This Battle takes place in what was once an old rundown building standing alone in the desert of Nasr. Almost as if over night it was done up into a theater and restaurant. Posters have gone up around Nasr with talk of wonderful food and a show you'll never forget. ~ ''I..I can't go on...'' The warrior from Yafutoma fell to his knees, only holding onto his lance was all between him sitting there and falling over exhausted from the head of the desert. ''wasn't sparring on the steps of the Pyuramisu Shinden enough?'' Several other men made a tactical retreat to a safe distance from the mad as their group's leader and instructor approached him. ''Pyrynn! The Temple of Pyrynn is what they call it out here!'' The woman stood over him with one hand against her hip while the other held up a small note book. ''If you want to join the Yafutoma army then you will push yourself to no end!'' She closed the book and placed it back inside her kimono belt. She the twirled around to face the direction that she had been marching the men in. ''I did not bring here here for fun. The harsh heat and desert sand is perfect to toughen you all up.'' She then spun back around to face the group, her hand pointed out as the tip of her finger sparked a flame. The gold necklace around her neck was as bright as the Red moon. ''Pyri!'' In a flash the ground at the feet of the warriors burst into flame, to which they all managed to only just jump aside from. ''Miss Takibi, wasn't that a little extreme?'' The eldest member of the group asked while recovering from his shacking knees. ''Want to be the best right? Then get going!'' Takibi points out behind herself towards a lone building in the distance. ''Wait, you want us to go there? Fo..for..food and a rest?'' The men smiled as it seemed there hours of training had paid off. ''No stupid!'' Takibi snapped. ''Your going to do a lap around this part of the desert, then up and down the stairs of the temple...five times! One more lap and then you can meet me inside for food and rest.'' ''Your not coming?'' The men seemed some what down that they would be doing all this training while Takibi got to rest. ''You would have me do such things now would you?'' Takibi placed a finger to her lips and put on her innocent face. ''After all I'm just a shrine maiden, out here under this heat in my best kimono too.'' There was no arguing with her, they all knew it was an act and in truth Takibi was probably the toughest of the Ishikawa sisters. Having been the only one to carry on their tradition of aiding warriors into battle while the others did not see the need in this day and age. Even if she took things a little too far. ''Don't keep me waiting!'' She waved the men off with a smile before turning back towards the lone building. As soon as the others where out of sight she pulled a sheet of paper from her kimono's belt. ''Grand opening, food, drink and grand shows!'' She read a few select words from the poster. ''And here I thought it would be all work work work out here Nasuru Oukoku.'' Takibi paused for a moment as she pulled out her note book. ''Nasr Kingdom!! I knew that!'' She looked around to make sure no one was around. ~ ''Sand, sand, sand!'' Takibi muttered to herself as she hit her sandals against the wall of the building. As she placed them back on her feet she had a good look at the odd building. It looked like the others she had seen while staying at Nasr, yet it looked new just as if it had been built over night. The decorations outside suggested it had a stage and shows going on inside while the board hanging up said there was also food. ''Food and a show? Wonder if they can top my dancing.'' She did a twirl outside before having a little giggle to herself. Without looking back she entered the building. ''Table for one Miss?'' A tall man in a suit bowed with one arm out in front of him. ''Er, sure.'' Takibi was taken back. She was not used to such customs, but managed to be seated with no problems. ''Would you like to see the drinks menu? Or maybe Miss is hungry?'' The waiter handed her a menu. ''Just a soup and some water please.'' Takibi scanned the menu but did not want to mention that unlike a few of her sisters she could not make heads or tales of the writing. ''Very good Miss.'' The waiter took the menu back as he bowed again. ''They show will be starting soon, I hope you enjoy it.'' with that the mean walked away. Takibi smiled him off and then turned her attention to her table. It was small and only had two chairs, one of which she was occupying now. A few dishes and cups around the edges along with strange looking cutlery. ''How nice.'' She spotted the white rose in the middle of the table. ''Never have I seen such a flower.'' The Maiden looked around and saw that each table had a rose but not all were white. Some red while others black. That was when she saw the stage. ''Is that it?'' She said to herself, noting it was not as impressive as the one at her home, the Tsuki Shrine. ~ ''Another has arrived sir.'' The waiter reported in a room behind the stage. ''I believe a white rose was in order for her.'' ~ Time limit for each post is seven days after the last post is made. Fail to post and your character will be killed. Post order - Daiohna Bear Jea |

Noonday was not the best of times for one to be journeying across the breadth of Nasr's great desert. The sun was highest in the sky, searing the sands beneath it like a furnace and heating the very air until it was almost painful to breathe in. The only relief to be had from the heat was a light wind that had blown in. But this brought with it a stinging haze of grit as it kicked up the sand, causing far more discomfort than it offered to alleviate. Those who dwelled along the fringes of the desert were wise enough not to venture out under such conditions. And yet a singular figure appeared in the midst of the sand and heat. He sat astride a beleaguered dhabu that struggled to bear him towards his destination. His frame was draped from head to toe in a white robe that shielded his flesh from the unforgiving sun and his face was wrapped with a cloth to prevent any airborne particles of sand from passing through his nostrils. Despite the garb he wore and his mode of transportation this man was most definitely not a native to the region. And despite the precautions he'd taken to ease his passage across the desert it was rapidly becoming apparent to him that perhaps he should seek shelter until later in the day when the sun had begun its descent and this accursed sandstorm had abated. ~ "Kawamori Sho." The figure atop the dhabu growled the name. "No matter where you hide, my righteous fist shall seek you out!" "Mmmhhuuu" The dhabu replied. For, aside from its rider, it was the only other creature within earshot. The rider gave its reins a tug that dhabu to a stuttering halt. With obvious irritation he snatched the cloth from his face, revealing youthful features that betrayed the man's Yafutoman lineage. He thrust a hand into the pocket of his robe and fished out a tattered piece of parchment. Upon it was written several names in the language of his people. Most of them had a line scored through them but a couple had yet to be scratched off. "Kawamori Sho." The rider spat one of those names. "I'm coming for you. Wait for me!" ~ Scarcely five minutes had passed since the man's vow and he was beginning to regret it. He never questioned his decision to chase his prey into the depths of the desert. Rather he was content to curse Kawamori Sho's decision to come here in the first place. Curse that and the weather and the heat and this ridiculous animal that refused to move any faster no matter how vigorously he snapped the reins! There was also the fact that there wasn't a single rock, crevice, or tree anywhere in sight that might offer some measure of cover from the sand and sun..... As the dhabu plodded on the rider was left with nothing better to do than to reflect on what had brought him this far.... ~ Not long after his humiliating defeat and subsequent banishment from his home village in Yafutoma the young man, known as Kenshin the Tiger Claw, had sought to heal his wounded pride and further his own training by tracking down the members of the last class to graduate from his clan's dojo and defeat them one by one in honorable duels. Kawamori Sho was one of the few remaining members of that class. After his graduation he had gone on to join Yafutoma's Royal Navy. He had not been the first to do so and yet Sho was proving far more difficult to track down than the rest. This was all thanks to the unorthodox training regimen he was now undertaking at the hands of his new instructor. Kenshin couldn't fathom why it had been necessary for Sho's squad to travel beyond the Dark Rift, all the way to the deserts of Nasr to train. Nor had he bothered to do any research into the identity of whoever was behind that order beyond the rumor that the instructor was a shrine maiden. That was all he'd needed to know before dismissing her as irrelevant. After all, what harm could some priestess do? Kenshin's only concern was tracking down Kawamori Sho, challenging him to an honorable duel and then honorably beating him to a pulp. And once his name was crossed off of Kenshin's hit-list he would leave this searing sandbox and go in search of his next target. "Kawamori....Sho...." Kenshin gasped in the heat. "Where...the blazes....are you hiding?" ~ Kenshin had heard tales of desert mirages and yet he hadn't put any stock in them at all. He hadn't until now at least. For a moment it seemed as if the waves of heat rising from the sand were blurring his vision. Surely that was it! There was no way he was really seeing what had seemingly appeared out of nowhere before him. Surely the fancy restaurant right in front of him was a mirage. "Mmmhhuuu!" Or perhaps it wasn't. The dhabu also saw it and was now loping towards it despite Kenshin's firm grip on the reins. "Kawamori Sho!" Kenshin shouted as he raced across the sands towards the restaurant. "Do not take this as a sign of hesitation! I will never let you escape from me! I'm...merely taking a moment to replenish my strength before confronting you!" ~ Sure enough the restaurant was real. Kenshin could not deny its existence when he was standing upon its front stoop. Behind him the dhabu slurped noisily from a trough of water that had been filled for just such a purpose. Seeing the animal slaking its thirst only served to increase Kenshin's own. He tried to swallow but found his mouth to be as dry as his throat was. "I too shall cleanse my palate." Kenshin informed the dhabu. "And perhaps take a meal as well." Kenshin entered the restaurant and sighed deeply as the cool air washed across his body. He'd scarcely exhaled before an attractive young woman dressed in the manner of a waitress approached him. "Welcome sir! How many of you will be dining with us today?" She inquired in a chipper voice. "Uh...just me." Kenshin stuttered a reply. The waitress nodded and ushered him into the dining area. "Right this way sir. I'll have a table prepared for you." She smiled back at him over her shoulder. "Yes, thank you." Kenshin responded crisply. In short order Kenshin was shown to a table in a corner of the room where he was offered a menu. "May I take your order please sir?" The waitress asked, producing a writing pad and pen from her pocket. "I should like an order of onigiri with a side of gyoza. Also, a pitcher of Mur Loqua." Kenshin responded without so much as glancing at the menu. "Um...well, we have Mur Loqua." The waitress began nervously. "But I don't think we stock...oni...onigumi." She stumbled over the Yafutoman words. Kenshin thrust the menu back at her and rolled his eyes. "Ugh, just some vegetables then. You have those right? Or is this Moons-blasted kingdom devoid of any sort of plantlife?" "We have vegetables, all kinds!" The waitress brightened a bit. "I'll bring you out a nice cold veggie tray then!" "Very good." Kenshin nodded and settled back in his chair to rest. His eyes fell across the stage and he turned to the waitress. "Will there be a show?" He asked curiously. The waitress smiled back at him. "Oh yes, a wonderful show is about to start." She replied with an odd glint in her eyes before bustling off into the kitchen. The waitress returned a moment later with a pitcher of chilled loqua and a glass. "Will there be anything else for you sir?" She asked as she placed them down in front of Kenshin. The haughty young warrior looked silently from her, to his empty cup and then glared pointedly back at her again. "Oh, my apologies sir!" The waitress gasped as she hastily filled the cup with loqua for him. "And...let me just get that for you too." She gestured towards an empty vase that sat to the side of his table. From some hidden pocket the waitress produced a strange flower that Kenshin could not identify. It had a long, thorny stem and petals of a deepest black. "Your entree will be out shortly sir. I hope that you enjoy your stay." She added, bowing respectfully before retreating once again into the kitchen. Kenshin sipped at his loqua and grimaced when its quality did not meet with his approval. "Perhaps the day's entertainment will prove more satisfying." He grumbled, turning his gaze back towards the stage. "I wonder what sort of show they will put on." |

“Party of... Oh my, are you okay Miss?” A well dressed man blinked in mild alarm as he cast his gaze downward at the young guest who had stumbled inside. “'m f'n'.” Alondra slurred, the man taking a moment to puzzle out what she'd said. “j'st 'n'.” “Yes, well, let me take you to your table. I ah, would assume the Miss would like something to drink?” The man asked, leading her to a nearby table. “Perhaps a refreshing glass of milk?” She nodded in a mild daze, immediately seeming much more lively after sitting down, and the man scurried off; pausing only to place a red rose in a vase on her table, alongside a white one. She hardly noticed, enjoying the much cooler atmosphere inside the building. It was far from cold, but it was definitely more enjoyable than the blistering heat outside. It was no wonder the man had been taken by surprise when she had stumbled in; she had underestimated just how hot Nasr could get, and had determined that her usual clothes would work just fine. Clothes that included a large sweater, the sleeves rolled up to the shoulder and the length tucked in on itself. Her hair was somehow more disheveled than usual, and her goggles were askew; one eye covered while the other lens still rested on her forehead. Blinking as she snapped out of her doze, a large glass of creamy white milk being placed on the table. She snatched it up before the clink of glass on table had even finished, practically turning it upside down as the blissful cool of the drink washed through her and quenched her thirst. A little dribbled out the side and down her chin, but she paid it no heed until the glass had been drained entirely and she set it down with a big contented sigh. “Much better.” Alondra commented to herself, slouching in her chair as she pushed her goggles entirely onto her forehead and straightened out her sweater. “Very good.” The man nodded, seeming amused and mildly relieved that she hadn't keeled over while he was gone, handing her a menu. “Now then, Miss, would you like to order before the show begins?” Alondra took the menu in confusion, glancing over it with a furrowed brow. She had no idea what half of this even said, and what few things she could pick out she wasn't entirely sure what were. She definitely didn't want anything hot, though... Doing her best to pretend she was merely looking through the menu, she looked up to the man again. “Erm, something nice and cold sounds good... Any suggestions...?” The man considered the question with a half-raised eyebrow. “Would the miss prefer the Desert Dessert Special, perhaps?” “Suuure...? Sounds good to me!” Alondra nodded hesitantly. She had no idea what that was, although she did think that sounded tasty. With a name like that, it had to be something a lot of people got to combat the absolutely ridiculous weather in this place. “Oh, and some more milk!” The well dressed man nodded, taking his leave. For the first time since stepping foot in the place, the engineer took in her surroundings. It wasn't the most high class place ever, but it was definitely a nice restaurant. She'd rather a less fancy place than one that went crazy overkill on things any day. She certainly didn't feel all that out of place either, given how random the other people here seemed to be. Although she had to admit she was probably one of the more disorderly looking. Her gaze soon focused on the stage. What kind of things did they do here? Maybe some kind of goofy circus act? She had heard Nasr was famous for dancers though, so maybe it was something like that? Her attention shifted to the flowers that seemed to be in vases on the tables, noting the white and red ones in her own. She cast a shifty glance around before reaching out to poke at the delicate petals. “What kind of flower is this?” She puzzled. The petals were extremely smooth and soft from the looks of it. She'd have to take her gloves off to be sure, but it reminded her of some kind of really fancy fabrics some rich folks had sometimes. She had unfortunately seen very little plant life, much less extravagant flowers, so she couldn't really figure much other than that. Given how barren this place seemed to be so far, though, she wasn't sure if these things were native or not. She considered picking one of them up, but decided against it. Places like this had the weirdest rules and she had no idea if she was allowed to or not. Although it wasn't like she cared too much, she just wanted to make sure to get her food. she'd trudged through that miserable desert to get here, and she was not leaving until she was totally and completely satisfied! She certainly hoped the show was good, too, since it had been such a pain to get here in the first place. It certainly was a good thing she hadn't tried to walk here, of all things, or she might have died; stubborn or not, only a crazy person would even try to walk anywhere in this heat. |

''Sir, every table is full and I doubt that anyone else will be coming by any time soon.'' The waiter reported to his boss in the back room. ''How many white?'' The man sitting with his legs up asked. He took a sip of wine from his glass as he flicked his hair out from his eyes. ''A few but not many, I'm not sure what you expected all the way out here.'' The 'waiter' took his top off to reveal typical pirate wear under it. ''You have a few black ones out there too you know.'' The man just smiled as he took another sip from his glass. More 'waiters' entered the back room as they changed out of their disguises and back into their original clothing. ''It's almost show time, and the star is about to shine!'' The leader fished his drink then placed his glass down and stood up, facing a door that lead deeper into the back of the building. ''I do dislike sharing the stage with another, but for her I'll make an exception.'' As soon as his words where spoken he disappeared into the back. ''I can tell it's going to be a good show.'' One of the pirates mentioned to the group as he picked up his sword. ''A few red ones out there so at least we get some fun of our own.'' ''You kidding me, you take care of them! I'm watching these guys!'' One of the female members of the group said as she pointed at several in the room who were putting on some heavy looking armor. ''I wish I would get promoted so I can try them out.'' ''Really?'' The same man replied back to her. ''Do you know how much work it is to get them going?'' ~ Takibi took out her note book from before and placed it open on the table in front of her. She checked over what work had been done today, trying to see if she could fit any more in for the so called warriors she was training up. Smiling to herself she wondered if they took her mean attitude towards them seriously or not. Most knew it was just her way of motivating them, and it worked pretty well. ''Here you go miss, today's soup.'' A female waiter placed the bowl in front of her before hurrying off. ''Odd. Oh well.'' Takibi said to herself. She was expecting the same waiter from before as it was custom to her but she shook it off as something they must of done out here. After a few mouth fulls of the soup she started to look around. Seeing that everyone else was enjoying their food and drinks, yet something seemed strange. ''where did they all go?'' She asked herself as she realized that almost all the staff had gone missing. However her question would have to wait as on that que the lights started to dim as two large spot light flooded the stage. The curtains pulled back as several pirates walked onto the stage. ~ ''Ladies and gentlemen men, prepare for a show like none other.'' The lead man started to speak as he raised his sword. ''The tale of an eccentric man who's love for the arts drives him to the edge.'' The lights start to change many different colours as they spin around the stage, centering on the back Curtin which had yet to open. Then the lights stopped and the curtains pulled back. A single man stood with his head held high and his arms stretched out above him. ''Yes it is I, Arnold Lance! Please ladies don't all rush at once.'' Arnold looked forwards at the people in the room. ''There not rushing?'' He then lowered his arms. ''Er Roy, where is my cheer?'' ''Ah, just a moment sir.'' The man known as Roy pulled out his pistol and fired randomly at a group of people sat around a red rose. Hitting one in the center of his head as he fell backwards from his chair. Almost everyone was frozen in shock as the people around the now dead man screamed, yet no one stood up from fear of being the next one shot. ''Ah, my cheer. Music to my ears.'' Arnold took a bow in center stage. ''Now I know you must all be honored to get to see me. I know I'm still making a name for myself but everyone has to start somewhere.'' ''I don't know who you are or do I care!'' A rather large man who looked to of been from Nasr shouted out. ''Ah, I'll deal with you very soon.'' Arnold casually replied as he pointed towards the black rose on the man's table. ''I don't care either! Now how do I get out of here.'' A second man called out, a simple merchant. ''Oh my, red. What a shame.'' Arnold said as he shot a glance over at Roy who in turn took out his pistol and shot the man, dropping him where he stood. A few people started to panic but as they looked around it became clear that some point while they were eating the doors had all been locked tight. ''What happened to the show!'' Another merchant called out, wanting answers. ''Your just a bunch of Black Pirates aren't....'' Before he could finish a shot sounded as he too fell to the floor, knocking over his table as he fell causing the vase and red rose to tumble out. ''Now then.'' Arnold took out a small mirror and started to flick his hair out from his eyes while still managing to cover up the scare he had. ''Your probably wondering why your here, well don't ask me. Your the ones who wondered in.'' He put his mirror away. ''I kid, your all part of this grand show. We have the star, me.'' He took a bow. ''And in act three you the hero get to challenge me.'' ''If you have a black rose you have been selected for battle.'' Roy yelled out. Takibi looked down at her rose, ''White?'' She muttered. Looking around she right away saw a pattern. Everyone who was seated with a Black rose looked like the type of people she would train up. Fighters, warriors, men who looked like they would get into a fight over something so simple. It was clear to her that this Black Pirate wanted to prove himself, and go about it in a very eccentric way. Looking at him she knew she had seen his type before. Upper Valuan with too much money and no brains. How this one became a Black Pirate she did not care, she only wanted to know what he had in store for the others colours. ''White Rose holders, well it's your luck day.'' Arnold smiles, showing off his white perfect Valuan teeth, probably paid for. ''You have been deemed as beautiful as, well me. so come and dance, join me and my crew. Together we will...oh my what is that! Roy!'' Arnold pulled Roy over to him as he stared across the room. ''That that, thing has a white rose.'' ''Ah but she has a red one too.'' Roy was quick to point out. If there was one thing Arnold could not look past it was what one was wearing and how they looked at that moment. ''I guess, maybe, we'll see. the show must go on.'' ''You have to be joking.'' Takibi muttered to herself as she stared at the white rose before looking at Arnold on the stage. ''The only one he would ever be happy with is himself.'' ''What about us! With the red rose!'' A man yelled out as others started to stand up. ''You?'' Arnold tilted his head slight as if to mock the man. ''Well your just lucky to of been here.'' He clicked his fingers and in doing so the Black Pirates jumped down from the stage and started flipping over the tables and randomly lashing out at the ones who had been at a red rose. Within seconds the room was in chaos. People seated at Red roses where cut down without hesitation while women at white roses were dragged to the stage, any refusing to join Arnold then shot. ''Shame to waste such beauty.'' He said as if it did not really matter to him. ''He's not protected!'' A large man wearing Valuan armor yelled as he raised his sword in one hand and the black rose in another. He had already figured out that the pirates where not attacking anyone with a black rose. ''Right, let's do this!'' Takibi said to herself as she stood up. She raised her hand in front of her as a small flame appeared in her palm. Her eyes where set on the Valuan man as he rushed towards the stage. ''A little assistance and he should do the job.'' She got ready to cast Increm on the man. Yet before she could mutter the words a loud sound boomed over the chaos. It sounded almost like a small ship was starting up or something of that size. The Valuan jumped onto the stage but before his feet touched the stage a hail storm of bullets cut through the Curtin and ripped into his armor. Within seconds the man was face down in a pool of his own blood. ''Really now Roy, they gave this...'man' a black rose.'' Arnold raised an eyebrow as Roy grinned over at him. ~ Takibi had no words for what happened. Before she knew it two of the pirates had approached from both sides. ''Your a real cute one. Lance will like you.'' One pirate took a hold of her arm. ''How dare, get your hands of me!'' Takibi swung her hand and slapped the pirate across his face. He fell backwards more from shock than the hit. Seeing how he was not expecting someone in a Kimono to be putting up a fight. Takibi then turned to the other pirate who had been joined by a few others now. ''Really?'' The Shrine Maiden grinned at them as she pointed her finger at the space around their feet. ''Bana!'' As she muttered the words the Pyri spell's flames burst from the ground below them. ___ The show has started. If you have a red rose you can fight but you have been targeted for a quick death by Arnold's crew. If you have a white rose then Arnold wants you in his crew, you can refuse and fight back. If you have a Black rose the crew won't attack you but that doesn't mean you can't attack them, to which they will fight back. At this point you can approach Arnold on the stage but whatever is behind the final Curtin will fire a hail storm of shots at you. Arnold can not therefore be attacked yet. |

Kenshin was only just beginning to relax and enjoy the plate of raw vegetables that he had ordered when the stage lit up like a rainbow and the curtain arose. "Who is this baffoon?" He wondered aloud as Arnold appeared upon it. At first the impudent young warrior rolled his eyes at the flamboyant pirate's antics, believing that the show he had in mind would involve a the reading of poetry whilst strutting about like a preening peacock. But the moment weapons were drawn and blood was spilled Kenshin's hopes rose anew. "Ah, I think I understand!" Kenshin said after Arnold had explained the rules. "This is to be a contest of strength then is it? What a wonderful show indeed. Of course I will participate!" Unlike most of the rest of the restaurant's patrons Kenshin was thrilled at the prospect of mortal combat. "I will cross fists with any among you who have the courage to face me!" The called out to everyone in the room, pirate and guest alike, as he rose from his table and struck a fighting stance. "Who will be the first to accept my challenge?" Kenshin was a little dismayed when none of the pirates answered him. Instead they seemed intent on slaying the weakest among the restaurant's guests rather than challenge the ones who looked like they might put up a fight. "Cowards! How DARE you ignore me!" The hot-blooded upstart yelled. "I shall punish such insolence!" Kenshin reached across the table he'd been sitting at and withdrew the long, cloth-wrapped parcel that had been strapped across his back when he'd first entered. He hadn't expected to be using it so soon but hadn't felt comfortable leaving it strapped to the dhabu's saddle along with the rest of his gear. But at that very moment Kenshin counted his good fortune at having brought it indoors with him. With a deft flick of his wrist Kenshin untied the strings that bound the cloth. It unfurled from around its contents and fluttered to the floor, revealing the haft of a Yafutoman spear. Kenshin held the weapon up for a moment, admiring the way the stage's multi-colored lights reflected off of its razor-sharp head and letting his anticipation build for but a moment longer. "You shall drink deeply from the river of foreign blood I intend to spill this day." Kenshin promised his spear. He gave the weapon a deft twist over his head before brandishing it at the nearest pirate. "Kenshin, the Tiger Claw, challenges you!" ~ Kenshin felt his anger beginning to boil when the pirates nearest to him only glanced briefly in his direction and then returned to ignoring his presence again. With a snarl of rage he stepped forward to assert himself physically. One particular pirate had caught his attention; a greasy looking man wielding a cutlass and menacing an unarmed fellow dressed in the style of a desert nomad. Kenshin thrust the butt end of his spear forward to give the pirate a hard poke between the shoulder blades. "Huh? Piss off!" The pirate glanced back at him angrily. "You'll get your turn to dance with the captain, don't worry." "You've been out in the sun too long if I appear worried to you!" Kenshin sneered as he used his spear's shaft to swat the pirate on the side of the head, provoking him further. "Now turn and face me you cur!" The pirate gave the nomad a kick to the ribs that sent him scurrying away before turning to face Kenshin. "Alright then! You asked for it!" He roared, enraged. The pirate stepped forward and swung his cutlass downward in an attempt to split the young upstart's head like a ripe melon. Kenshin brought his spear up and easily blocked the attack. "I see no reason to ask anything of you when I can take all that you have by force!" He laughed in exultation as he swung his weapon over the pirate's head, sweeping the cutlass away in the process. Then Kenshin reversed his movement and pulled back on the spear's shaft, catching the pirate behind the neck with it and levering him to the floor. No sooner had the pirate struck the floor than he began calling for help. "Oy! I need some help! We got a live one over here!" Kenshin raised a foot and stomped down on the fallen pirate to keep him from escaping. "Scream long! Scream loudly! You are nothing more than a bug; but you are one that will bear sweet pollen!" He sneered down at his bested foe. "Yeah, yeah! I'm comin' Keep your shorts on!" A second pirate called out as he began moving in Kenshin's direction. This one was shorter but stockier than the first. He wielded a boarding axe in his sweaty grip and Kenshin could see that its blade was already slick with blood. Kenshin's lips parted in a feral grin at the sight. He beckoned the pirate closer and waited until he was within striking distance. When he had drawn close enough the hot-blooded young warrior twirled his spear around and slammed its head down through the chest of the fallen pirate, killing him instantly. As the man's final breath gargled around the blood in his mouth Kenshin was already moving to attack his would-be rescuer. Using the shaft of his spear to give himself a boost Kenshin hoisted himself off of the floor and delivered a stiff kick to the chest of the oncoming pirate. The second pirate stumbled back and tripped as his feet struck the leg of an overturned chair. He fell flat on his back and the wind was driven from his lungs. The pirate was only down for a couple of seconds before he began hoisting himself painfully to his feet, hacking and wheezing in an attempt to catch his breath. The hapless pirate never realized he was breathing his last though. The last thing he saw on Arcadia was Kenshin standing a short distance away, taking aim with his spear. His eyes went wide with fright as the weapon was loosed. It traced an unerring course between the two of them to lodge in the pirate's chest, stopping his heart and ending his life. Kenshin watched the light drain from the pirate's eyes before yanking the spear from his chest. "That was a good warm-up but hardly a challenge to one such as I." The grinned fiercely. Then, in a louder voice he called out to anyone within earshot. "Now then, who is next?!" |

Minister of Baked Goods

Alondra's curious observations were brought to a halt as a waiter returned with a large bowl, taking care to set it in front of her gently before departing without a word. Her eyes widened at the complex treat in front her; what seemed to be a large amount of a chilled white pudding, various toppings dotting it's surface and a fine layer of something reddish brown sprinkled over it. The lower Valuan had never seen or even heard of half of the things in it, though she recognized pieces of chocolate and some kind of cookie present. A wide and eager grin broke out on her face, snatching up a spoon and digging out a heaping scoop. Clamping her mouth over the utensil, she almost spat it out from surprise. Not because it tasted bad, but because it tasted far better than she could have thought! The treat was absolutely delicious. She'd never tasted whatever the pudding was made from, but it was extremely creamy and sweet. Whatever the reddish brown stuff sprinkled on it was added this kick of... She screwed up her face for a moment, trying to find the word for it. It wasn't spicy, but it was kind of hot? She scooped up another spoonful, making sure to snag some of the cookie and chocolate pieces as well this time. Her eyes lit up even brighter. This had to be the most perfect thing she'd ever had! Did upper Valuans get to eat things like this all the time? No wonder a lot of them got fat! The sweater-clad girl started to shovel spoonful after spoonful of the dessert into her mouth with such focus that she completely missed the curtain pulling back and the lights dimming. Even the boisterous announcement on the stage only barely registered as background noise. It was only as a loud bang followed by screams shattered the pleasant atmosphere like a pane of glass that she looked around in surprise and shock, spoon hanging from her mouth. Someone was dead, shot by one of the guys on stage? Was it a stunt? Part of the act? The scene that played out before her quickly disproved that possibility. Her eyes narrowed as things went on, the man explaining how the roses worked. She swore he seemed to pause and look right at her when he mentioned the white roses, and she noted she had both a white and a red one. What an... Absolutely arrogant ass! She grit her teeth, biting down on the spoon still in her mouth. As the black pirates spread throughout room, upturning tables and killing people or dragging them onto the stage, her glare only intensified as she clenched her hands into fists. A black pirate reached her table, pausing in confusion over the fact she had both a red and a white rose. “Eh... Little young and scrawny for a white rose, aintcha?” The gangly man mused out loud. With a large, toothy grin, he leaned over to pluck the white rose from its spot next to the red. The insult wasn't lost on her, as the black pirate soon learned as an oddly crackling fist caught him in the jaw. The punch wasn't all the strong, but the second it made contact the mans was hit with enough electricity to send a spasm of pain through his body. The man stumbled backwards, nearly falling down before his legs found strength again. He put a hand to his cheek, trying to rub away the numbness that had set into his face, and cursed at her with a hiss. “You libble bibch!” "Sound pretty angry for getting punched by someone so 'young and scrawny'!” Alondra taunted with an angry snap, standing on her chair and waving her spoon at him. A few of the other black pirates took notice and laughed, jeering at their companion. The gangly man shot glares around the room, pulling a gun from his belt and leveling it at the girl. She felt her chest tighten and her breath hitch in her throat. She forced herself to not react, instead cockily raising an eyebrow. An action that was likely missed by everyone else, given her hair was doing it's best to swallow her head as always. Luckily this guy was an idiot who didn't know how to shrug off a little scratch to his pride. She had plenty of experience with people like that. Putting a foot on the back of her chair, she dismissively gestured her spoon at him. “Tsk, no wonder your boss up there wants to recruit people! Needing to use a gun on a little girl like me?” The man angrily clenched his teeth as he struggled with his very clear desire to shoot her. There was a tense moment when he seemed like he might, only to angrily slam his gun back into his belt. With a snarl, he lurched forward in an attempt to overpower her with his superior size and strength, gangly arms outstretched for her neck. Alondra shifted all of her modest weight down on her raised foot, sending the chair toppling onto it's back and sweeping her out of harms way. The legs of the chair came up, slapping into the pirates own and sending him face-first into the floor with a painful sounding crack. It would have been an impressive moment of quick thinking and agility, if it weren't for the fact that she found herself stumbling off the back of the chair when it slammed into the ground and stumbling under a nearby table with a painful thud. She gave a grunt as she rubbed her head, having manage to smack it into the table somehow. The sound of amused jeers and laughs from the other black pirates that had seen her little trick were plenty audible, as well as the confused and angry spluttering of the man she'd humiliated. From his angry rambling shouts about “when I get my hands on you” he apparently hadn't seen where she'd ended up and his friends didn't seem to be in a hurry to help him. That set her mind to work and gave her an idea. There was no way she could actually fight off these black pirates. They were thugs though, and one thing thugs liked was to laugh at the misfortune of others. A determined look came into her eye as a plan formed in her mind. Other people must be resisting too. People with more ability to fight back than she did. So all she had to do was make a show of it and hope to keep as many of them distracted as she could, right? As long as she was “entertaining” enough, they wouldn't just shoot her outright either. Well, she hoped they wouldn't at least. Steeling herself, she took a deep breath and waited for her moment to dart out from under the table to resume the “show”. |

The Ice Fang

With the flames burning around d her Takibi did not have to worry for a moment any any more of the pirates attacking her. ''This would of been perfect for them.'' She told herself, wishing her group was here to do some real training. The flames started to die down as two pirates waited for their chance to jump her and drag her to their captain. ''She'll make a good crew member!'' The short chubby on said as he swung his axe over his shoulder. ''Easy one the eyes haha.'' ''That is no way to talk about a lady!'' One of the 'guests' approached the two from behind, a taller man wearing old Valuan armor yet with the emblem's all missing. He took out his sword and took a swing at the shorter pirate but only to have his sword blocked by the pirate's own axe. ''Best put it down before you get hurt.'' The other pirate who was around the same height as the man mocked as he took out his own sword. It was clear the man was in over his head against these two. ''Such the gentle man.'' Takibi caught the attention of all three man as she stood there with a smile on her face, eyes closed and head tilted to one side while placing her hands together. ''Here, let me help you out.'' Her eyes opened as her smile disappeared. She pointed her finger out at her savior as a flame appeared at the tip of her finger. ''Apa!'' She called out and in a flash the man shone a bright red for a second. ''What in Arcadia was that?'' The short pirate muttered at Takibi. ''I think out here you call it an Increm spell?'' Takibi once again smiled at the two pirates who both turned to look at one another before looking back at the Valuan man just in time to see his fist make contact with their faces, sending them flying. ''Thank you miss, I..'' The savior started to talk but was quickly cut off. ''Best be saving the others.'' Takibi just smiled and waved at the man. ~ ''Roy, Roy darling my legs.'' Arnold called out as he fixed his hair. Roy came running with a chair which he managed to place just in time as Arnold sat himself down on it, looking out across the battle field which was once the restaurant. ''Take a note.'' He spoke as he put his mirror away and watched a few of the women attacking the pirates. ''In the future I should personally hand out white roses, after all most of these people are making lower Valuan's look good.'' He waved the back of his hand at the battle. ''How about that one sir?'' Roy pointed out Takibi as she was casting her magic to help the fighters. ''I say, a fine flower amongst this dirt.'' Arnold stood up to take a look. ''Bring her to my side, for I Arnold Lance will.....'' He stopped as his eyes moved away from the Yafutoma girl and locked onto the Yafutoma man who was taking care of the Black Pirates. ''Now if there is one thing I like more than I fine flower it is a grand dance. A for that I will be needing a fine partner.'' ''Should I clear the stage sir?'' Roy asked as he waved his hand towards the area that fighting was going on and not the stage Arnold was standing on. ''That would be best, It is time to cut down the weeds and see what beauty stands out.'' Arnold raised his hand and in doing so the same loud sound from before started up yet again but this time louder as if there was more of what ever it was last time. Without warning gun fire burst from the back curtains around where Arnold and Roy stood, spreading out across the main room taking out everyone standing and in the way. ~ ''That's what you get for touching me!'' Takibi yelled as she stood over a fallen pirate, a broken table leg in her hand as the man rolled around the floor holding his groin. ''I should burn you till your nothing but ash!'' She raised her finger as a flame appeared at it's tip but her ears picked up on the sound of what seemed to be engines of sorts starting up again. She quickly recalled that the last time that sound started gun fired shot down the man who attacked Arnold and so she fell to her knees. No sooner as she was on the floor a hail storm of shots burst out over head, taking down man of the people and pirates who stood in their way. ~ ''sir, you must stop killing the men you hire.'' Roy sighed. ''Why do you think I hire them and not use my own men.'' Arnold took out his mirror to check his hair before putting it away. Looking out he saw that many of the people who had been placed at a table with a Black Rose where still standing. ''Oh good, they survived.'' Lance then walked up to the edge of the stage and took a bow. ''I would like to thank you all for making this far, yet to dance with me one must prove his skill.'' He clicked his fingers which caused the noise from before to start up again. The curtains where now covered in holes and the very noise was all it took to cause them to fall down. Standing at the back of the stage where what looked to be giant men in armor, silhouetted from the light. ''And so the second act starts.'' Lance took a bow and walked backwards away from the edge of the stage as the things behind him started to move forwards. Each step they took cracked the stage with a thud as they came into the light. ''I'm ever so please to introduce you all to the Rose Guard, my rose Guard. The new way for Black Pirates such as myself.'' ''What are these monsters!'' A man in the center of the room yelled out. He looked like he was from Nasr, a large man of big built holding a double sided axe. ''Oh dear, I can't have shouting now.'' Arnold raised his hand to his head as if he had a headache. As he spoke one of the Rose Guard's crouched down, steam bursting from the engine as suddenly it leaped from the stage, landing in front of the large man. Then with one swing of it's arm it battered him into the air before crashing into the brick wall, denting it and the sound of his bones cracking filled the air. ~ ''Such power...'' Takibi said as she watched this un fold before her. Yet while many looked on at the fallen man she was quick to turn back to the 'machine' that attacked him. It had lowered itself into a crouching position while more steam came from the back exhausts. ''Again? No, it's not that.'' She said watching it's movements.' She figured as much that this machine as strong it they seem needed time to charge after large movements such as the leap this one did from the stage. She thought for a moment about running up to one of the pipes on the back of it but before should could the other 'machines' started to open fire again across the room. Takibi backflipped over a standing table, landing behind it she pulled it down to cover herself, knowing the table would not last long she looked around for safe cover. |

Kenshin felt slighted once again when no one else stepped forward to accept his challenge. "Very well!" The haughty young warrior snorted in disgust. "Since none here has the courage to stand and face me I shall choose my next opponent myself!" Casting about for a moment Kenshin spotted a likely candidate a short distance away. The pirate was well-armed and appeared to be in the mood to fight. With a cocky grin he slung his spear over his shoulder and approached him. But as he drew closer Kenshin could see that the pirate was already engaging an opponent. However, as he came closer still, it was revealed to Kenshin that that opponent was a small girl cowering under a table. His eyes narrowed at the sight and his lips turned downward in a look of utter disgust. With a deft twist of his wrist Kenshin flipped his spear around and planted it point-first into the floor. He approached the pirate unarmed and from behind. The man had yet to notice his presence. He was too preoccupied with menacing the girl at his feet. His sword was poised to stab downward through the table and impale her at any second. But the sword never fell. Kenshin stepped up behind the pirate and arrested his strike with a single hand, holding the killing blow at bay. "My, what a courageous warrior you are!" He mocked the man. "And what vicious beast are you wielding your blade against?" He continued, glancing down at Alondra. It was then that he spotted the pirate's pistol, still thrust through his belt. "Oh, and a gun too! This child must surely be a tyrant for you to come against her so well armed." A trace of menace crept into Kenshin's voice. The pirate flinched as he reached down with his free hand to pluck the pistol from his belt. The sound of Kenshin cocking back its hammer frightened the pirate even further and a dark patch of moisture began to spread across the crotch of his pants. "Don't....please don't...kill me." The pirate blubbered. But his plea fell of deaf ears. Kenshin raised the pistol and pulled the trigger. The pirate screwed his eyes shut but opened them again a second later when he realized he was not dead. The sound of stone shattering and the jarring thud against his hand told the tale. Kenshin's target had been the blade of his sword. The bullet had shattered it, leaving behind only a short nub. The rest of the blade lie in several shards upon the ground. With both the pistol discharged and his sword destroyed the pirate was now effectively disarmed. He would be easy prey for Kenshin but, again, that had not been his intention. Instead he stomped down on the pirate's knee, driving him to the floor in front of Alondra. "There! Perhaps such a challenge is better suited to a weakling like you." Kenshin sneered down at Alondra as he cast the empty pistol down in front of her and retrieved his spear. "One must stand by their own strength or fall to their own weakness! Now stand and fight!" He added before stalking away, leaving Alondra to face the pirate alone Kenshin had probably come across as a total jerk at that moment but he wasn't even aware of it. A display of such "tough love" was just in his nature. It was how he'd been raised after all; to nurture his own strength through hard work and discipline and to not rely on anyone else to fight his battles for him. It was how Kenshin lived and how he expected others to as well. But, then again, maybe he really was a total jerk. ~ Kenshin froze in place for a moment. He could feel someone staring at him. It was like a cold chill running up the length of his spine. He cast about for a moment, hoping that one amongst the pirate rabble had finally acknowledged him as a worthy opponent and was about to challenge him. Instead Kenshin found himself staring into the eyes of the flamboyant pirate who stood upon the stage. He felt a flush of pride well up on his heart when he realized that his prowess had been noticed by the ringleader of these miscreants. Kenshin flashed the man a fierce grin and then pointed the tip of his spear right at him as if to say; "I see you too!" before vanishing into the crowd once more. ~ "I don't care what kind of rose you got!" One particularly furious pirate yelled as he made his way across the crowded room towards Kenshin. "I seen what you did to my pal and I ain't lettin' you get away with it, you hear?" Kenshin smiled at the prospect of fighting someone who was serious about taking him on. "Loud and clear! Now come at me with all of your might!" He called back, eager to begin their duel. The pirate, a muscular fellow with wild black hair and a patch over his left eye, did not aim to disappoint him. He came forward, wielding a heavy saber in one hand and a small buckler attached to the wrist of the other. The pirate wasted no time in making the first move. He swung his blade in a powerful overhead arch aimed at Kenshin's head. Kenshin stepped to the side and avoided the swing. He countered by swinging the butt end of his spear around to catch his opponent while he was still recovering from his own attack. But in a show of expert timing the pirate deflected the blow by raising his shield into its path. "You show promise for having lasted beyond my first move." Kenshin awarded the pirate. "What name have the fates bestowed upon you?" The pirate stepped back to recover and prepare for the next attack. "Haggard." He replied simply. "And you have the honor of being challenged this day by Kenshin, the Tig~" Kenshin introduced himself but found his title being cut short by the pirate's renewed offensive. Haggard suddenly rushed forward, using his shield like a battering ram to slam into Kenshin's chest. The young martial artist stumbled back and nearly lost his footing as the angry pirate came to a halt and gave him a rough shove backwards. Before Kenshin could recover Haggard's blade was already descending towards his unguarded flesh. Kenshin struggled to bring the haft of his spear up to block the fatal attack but was already bracing himself for the injury he was about to receive. Would this be the one to end his quest for supremacy before it had truly begun? Was he about to die here amid the sands of this foreign country? Before the answer could present itself a stroke of good fortune rendered the question moot. At that very moment the room was filled with a mechanical roar punctuated by the sound of gunfire. Haggard's body was suddenly swept aside by a hail of gunfire emanating from the stage. It fell, lifeless and bleeding from a dozen bullet holes at Kenshin's feet. "S,s,serves you right. You deserve no less for your dishonorable act!" Kenshin stuttered in shock at his fallen opponent. "Were it not for that I would have felled you easily!" Kenshin allowed himself only a moment to recover from his brush with death before forcing himself to stand. His eyes were pulled up to the stage and became fixated on the mechanical behemoths that had appeared there. "What are..." The brash young fighter stuttered. For once he found himself unable to speak. He could only look on in growing apprehension as one of the machines leapt from the stage and went on the attack. "And...how do I fight something like that?" He wondered aloud, finally finding the voice to utter his doubts. |

For a moment the sound of gun fire stopped to which Takibi took a moment to look out from behind her table. All around the room where lifeless bodies laying across the ground and on top of over turned chairs and tables. She could see that a few other people had taken shelter under the tables while a few of the stronger minded ones where already standing back up to face this new threat. Of one of them she saw turned out to be someone else from her homeland. However any sudden rush over to him could set off the assault once more. The Maiden turned her head to look around the over turned table to get a glimpse of this enemy. ''What are they? Armor, or something else?'' She muttered to herself as she watched the one that jumped from the stage moments before slowly stand back up. ~ ''It would appear that there are only a hand full of survivors Captain.'' Roy reported as he looked out across the room to survey the damage as the remaining members of the Rose Guard slowly walked down from the stage to stand facing the ones who avoided the attack. ''Yes yes, very effective but I hope it was worth the noise!'' Arnold yelled as he still had his hands against his ears. It was true that these things caused a lot of noise from their engines. He then uncovered his ears as he looked for himself, seeing only strong looking men standing along with a few others under the tables. ''Have them dispose of the remaining 'guests' while I recruit him, him and.......I think him.'' Arnold casually pointed at three men, one a Larger man from Nasr while another who looked to be from Valua and the third man being Kenshin. ''They will make excellent members of my crew.'' Lance flicked his hair as he turned his back on the room. ''What about him sir?'' Roy pointed to a rather large man holding two double headed axes. ''He looks pretty strong.'' ''Well yes, but my dear Roy, I can smell him from here.'' Arnold glanced over at the man for a moment. ''That simply won't do now will it.'' Arnold then walked off into the back of the stage out of sight. Roy then raised his hand to signal the Rose Guard to once again start their attack while he himself went off behind the stage after Arnold. ~ ''Are they starting again!?'' Takibi asked herself as she stood up. She glance over at the Yafutoma man once more before spotting a younger girl under one of the tables along with a few others who had taken 'shelter' there. Before Takibi could make a move to either side of the room the man on the stage seemed to signal for the attack to start up again. ''No way am I going to let them get close to me!'' The maiden raised both her hands then pointed them down at the ground as one of the Rose Guard's rushed at her. It lashed out with it's blade arm but before it could make contact the maiden spoke. ''Bany!'' In an instance the ground under the Guard's feet exploded in flames which sent the mechanical suit of armor into the air, smashing against the ceiling before crashing down into the floor not far from the table where a group of people where hiding along with the young girl. ''That takes care of one!'' Takibi grinned as she rushed for cover once again. Her attack caught the attention of the other Rose Guards. They seemed to be focused on attacking anyone but the three who Arnold pointed out before hand and only seemed to want to capture Takibi with little to no harm. ~ ''Everyone ok?'' A scared man asked the others under the table as the suit of armor crashed next to them all. He watched as the armor moved ever so slightly followed by the sound of moaning. Curious, he came out from under the table and tugged on the 'face' of the armor. After a few tugs it flung open to reveal a severely injured pirate inside. ''Hey! We could use this!'' He said as he pulled on the pirate, two other came out from the table to help him remove the man from the armor. ''If I can just get inside, I used to be in the Armada so it shouldn't be too hard to fig......'' Before he could finish his sentence the sound of a single shot sliced the air. A long bullet smashed into the engine on the back of the fallen Rose Guard and in that instance the suit of armor along with the men and everything around them burst into a fiery explosion that took out the whole corner of the room. ''I would rather see my property burn than in the hands of filth!'' A voice came from the stage. Standing there was a different looking Rose Guard, this one a peal white with gold and pink trim. It's left arm was stretched out pointing in the direction of where the corner of the room used to be while a single line of smoke rose from the sniper like looking weapon which was it's hand. The face plate lifted up to reveal Arnold inside the armor. ''Roy dear, I want you to retrieve the flower from amongst this dirt.'' From behind Arnold another Rose Guard walked onto the stage, this one looking just like the others but lacking weapons. In their place where simple hands but on the back of this Rose Guard where two over sided cutlasses, too big for a person but the right size for the armor. Roy leaped from the stage and landed facing Takibi. ''The Captain would very much like to invite you to dine with him upon his ship.'' ''Now then, who's first?'' Arnold's face plate lowered over him as the sword hand of his armor extended into a lance. He pointed it out across the stage at the three strongest looking fighters. |

Kenshin was still staring in wide-eyed panic at the Rose Guards when a nearby explosion sent him flying into the air. The waves of heat and force launched him across and overturned table and sent him sprawling to the floor in a daze. After a few short moments that seemed an eternity the young warrior pulled himself to his feet and stood shakily in the midst of the carnage. His eyes shifted blearily over to where the suit of mechanical armor had exploded, lingering on the charred bodies of those who had been caught in the blast. Kenshin raised one hand to his face and bowed his head in a moment of silent prayer. "Your sacrifice will not be in vain." He said solemnly. But when he raised his head again his lips were split in a fierce grin. "For your deaths have served a noble purpose." He laughed. "They have given me the key to victory!" ~ No sooner had Kenshin made his wild boast than one of the mechanical suits leapt from the stage to land directly in front of him. The haughty young warrior was intimidated by its size and power for a moment but he was able to stand his ground and face the menacing machine thanks to what he had learned. "It's just a man." Kenshin whispered to himself. "A man in a really, really big suit of armor." The doomed fighters from earlier had proven this to him when they removed the faceplate from the first machine, revealing the pilot inside. "And if it's only a man then I can surely defeat him." Kenshin reassured himself. And when the man inside of the armor began speaking to him through its speaker Kenshin was hardly surprised. "Ah, afternoon ol' bean! Our captain has deigned to add you to our illustrious presence!" The Rose Guard's pilot said in a voice marked with a rich Valuan accent. As further proof of his lineage Kenshin could also see a nobleman's coat-of-arms, a crimson shield with a rampant crylhound emblazoned upon it, painted across the armor's chest plate. "Now do be a sport and toddle up to the stage." The nobleman inside of the armor continued. "I should hate to get snooty with you sir." "Hah, I'll be taking my place on stage in due time!" Kenshin shot back. "But it won't be as a part of your crew. It will be to challenge your captain to honorable combat!" The sound of an indignant snort carried through the speaker. "I thought as much. Why our captain would select a lowly ragamuffin as yourself is beyond me. Especially when you're covered with all of those ghastly tattoos." The nobleman grumbled, the arms of his suit lifting upward in a mechanical shrug. "Ah, but it is not my place to question why. Mine is but to do and....oh, I say. Where did you go? Get back here at once I say!" While the nobleman had been airing his grievances Kenshin was already taking action. He'd managed to slip behind the Rose Guard and was now standing just behind its noisy engine block. Clutched in his hands was a huge axe. He'd spotted it lying on the floor next to the bullet-riddled body of a large man. Judging it to be better suited to what he had in mind Kenshin had take it up in the place of his spear. "If a human is inside of it then this machine must also move like a human." Kenshin sneered, his voice drowned out by the roar of the armor's engine. He hefted the axe and then swung it in midair, spinning around to increase his momentum, before driving its heavy blade into the knee of the Rose Guard. "Oh, what?" The Rose Guard's pilot gasped when he felt the machine's leg give out beneath him. The armor fell to one knee for a few seconds but the nobleman was quick to get it back on its feet. "You little miscreant! When I get ahold of....WAAAH!" While the Rose Guard was down Kenshin had slid around to its side and thrust the length of his spear between the machine's legs. And when it stood up the flexible wooden haft had served to trip it up. The heavy machine fell face-first to the floor with a loud thud. "Oh...ow. How...how dare you besmirch...my lovely machine...." The pained voice of the nobleman groaned over the speaker as he struggled to hoist the Rose Guard up off of the ground. "Just you wait! When I regain my poise I shall...." It was at that point that the nobleman raised the Rose Guard into a crawling position. And when he gazed out of its eye slits he could see Kenshin crouched down directly in front of him. His eyes widened in concern as arrogant young fighter wasted no in prying the faceplate loose just as he'd seen the others doing earlier. "Why hello there!" Kenshin snickered as he came face-to-face with the armor's pilot. "Afternoon...." The pilot peered helplessly back at Kenshin. If he moved either of his arms now to ward off the intruder he knew he'd wind up right back on the floor again. "I'm afraid I'm going to have to get snooty with you now." Kenshin sneered down at him. "Bully show sir!" The nobleman was trying to keep a stiff upper lip but it was obvious to Kenshin that he was frightened. "Well then, have at me sir. The day is yours!" He said, screwing his eyes shut to block out the view of whatever punishment he was about to receive. Kenshin wasted no time in delivering it. He balled up his fist and struck the nobleman squarely between the eyes. His head lulled downward as he fell unconscious. In response the whole Rose Guard suit also fell still. Its engine sputtered to a stop and its limbs went limp. As the Rose Guard settled to the floor with a heavy thump Kenshin retrieved his spear and went in search of a new opponent. |
