So I thought, "In the unlikely event that Skies of Arcadia gets a movie re-make, who should play the parts?" And that's basically what this thread's about. I've got just a few ideas for a few of the characters, and I'd like to see what you guys think. Use actors from TV or film if you want, and since this is purely hypothetical and just for fun, you may use actors from any time period as well. I'll divide the characters by region, and let me know if there's any I forgot: Valuans Galcian - Charles Dance Ramirez - Tom Felton Belleza - Lena Headey Vigoro- Dolph Lundgren Gregorio- Rade Serbedzija, Sean Connery Aphonso - DeLoco - Peter Dinklage Empress Theodora - Kathy Bates Enrique - Harry Lloyd Cameo appearances as guard/lieutenants - Blue Pirates Vyse - Andrew Garfield Aika - Allison Pill Fina - Emilia Clarke Dyne - Vyse's Mother (is she ever named?) - Drachma - Mark Addy Gilder - Clara - Pinta - Domingo - Marco - Black Pirates Baltor - Gordo - Rupee - Barta - Lapen - Tara - Lira - Pera - Vize - Faina - Anita - Emma Stone Daikokuya - Lord Zivlyn Bane - Ixa'Takans Yafutomans Nasrians Others Doc - Maria - Piastol - There's more characters, and I'll add them later. Now that I think of it, there's a lot of characters, and no real comprehensive list I can find. I'll eventually fill in the blanks, but I'm too busy at the moment. :\ Edited by Saint Dane, Nov 26 2012, 08:36 AM.

In his prime, yes, Dolph Lundren could potentially be a Vigoro. Good find. I've never heard of the other guy, but the most notable program he was in is 24, which I never watched. I thought of Arnold Schwarzeneggar as a Vigoro, but that's too cheesy and he'd have to be coached out of that very un-Valuan accent. (I think of Valuans as having a British accent, though they tend to have Hispanic names and Valua seems to be more of a symbol of the Spanish Empire than the British - but perhaps Valua is really just a symbol of the colonial European powers in general, and not any one particular sea-conquering nation.) Edit: Also, if you think there might be a better fit for another character, feel free to list that as well, I'll simply add that so that we can see all the possibilities. I'd also prefer well-known actors, if it's some obscure actor I'd like it if you included a sample from something they're in. As it is, I'm not sure if you noticed, but I used a few Game of Thrones actors and some of you might not be too familiar with the show. Edited by Saint Dane, Nov 24 2012, 04:03 AM.

I'm not really up to snuff in movie and television personalities so I don't even recognize 95% of the people on that list. But here are a few that I feel strongly about: Galcian - Johnathan Frakes. He not only bears a striking resemblance to the Lord Admiral but he's made a career of playing the commander of the starship Enterprise. Jao & Mao - A couple of HK cinema stars who know kung-fu. No one in particular so long as they look similar. Vigoro - Chris Hemsworth. He played Thor in the Avengers movie so you know he can handle the action scenes. Plus he can pull off the arrogant attitude and he's buff. What more do you need? Belleza - Kate Beckinsale. She's awesome in anything. Gregorio - Sean Connery. No one else could fill this role in my humble opinion. The Executioner - The Great Khali. Not much on words but when it comes to being huge and intimidating this guy has it covered. That's all I have for now. If I come up with more I'll post them too. |

How I did not think to have Sean Connery as Gregorio, I have no clue. Sean Bean could also be a fit, but for anyone who is unfamiliar with Skies, yet is familiar with the Sean Bean Rule, casting Bean as Gregorio would be an inherent spoiler. I chose Charles Dance as Galcian, because Charles Dance plays a character much like Galcian in the show Game of Thrones. Here's a short scene with him (And Peter Dinklage is in it too, you'll know right away who it is:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3ZhQeC0DNU He also resembles Galcian, and his voice is just about right. Dance is pretty good at playing a villain. Johnathan Frakes wouldn't be a bad one, either, I'm just too used to seeing him as Riker. The Great Khali could play two parts; the Executioner (whos face we never see) as well as the cannoneer from Nasrad (can't remember his name, but he's the guy on the top of the wall with the giant cannon). Another one for that guy with the cannon, though, is Jason Momoa. In Stargate Atlantis and Game of Thrones he played a buff warrior-type. |

I think Charles Dance would be better in the role of Galcian then Jonathan Frakes, personally. However Frakes would still be worth considering for the castlist, in my mind's eye if he trimmed the beard down to a moustache he would make quite an excellent Dyne; authoratative, serious and commanding; but with a roguish edge. |

How could I have forgotten about this guy: Jim Carrey as Deloco. How is he NOT the perfect guy to portray Deloco? And my personal favorite; Brian Blessed as Baltor. Or, if LoA made a movie he'd be a shoe-in for Bear Of Glacia. Bear was based on Brian's portrayal of Vultan in the old Flash Gordon movie after all. And he has an epic beard that'd suit either character. |

For Jim Carrey, they'd have to use some kind of camera trick, but hey, it could work. Possibly even motion-capture. Brain Blessed bears a strong resemblance to Mark Addy, too. I also Think Harry Lloyd might make a better Alfonso, with Tom Felton (played Draco in Harry Potter) as a better fit for Ramirez. |
