is time to end this!'' Takibi's bold declaration set Kenshin's heart to racing. Even though she was a shrine maiden she possessed the heart of a warrior. And she was also beautiful... "I yield the honor of delivering the final blow to you my lady." Kenshin bowed and stepped back out of Takibi's way. It was as much a show of respect as it was a retreat from the heat rising from the magic circle that surrounded the priestess. Kenshin wasn't much of a spell-caster so he didn't know what she had in mind. But whatever it was promised to be devastating. For his part Blind wasn't about to sit still and allow himself to go out in a blaze of glory. He'd managed to get the Thorn Dancer back upright but the mangled machine was in no shape to do anyone any further harm. And yet the cunning cannibal operating it found a way. Its remaining arm began to spin in the impeller of an airship, sending a wave of debris into the air. Kenshin's eyes traced the direction it was traveling in and was horrified to see that most of it was about to fall upon Takibi. For a mindless savage Blind sure seemed to be on the ball. Even a glancing blow would interrupt whatever spell she was casting. Takibi was also aware of the danger she was in. ''Almost there! Please, protect me for just a little longer!'' Her angelic voice called out to him. "Fear not! I will be your shield milady!" Kenshin vowed as he stepped in front of Takibi and raised his spear to intercept the oncoming debris. ~ "Hyaa!" Kenshin barked as he swung his spear downward to swat a wooden roof panel from the air. "Aiie-yah!" He cried, leaping into the air to spin kick a chunk of plaster, shattering it into a harmless cloud of grit. "Ahhhh.....is there no end to this?" The exhausted young martial-artist panted. It was becoming obvious to Kenshin that he'd tire out long before the Thorn Dancer ran out of steam. But he was also aware that he only had to hold out until Takibi completed her spell-casting. "Hmph! Two can play at that game!" Kenshin cried out with renewed vigor. "Hyaaaaaaaah!" Kenshin began spinning his spear about his body in a dizzying spiral. The weapon moved with such speed that it created a barrier between Takibi and Blind's barrage. The spear's rapidly spinning shaft deflected all of the incoming debris, knocking it aside or breaking it before it could reach the priestess. ~ As expected Takibi's spell was as powerful as it was flashy. Kenshin shielded his eyes with the back of his hand when the Pyrulen spell erupted and tore the Thorn Dancer to pieces, scattered them amongst the debris that lay all around them. "It seems our battle is at an end. The enemy has been defeated." Kenshin sighed wistfully in the aftermath of the explosion. "I doubt we could have won had it not been for your skill with flame magic." He added, completely unwilling to give Takibi all of the credit no matter how much he liked her. But he was only too happy to give her most of it. Just this once. ''It's been a while since I've had to cast a Pyrulen spell.'' Takibi replied with a charming smile. ''I'm just so glad it's over.'' She said something else after that but Kenshin didn't hear what it was. His attention was on the burning wreckage of the Thorn Dancer. Through the waves of heat he thought he saw something moving within the flames. "Oh hell no...." Kenshin muttered under his breath as Blind emerged from the twisted remains of his machine. He was battered and burning but far from beaten. "It can't be!'' Takibi cried in surprise at the sight. "But it is." Kenshin countered as he raised his spear against their tenacious foe. ~ Blind wasted no time in renewing his assault on the duo, this time without the aid of the Thorn Dancer. And Kenshin was more than willing to meet his challenge. For the first time since this battle had begun he was facing an adversary who was not ensconced within some death machine or another. Now on a level playing field Kenshin's self-confidence was back to its normal, absurdly high level, there was an attractive girl to impress and an enemy who had more than earned a severe ass-kicking in front of him. "Tiger Claw!" Kenshin shouted as he stabbed the tip of his spear into the sand. Suddenly a gout of flame ignited from its tip and raced across the ground towards Blind. This was one of his family's secret techniques for engaging an opponent who remained out of striking distance. While not as powerful as one of Takibi's spells it would certainly get the job done. That is, it would if it struck. But such was not the case. Once again Blind sensed the incoming attack and leapt over it. His momentum carried him forward and he tackled Kenshin, driving him to the ground. Kenshin managed to pull the haft of his spear around and lodged it beneath Blind's chin, holding him at bay. "Get....off of....me you brute!" The haughty young fighter demanded. But Blind wasn't interested in obliging him. Instead he opened his mouth, revealing a set of jagged, broken teeth. His jaw snapped open and shut in an attempt to take a bite out of Kenshin but the Yafutoman was able to fend him off. Still, he could not dislodge Blind due to the heavy weight of his armor. Thankfully Takibi came to his aid. She used their old trick to decoy Blind into releasing Kenshin. But it seemed that the savage Valuan had caught wise to their ploy and was not fooled this time. "Oh...gross. Is that a...uh, yes. That's gross." Kenshin blanched when Blind fished a severed arm out of the debris and brandished it like a weapon. ''Go...back...'' Blind mumbled cryptically. ''Ix...a..'' "I'll send you back where you belong." Kenshin growled. "To Hell!" ~ In a show of bravado Kenshin tossed his spear aside and struck a fighting pose. "I will offer you this handicap." He sneered at Blind. "I shall face you empty-handed." Unimpressed with Kenshin's gesture Blind rushed forward, wielding the jagged arm bone like a dagger. But after many years of training in the martial arts the arrogant young fighter was able to avoid the awkward attack with ease. He easily side-stepped the cannibal's outstretched arm and grappled it. With a deft twist Kenshin sent Blind sprawling into the sand. "Not so strong without your machine are you?" Kenshin gloated, hoping Takibi was watching him get the best of their enemy. Blind scrambled back to his feet and then leapt forward. The arm bone lashed downward towards Kenshin's head but, again, he deftly avoided the strike. As Blind landed he swung his fist out in a back-handed blow that crashed against the savage soldier's jaw and sent him reeling sideways. Kenshin was starting to enjoy himself now. Outside of the Thorn Dancer Blind was not very skilled at fighting. His senses were just as sharp but Kenshin wasn't trying to hide from him. No, the arrogant young fighter wanted this. He wanted to punish Blind for all the trouble he'd caused. He wanted to humiliate him before he ended this fight. And at the rate they were going Kenshin was certain it wouldn't last much longer. It was going to end very soon in an easy victory. Or was it? "What is with you?" Kenshin growled as Blind charged towards him again. This time he wasn't going to be satisfied with just tripping him or throwing him to the ground. The blind soldier just wasn't letting up no matter how one-sided their bout had become. It was time to turn things up a notch. As Blind rushed forward Kenshin swatted the bone aside and drove an open-palm strike into his nose. Blood gushed from his nostrils but Blind didn't seem to notice. Instead he staggered forward again, intent on continuing the fight. Kenshin snared his arm again, this time throwing Blind over his shoulder. No sooner had he struck the ground before the Yafutoman warrior's foot stomped down on his temple. Blind flinched from the blow but quickly recovered and hoisted himself back to his feet to face Kenshin again. "Stay down!" Kenshin screamed at him. He delivered a spinning roundhouse kick to the side of the savage soldier's bloodied face. While he was reeling from the blow Kenshin repeating the move, this time striking low to sweep Blind's legs out from under him. He went down yet again. And yet again Blind rose. Kenshin slowly backed away from him to consult with Takibi. "How is it that he is able to stand against my strength thus?" He asked in confusion. "Does this man not know the meaning of pain?" With his face now covered in his own blood Blind looked as if he'd just stepped out of a horror story. He gnashed his jagged teeth and brandished the broken bone as he approached the two Yafutomans. Kenshin could feel his confidence beginning to wane once more. "What will it take to stop you?" He growled low in his throat. Whatever it was he was no longer certain he possessed it. |

Takibi wasn't too surprised when Kenshin let down his weapon, proclaiming that he would take on the savage empty-handed. What did surprise her however was the situation as it was different from when any other man she had seen fight. For a start his opposition was no longer what she would call civilised and on top of that was using a severed arm for a weapon, one he was not willing to give up any time soon. Yet she was impressed with Kenshin with how he took to this fight. It was clearly now a one on one but she was ready to assist in any form she could. However while the two started to exchange blows, Kenshin giving out more of the punishment than the Valuan was doing, she could not help but wonder why her magic did not seem to of had an effect on him. Looking back he was even on fire for a short time and now he was being tossed around by Kenshin refusing to stop no matter how many times his face met with the ground. "Stay down!" Kenshin yelled as Blind kept on getting back up to his feet. Takibi started to notice that each time was in fact slower for him to get to his feet but each time he did manage to stand. "How is it that he is able to stand against my strength thus?" Kenshin started to back away from the savage and towards the Shrine Maiden. "Does this man not know the meaning of pain?" He seemed confused at how his opponent kept on coming back for more. "What will it take to stop you?" ''No....He doesn't.'' Takibi muttered as Kenshin stood by her. He doesn't feel it, he doesn't feel pain.'' Her expression turned to one of almost sorrow as if she was starting to feel sorry for Blind. ''The flames, he did not feel them. Or any of our attacks.'' She turned to look at Kenshin. ''It's not that we are not doing any harm, just he is unaware of it to himself.'' Takibi pointed at Blind as he took a few steps closer to them, sniffing at the air to locate where they were standing. Every now and then he would stumble when he took a step, and after effect of some of the attacks that had hurt him. ''He is just like any other animal, no longer is he human.'' Takibi took a set towards Blind as she held out her hand. ''Think about it Kenshin. Did we not all attack him first?'' Takibi thought back at how the moment Blind entered the scene he was attacked by everyone else. ''He was only trying to escape from that ship? Isn't that right?'' Takibi took another step closer as Blind turned his head to face her, showing his teeth as he started to grow under his breath. ''It's not right for him to be a captive.'' Takibi turned her head to look over at Kenshin for a moment. A look of concern on her face as she closed her eyes before turning back to face Blind who was ready to strike at any moment. ''Yet is it fair for him to keep on living the way he is. Surly death would be best.'' Takibi's eyes shot open and as Blind jumped at her what was once an open hand became a fist as flames burst from her hand. ''Bana!'' She yelled as the Pyri spell knocked Blind out of the air as he jumped at the Maiden, rolling backwards across the sand. ''Let's make this quick Kenshin! for his sake...'' Takibi raised her hands out in front of her as the same red burning circle from before appeared around her, but before she could utter a single word a sand storm kicked up from behind them both. ''What in the world!?'' Takibi said as she turned to face where a familiar sound was coming from, using her kimono sleeves to cover her eyes from the sand. There not far off behind them was a small Nasr patrol ship heading in their direction. Sailing so low and close that it was kicking up a sand storm in their direction. ''It's them!'' Takibi rushed over to Kenshin as she waved at the ship. Standing on deck and only just visible where her training group, all leaning over the side of the ship, waving and yelling for their teacher. ''Took their time!'' She smiled to herself before turning back to face Blind. ''What, but how....where?'' Takibi stood with her eyes wide open as she looked out across the empty desert. Blind was nowhere to be seen. Within the blowing sand caused from the ship all it took was a moment and he was gone. ''I guess the sound of the ship scared him off?'' Takibi could not believe her eyes. ''But where to?'' There was no real place that he could of gone, in fact the only thing around was the remains of the thorn Dancer and that was far beyond repair. ''Should we check it out?'' Takibi looked at the remains of the machine before looking at Kenshin. ''Then again out here he won't survive and I do pity him. A peaceful death might be best fitting.'' Takibi then took Kenshin's hand as she looked him in the eyes. ''And besides, I must thank you properly once we are back to civilization.'' (This will be your last post. You can board the ship of if you have another way to leave the desert you can use that. My post after will be the last and in which I will lock the thread.) |

Kenshin's hands were shaking as he retrieved his spear and sidled back to where Takibi was standing. He leveled the weapon's tip at Blind and waited for the savage Valuan to charge the two of them. This time he would not pull his punches. This time he was serious. Kenshin had already realized what it would take to stop his opponent; death. But while he was waiting for Blind to rush them Takibi began speaking in his favor, as if she were having second thoughts. Kenshin wasn't surprised by her compassion; she was a holy woman after all. Even so he could not bring himself to agree with her. Kenshin stared intently at Blind. He had engaged this man in combat and knew that the mad Valuan was not someone to be pitied. He was to be respected, perhaps even feared. Despite the loss of his vision and his sanity Blind had survived. Kenshin could admire that sort of tenacity. From a very early age he had learned that weakness, be it physical or mental, was a handicap that one would have to overcome if they were to ever stand proudly on their own two feet. And to his mind Kenshin felt that that was what Blind had done. The bloodthirsty soldier was obviously not in his right mind but neither was he babbling like a buffoon on the floor of a padded cell. He had overcome his insanity by harnessing the primitive instincts lying buried in his psyche. And the loss of his sight had only sharpened Blind's other senses to the point where he could function normally without it. Those were truly impressive feats of willpower. At for those reasons Kenshin was shocked when Takibi asked that he assist her in putting Blind out of his misery. "Well yes but....easier said than done." He stuttered a reply just as the cannibal soldier made his move. He lunged forward but was blasted out of the air by another fiery spell cast by the priestess. ''Let's make this quick Kenshin! for his sake...'' Takibi urged him to strike a killing blow while Blind was still reeling from her attack. Kenshin dashed forward, his spear jutting out before him like the prow of a ship, poised to drive through Blind's chest and stop his heart for good. He still didn't believe that the blind soldier deserved to die for the reasons Takibi had listed. No, this wasn't going to be an act of pity; it would be an honorable death for a worthy opponent. And that was why Kenshin, not Takibi, had to be the one to end his life. "If you are truly strong then deny your fate!" Kenshin yelled at Blind. "But if you have lost your will to live then your fate is sealed!" Kenshin did not take his eyes off of the wounded soldier for a second; not even when a cloud of sand kicked up all around them, obscuring their sight. Takibi did not see what happened next but Kenshin did, albeit not very well. Just as Kenshin drove his spear towards Blind's chest a wave of sand blew in behind him to envelop them both. He resisted the urge to close his eyes against the stinging grit but was forced to blink. In that moment he felt more than saw the tip of his spear strike the feral soldier in the arm. Its Moon Stone head sank into his flesh and drove straight through. But, once again, Blind didn't react to the pain at all. "Urr....too hot..." Blind's voice growled beneath the howling wind. "Go back....Ixa....must go...." And then Kenshin felt a heavy blow to the side of his head. Black starbursts swan before his eyes, further clouding his vision. He staggered to one side and then fell reflexively into a defensive stance. But the attack of opportunity he'd feared never came. The exhausted young fighter rose shakily to his feet and shook his head to clear both his vision and his thoughts. The cloud of dust had died down now. As he'd expected Blind was nowhere to be seen. Kenshin glanced down at his spear and smirked when he beheld the severed limb the savage warrior had wielded against him earlier skewered on its tip. "So the flesh I struck wasn't yours after all?" He chuckled at the cunning cannibal's ruse. ''I guess the sound of the ship scared him off?'' The voice of Takibi called to Kenshin from behind. Kenshin merely shrugged. ''But where to?'" Takibi persisted. ''Should we check it out?'' "Just let him go." Kenshin sighed. "If I were inclined to chase down every opponent who ran away from me I'd have no feet left!" He boasted with a hearty laugh. But in truth Kenshin didn't relish the idea of a pursuing Blind any further. He could well imagine the harm such a foe would inflict upon them when he was backed into a corner. ''Then again out here he won't survive and I do pity him. A peaceful death might be best fitting.'' Takibi sighed. Again Kenshin could only shrug. He knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that Blind would find his way out of the desert alive. He was, after all, a survivor. The pleasant sensation of Takibi slipping her hand into his own caused any further speculation on Kenshin's part to cease abruptly. He could feel his skin beginning to redden and his pulse to quicken as she gazed up at him. ''And besides, I must thank you properly once we are back to civilization.'' Her words filled him with lurid thoughts that pushed any others out of his mind. "S,sure, okay." Kenshin babbled as he allowed Takibi to lead him onto the ship that had just arrived. "My...er, dhabu has left me anyway so...yeah." He accepted her offer of a ride back to civilization with a sheepish voice. ~ It wasn't until Kenshin was standing on its deck that he realized he hadn't really taken notice of the ship until that moment. He was vaguely aware of its gusty arrival but had been wrapped in a haze of love/lust while being brought on board. But now that Takibi had released him from her spell he was able to get his bearing and familiarize himself with his new surroundings. Kenshin's gaze was first drawn to the ship's railing and the desert that lie beyond. He couldn't help but to look around the area below for some sign of the vanished Blind. The savage soldier was somewhere out there right now, loping across the sand, impervious to the sun's blistering heat. His nose would lead him to civilization eventually. Of that Kenshin was certain. Voices from across the deck attracted Kenshin's notice. He turned away from the railing to observe the actions of several of his countrymen. Each one was young and fit, like him, and each one was dressed in the manner of a trainee. "Hmm, are they with the priestess?" He wondered to himself, curious as to why so many other Yafutomans had wound up in this Moons-accursed desert together. And then suddenly a thought surged up out of Kenshin's memory to strike him like a bolt from the blue. It wasn't a coincidence that they were here together like this at all! These men had all come here to train under Takibi's tutelage just as he had followed them in search of.... "Kawamori Sho!" Kenshin cried, attracting the attention of the other men on the deck. "Show yourself!" At his sudden and unexpected request all of the trainees curiously turned their eyes upon one of their own. That one, having been outed by his peers, nervously stepped forward to see what the tattooed warrior wanted with him. "You! I have been searching...for you." Kenshin grinned fiercely, pointing an accusing finger at Sho. "I am...Kenshin the Ti...Tiger's Claw!" He yelled excitedly, his breath coming in quick, ragged gasps. "And I...I...am here to....to challenge you....to....a....duuuuuel....." Kenshin's last word was slurred when he promptly lost consciousness and fell face-first to the deck with a dull thud. It seemed that the day's excitement coupled with his reckless exuberance had finally caught up with him. While Kenshin's fighting spirit was inexhaustible the same could not be said for his body. It needed rest and had just shut down. And so Kenshin's hard day of fighting ended with him lying unconscious on the ground. It wasn't the first time that this sort of thing had happened and it wouldn't likely be the last. But this time he could not complain about it. It wasn't often that he had someone like Takibi to tend to his wounds and watch over him while he slept. "Mmmm....Taki-chan...." Kenshin muttered in his sleep as he lay, baking in the sun like a fish on the grill. And thus the battle ended for Kenshin, the Tiger's Claw. |

With Kenshin now on board the ship Takibi took a moment to wonder over to her group. ''What took you all so long!?'' She snapped at them as she placed her hands on her hips. ''A short jog around the area we started in this morning then meet me at that building I said.'' The men started to mumble amongst themselves, looking for an excuse. What had happened was they found some shelter from the heat and took a moment to rest their eyes. In fact it was the explosion of the nearby building that woke the group up from their slumber. ''I had to endure a Valuan pretty boy who spent most of his time looking at himself and a savage who turned out to be more of a fighter than all of you!'' Takibi pointed at her men as a grin appeared on her face. ''I think you all need some extra training, yes. When we get back to port I think I'll put you all to work.'' The group all let out a sigh as they looked at one another. They knew their slacking off would catch up with them sooner of later. ''However it wasn't all bad.'' The Shrine Maiden turned to look over her shoulder at Kenshin who was looking out across the desert. She could see from the look on his face that he was thinking of Blind and from a warriors perspective she knew he must of been glad that he got the chance to fight such a foe. She her self could train a man up to fight but if there was one thing she lacked and ever so wished for it was what a warrior called heart. She took Blind for a savage and nothing more, yet Kenshin's words made her think twice. Looking back on it some of the things Blind pulled off where more impressive than what her own men could achieve and still Kenshin was easily a match for the savage. ''Now that's a real warrior right there.'' Takibi pointed over at Kenshin as she waved her other finger at the Yafutoma men. Not once did he back away. "Kawamori Sho!" Suddenly Kenshin yelled. Takibi looked surprised but no more so then the others. The group seemed to all back away from one of the men as Sho stepped nervously forwards to show himself. What came next was only what Takibi could guess was a challenge of sorts. She had to guess as Kenshin passed out right there and then. ''I don't know how he knows you but you best run when we hit port.'' Takibi wondered over to the Ship's captain as she spoke to her men. ''Got any crates that need moving? This lot just volunteered. Takibi shot a grin at her men then a smile at the Nars Captain who was only pleased to put the men to work. "Mmmm....Taki-chan...." Takibi heard Kenshin mutter as he lay on the deck. ''Hehe I guess I leave quite the impression.'' She giggled to herself as she sat down besides him and put his head on her lap. She covered him from the heat with a spare cloth as she slipped a ticket into one of his pockets. ''Wait till you see me on stage.'' Her next show was a while off but she wanted to make sure that the two of them might one day meet again. She wasn't sure if it was because Kenshin was such a great warrior or if it was something more. This made her think of Blind out in the desert. She silently agreed with Kenshin that he too would survive, after all it's in his nature. (This marks the end of this Boss Battle. Will now lock and add Moon Berries.)
