As Arnold picked himself up Blind was on a rampage towards him and kokyrie, yet as he got to his feet something past by him as at great speed. He saw what looked to be an arrow fly by right away knowing it was Kokyrie's. By now his was back up and ready to fight, watching the arrow was almost like in slow motion as Blind ran towards him. Just then the Valuan savage slowed to a stop, a look on his face to say he heard the arrow coming yet he could not react in time. His sense of smell and hearing may of improved over the years in the darkness by his reflexes where still that of any other person. The arrow hit Blind right in his chest, the arrow dug into the armor. As blind stood there for a moment to figure out what had just hit him Arnold took a look behind him to locate Kokyrie but was not pleased to see that she had gone. Two things came to mind, she was already dead or she had run off but now was not time to wonder as he had to keep himself from becoming the main course. As he turned his attention back to Blind he saw that the Valuan was holding onto the arrow and with a quick pull he snapped the arrow in half with only a small part of it still sticking out of his armor. ''Is it too shallow?'' Arnold wondered, not knowing if the arrow had hit skin or not and he wasn't ready to just walk up to Blind and ask. ''Your mine now.'' Arnold smiled AS Blind seemed occupied with the arrow head. He reached down to his side to take out his sword but his hand grabbed nothing but air. Quickly looking down to his side he remembered his sword was over by the drill. He knew stopping Blind from getting back into that machine was going to pay off in the long run but right now he was un armed. As Blind raised his head to face Arnold again the Black Pirate charged at the Valuan hoping to take him by surprise. Just as he thought Blind twitched his head as if he just caught the sound of Arnold running but it was too late for him. Lance jumped into the air and landed his foot against the broken arrow head, pushing it even more into his armor. Blind did not react, just like the others it seemed pain was something of the past for him, however he could not stop his body from going over from the kick as he landed on his back. Arnold knew he had to have his sword but with Blind down he had a perfect opportunity to stamp repeatedly on his head. He raised his foot but before he could land it he found himself being pulled to the ground, not by Blind by by two savage Ixa'taka slaves. something about it felt like they were protecting blind, but for what reason it was Arnold could not of guessed. In the moment he fell to the ground he wondered just why this single Valuan was being protected, almost worshiped by the slaves while the other Valuans wanted him dead. As his back touched the floor Arnold rolled onto his front, knowing that the savages would most likely jump on him in their numbers. He was right as one tried to get on top of him but he was having none of it. Pushing his arms against the floor he managed to get his legs out and he pushed himself up causing the savage to fall over. ''You'll do fine!'' He yelled as he delivered his boot to the fallen savage's head, easily crushing it under the weight of his armor. Arnold then turned his attention to the other attacker, this time he noticed that there was not as much attention on him as before thank to the 'war' going on between the two sides. This was fortunate for him as the Ixa'taka savages where not armored and so a quick blow to the stomach with his armored fist caused the slave to spit up blood before falling over. The two downed savages attracted some Valuan's to start feeding on them which he allowed as it took their attention away from him. Arnold looked back at the downed Blind but he had taken too long and the Valuan was not where he once was. He quickly looked around but could not spot him, then he remembered Kokyrie and had a quick look for her too. The black Pirate could not locate her but he soon spotted his old friend Blind who had managed to make it past the war and was now making his way back up the drill machine. ''She knocked the fight out of you hey?'' Arnold grinned as he noticed Blind was acting a little different from before. At first he jumped down and charged at them but after that arrow and Arnold's own attack on him Blind seemed to be retreating back to his drill. Arnold knew that the Valuan would not have an easy time getting the hatch back open but given time he might. Knowing he had to move fast he spotted his sword on the ground but between it and him where a large number of slaves and Valuans in and all out war. Blood was flying in the air as limbs where tossed around. ''Ok Arnold, you can do this!'' Lance stood up right as he put his arms up to his chest. He knew for the moment he was not the focus but he could end up being it if he got in the way. ''It's the Ballroom dance final, your in the lead and everyone is a is a mer peasant.'' Arnold broke out into a sort of dance, moving gracefully into the battle. A slave and guard locked in a fight moved out in front of him in which he gracefully moved to the side with a spin completely avoiding them. A leap with his arm lined with his legs allowed him to pass over a guard as he fell in front of him. While landing from this a savage slave moved into his line and so Arnold took her hands, spinning her around with him. As they twirled together she clearly had no idea what was going on. ''You dance divinely my dear.'' Arnold said as he moved her closer to him, her blood stained teeth snapping away as Arnold kept her head at a safe distance. ''Oh how I hate hard break ups.'' Arnold stopped but the slave carried on spinning and as he lifted his arms she was sent across the air, landing between another guard and slave who broke off their fight to feed on her. ''Break up was right.'' Arnold said grimly as he dropped her hand which had come off in his. No was no time to complain about the blood that had got on his pink cloth as he reached for his sword only inches in front of him. He pulled it from the ground and turned to face Blind and the drill. Blind was still standing on top of the hatch trying to get it to open. ''No you don't!'' Arnold swung his way up the machine's large back wheels and landed next to the savage Valuan. ''Your evil end here!'' Arnold grinned as the tip of his sword was almost touching Blind's neck. ''No light...'' Blind spoke without moving, he knew there was a dangerous weapon only inches from his neck. ''Valuans suffer.......no light.'' Arnold raised an eyebrow as he had no clue to what this savage was going on about. However in that moment of confusion Blind dropped to his knees and lashed out at Arnold's legs, knocking him once more off balance. ''Not again!'' Arnold yelled, making sure that this time he fell from the drill with his sword. Just as quick as he found the floor he was back up again, sword at the ready he already had company. Several Slaves had gathered around him, the same that paid him no attention until now. He connected it with the fact that he just attacked Blind who was clearly the leader of the Ixa'taka savages, even if he was clearly a Valuan. As Arnold kept them at a safe distance with his sword he looked about once more to hopeful locate Kokyrie, still un sure just what had happened to the Ixa'taka woman. |

"There you are." Kokyrie smiled, catching sight of Blind and Arnold. The two were struggling against one another until two of the slaves joined the fray. They distracted the Valuan pirate long enough for their leader to escape. "Damn it." Kokyrie swore under her breath. Keeping track of the two armored Valuans in the chaotic sea of armored Valuans wasn't an easy task, even from her vantage point. "Well, at least Lance is easy to pick out." She decided, taking aim at Blind instead. His bright pink sash would make it easier to find him again. Right now Blind was making straight for his machine again and she wasn't about to let him reach it. "Oh no you don't!" She cried, loosing another arrow towards the blind Valuan. But just before it reached him a pair of savages wandered into its path. One of them, a slave, fell dead at the feet of the other, a soldier. With a triumphant howl the blind soldier fell upon his victim and began feeding. Kokyrie grimaced at the sight. It also reminded her of Arnold's predicament. Scanning the area she'd last seen him she realized that he was in pursuit of Blind. She couldn't help but giggle at the way he was mixing some dance steps into his footwork. "He's a slick one." She sighed. Behind Arnold trailed a trio of slaves who had either mistaken him for one of their hated rivals or who had been coming to aid their leader. Either way she would make sure they didn't reach him. Reloading her crossbow Kokyrie took aim at the first slave and fired. He fell dead with an arrow lodged in his eye socket. The other two stumbled over his corpse and fell flat on their faces. Before they could rise Kokyrie had pinned one of them to the ground with a shot through the shoulder. The third was sandwiched between the two and floundered helplessly, unable to free himself. "Hmm. Not many left." Kokyrie muttered when her hand rummaged about in her quiver for another arrow. She was running out of ammunition now and would have to choose the rest of her shots carefully. "I guess I could always take some of them back." She realized, gazing down at the two slaves she'd just shot. By now a few of the soldiers had found them and were tearing into the survivor. "Or not." Kokyrie gagged at the sight. Rising to her feet Kokyrie made her way down the catwalk to keep pace with Blind and Arnold. ~ Kokyrie was just settling into another spot from which to snipe when a pair of blind Valuans appeared at the far end of the catwalk. "Smell food!" One of them howled. "No one near." The other smiled with his cracked teeth. "All for us!" And then the soldiers were running straight towards her, their booted feet banging out a loud staccato against the metal catwalk. Kokyrie was on her feet in a flash and dashing away from them. She didn't want to get lost in the tunnels again but it didn't seem like she had much choice at the moment. Or did she? Out of the corner of her eye Kokyrie spotted the end of a rope dangling just beyond the catwalk. It was the same one that connected to the elevator Arnold had lowered on top of the soldiers earlier. With nimble steps Kokyrie mounted the catwalk's railing in two quick strides and then flung herself off of it, catching the rope as she fell. For a heart-racing second she was free-falling but then the rope went taut, jerking her arms painfully, and arrested her descent. Kokyrie's momentum carried her over the heads of the warring savages. And in the near distance was Blind and his drill. "Head's up Bucket Head!" She cried out, catching Blind's attention. He turned his head in her direction just as her feet crashed into it. Blind was knocked off the top of the drill and sent crashing to the ground in a heap of armor. Kokyrie landed nimbly behind the machine and readied her crossbow. Killing the ringleader of all these savages was certainly worth the price of an arrow. She nearly stumbled over Arnold in her haste to do so. "No time for a nap. We've got company." She smiled down at him. There was a horde of slaves closing in around them. Kokyrie gauged the distance between them and decided she'd have more than enough time to get off a quick shot at Blind before they needed to retreat. "Game over." Kokyrie said in a low voice as she stepped around the edge of the drill. Blind was there, just struggling to his feet. It was hard to tell with his pale skin and sightless eyes but her poison was probably taking effect on him. "I could be blind too and still hit you at this range." "Save them. Must save..." Blind gasped as he propped himself up against the drill. Kokyrie glanced curiously at him. "Save who? What are you on about now?" That moment of hesitation cost Kokyrie the victory. Blind's only answer was another loud scream to summon his followers. The approaching slaves responded by breaking into a flat-out run straight towards them. "Oh hell! Lance, get a move on!" She cried. Kokyrie ran back to his side and clambered atop the drill, holding out her hand to help him up too. Below the slaves crashed into the side of the drill with such force that some of them knocked themselves unconscious. Those coming in behind them quickly trampled them underfoot. They began clawing at the sides of the drill in search of handholds with which to pull themselves up. "This doesn't look good." Kokyrie grumbled as she glanced down at the mob of slaves who were intent upon reaching them and rending them to pieces. A sudden 'clunk' from the other end of the drill heralded the return of Blind. He had reclaimed his perch atop it and was trying to open the hatch again. "He's a persistent little pest, I'll give him that." She muttered. Just then something else caught Kokyrie's eye. It was a round shaft of wood hanging within easy reach from where she was standing. Her hands eagerly grabbed it and pulled it up from beside the machine. It was a heavy sledge hammer that had once been used to drive railroad ties into the tracks that ran all throughout the mine. Kokyrie guessed that it must have been in the mine cart the drill's arms had grappled earlier and then fallen out along with the rest of the tools. Only this one had gotten hung up on top of the drill instead of falling to the ground. And now Kokyrie had it. "It's hammer time!" she cried. She put the heavy tool to use caving in the skulls of whichever slave came the closest to reaching the top of the drill. Kokyrie also remembered what had happened the last time she'd tried this same tactic atop the cliff just after they'd first arrived. "I don't think we should stay here too long." She called to Arnold. "We'll end up being surrounded with nowhere else to go but down!" She glanced over her shoulder at what was going on on the other side of the drill. There were blind savages everywhere but their ranks were not as thick as the ones gathered before them. "You think we should try and make a break for it?" Kokyrie asked her fellow pirate. |

"You think we should try and make a break for it?" Kokyrie asked Arnold as he joined her on top of the drill. He had managed to keep the Valuans and slaves at bay before Kokyrie joined him and now the two of them where almost completely surrounded on top of the drill. Secretly he was pleased to see her and that she was ok, after all it would of been a lose for Arnold to see such a woman to of become just food for these savages. As she swung away with the hammer Arnold checked the area she had pointed out. It had only a few of the savages and there was a chance they could make a run for it, then again it was their only route from the way things where going. ''I guess we have no choice in the matter.'' Arnold said as he took a few more swipes at the hands of the savages who had climbed the side of the machine. Yet Arnold knew that he and Kokyrie where not the only ones on the drill. Their friend Blind was back at the hatch and once again struggling to get back inside of the machine. ''Get ready to run!'' Arnold said to Kokyrie, yet his eyes fixed on the hatch that every passing second was getting weaker from Blind's attempts to open it. Just then one of the Ixa'taka savages managed to get on top of the drill and took Arnold by surprise. Coming from behind him the slave pushed him over using it's weight to pin him down. ''Just get going!'' Arnold yelled at Kokyrie as he pushed the slave up with one hand while using his other to impale his head with his sword. He rolled over and dropped the dead slave into the crowd of savages, knocking a few down while some others started to feed. Getting back up Arnold ran over to Blind, his sword at the ready he lashed out at head height but some how Blind seemed to 'see' his attack coming and dropped to his knees. ''No light!'' Blind screamed as he took a hold of Arnold's legs and pulled him forwards so that his body fell backwards. The weight of Arnold landing on the top of the drill caused the hatch to fling open. ''No you don't!'' The black Pirate rushed to his knees and grabs Blind's Leg as he tried to get into the drill. ''No more light...Greed must die!'' Blind screamed as he pulled away from Arnold, his arm reaching into the drill as he tried to push the control panel. Just then Blind pulled so much that Arnold lost balance and the two of them went head first into the drill's hatch. Designed for one driver Lance found himself face to face with Blind who started to snap at his face with his teeth. Arnold held him back buy pushing his armored hand against Blind's face, using the metal to stop him from biting him. The Black Pirate looked around for a way out but with Blind basically on top of him he could not get free. ''One of these must do something!'' He yelled as he started pushing buttons with his free hand. One of them did as he heard a loud noise from out side. One of the 'arms' shot out and impaled several savages before taking a hold of one and started to swing around. It' finally let go sending the guard into the air. The arm then retracted, slowly pushing the savages it had impaled into a pile behind it. ''Come on!'' Arnold yelled as Blind was not only snapping at him but had got an arm free and was now clawing at him. His hand came down fast and hit against the side of Arnold's armor quickly followed again by another swipe. The third time was still an attack but was not as aggressive, in fact it missed as his hand came to a stop. ''No light...'' Blind said as his head turned away from Arnold to look to his left. His hand raised and almost became something that looked like he was pointing. His finger was pointing to a small control panel of to the side. ''No see.....no end...'' Blind muttered. Just then he sniffed the air before violently turning back to Arnold, ''Food!'' He screamed into Arnold's face as he started to slash at him again. He took a few snaps at the air in from of Arnold's face with his teeth but thanks to his odd moment the Black pirate had got free and dropped down below Blind. He got onto his back and placed his legs under the savage Valuan. ''Take off!'' He yelled as he kicked upwards from under Blind who was sent flying out from the hatch. He flew a few meters above the drill before landing with a crash on top of the machine. It seemed as if he did not have the energy to get up and simple rolled over the side and landed in the mob of savages. Valuan guards started to claw at him but the slaves came rushing in to fight them off. ''What is this?'' Arnold questioned himself as he was now safe inside the drill, unless one of the savages made it on to the top of the drill. He looked at the small control panel Blind had seemed to point to. It was a small pad with nine buttons all numbered one to nine. Hanging just over it was a small folder sheet of paper, both of which where covered in bloody hand prints. Lance took the paper and opened it up. On one side was a simple number code while the other seemed to be a hand drawn map of the mine. ''No way...'' Arnold said to himself as he worked out which chamber he was in. From the map it would appear that below the chamber was another almost four times the size if the map was anything to go by, yet it was the writing that interested him. ''Moon Stone hold?'' He repeated the words on the paper. Just then a noise came from above, he looked up to see a slave looking down on him from the hatch. Like an instance reflex Arnold thrust his blade upwards and into the open mouth of the savage. Twisting his sword he freed it then punched the slave in the face causing it to roll off the top of the drill. ''Let's see.'' Arnold turned the sheet over and pushed the buttons in the order on the paper. Another noise came from above him but it was a mechanical sound. He looked up to see the hatch closing with him still inside. He quickly stood up and rushed out from the drill, his foot almost caught as the hatch closed up tight. ''Automated?'' Was the only thing he could think off. Just then the drill started to rumble as the engine started up. The machine then slowly turned, the large drill even though not spinning took out a large group of guards that where standing in front of it. It was hard to see if they where dead of just knocked over by the drill. Arnold jumped down as the drill started to make it's own way towards the center of the room. ''kokyrie!?'' Arnold yelled, not too bothered about the savages hearing him as the drill was making the most noise in the room. Yet his voice did attract the attention of a couple of slaves who started to approach him. They moved in a group and slowly split into two group and Blind came out from behind them. He looked worse off than before, almost standing leaning over forwards with his hand pushed against his chest where Kokyrie's arrow had hit. Letting out a scream the slaves rushed at Arnold. ~ The large Valuan drilling machine made it's way towards the center of the room on it's own. Mowing down anyone or anything that got in it's way. At the center of the chamber it came to a stop then slowly turned as it to position it's self. For a moment it seemed as if it had stopped but then the large back wheels started to move. They pushed down a little as metal polls extended, slowly pushing the machine up on the spot so that it was facing down at the floor. As soon as the drill's nose was pointing down at the ground it started to slowly spin, getting faster and faster until it reached what Arnold and Kokyrie had seen before to be it's top speed. At this time Arnold was still holding back the savages as Blind seemed to just watch on. He had only looked away for a second to finish of the group of slaves and Blind was as god as gone once more. ''He's quick for a Blind guy.'' Arnold said as he looked over at the drill. For the moment he was safe, the noise from the drill was confusing both sides of the savages and the nose of the drill was only just touching the dirt but was enough to cover up any smell in the room. ''Blind must of planned this before losing his mind!'' Arnold held the map open. The drill according to the hand drawn map was right above the second chamber and looked like it was going to drill down into it. ''But something bothers me.'' Arnold looked at the drill, ''Why drill vertical, why not at an angle?'' As Arnold asked this something else odd was going on. The drill was starting to spin even faster than when Blind had attacked them. It kept going and going until then the tip of the drill started to glow bright red as a sign of the drill itself over heating. As the drill started to glow red it dropped against the ground and started to chew the ground up, dirt and large rocks started to fly into the air as the drill made it's way into the ground. ''That thing could explode if it just keeps getting faster.'' Arnold said as he covered his face from the dirt. ''hold on...'' Arnold looked at the map once more before dropping it. ''If that thing blows in a chamber full of Moon stones?'' He was not sure what was going on but without knowing just how deep the second chamber was it looked like the whole mine could go up in just a few moments. The end of the machine had just disappeared down the new hole, it's noise getting distance which allowed for the savages to locate him and Kokyrie. ''We need to find a way out.'' Arnold looked around as he spotted Blind who was in the far corner of the room, sitting down as he held his chest. Around him a group of savages slave who where protecting him or waiting for their leader to die so that they could feed. ''Who knows, we could get lucky and that chamber could be too deep to reach us?'' Arnold said trying to look on what little bright side there was down here. |

''I guess we have no choice in the matter.'' Arnold agreed with her. "Get ready to run!" Kokyrie nodded and turned around to swat aside a couple of the blind savages who were approaching them from behind. Her attention then shifted back to Blind who had nearly pulled the drill's hatch open. ""We need to stop him first!" She called to Arnold. If he managed to reclaim the use of his machine Kokyrie was certain they wouldn't be able to pry Blind out of it a second time. Arnold looked as if he were about to make a move when one of the slaves lunged up at him from the ground and pulled him down. ''Just get going!'' The Valuan pirate yelled at her, once again forcing Kokyrie to choose between preserving her own life and risking it to save a comrade. "You know you'd miss me if I left!" Kokyrie rejected his suggested and chose to stay put. It seemed to her that the slave wasn't much of a threat to Arnold so she decided to pick up where he left off and attack Blind herself. With nimble steps she approached his armored back and raised her hammer. She swung it downwards with all of her might, aiming to crush his skull with it, but found her attack being intercepted instead. Without even looking back at her Blind's hand shot out, catching the hammer's haft just before it struck him. Then, with an almost casual gesture he wrenched it aside, causing Kokyrie to lose her balance in the process. She fell from the top of the drill and landed atop a pair of savages who were waiting below. Fortunately her weight knocked them to the ground as well so that they were unable to attack her. Kokyrie struggled to extract herself from the writhing mass of limbs she was entangled in. "Aaahh!" She gasped as one of the slaves sank its teeth into her arm. "Damn you!" Kokyrie wrenched her wounded limb free and slammed her elbow into his face again and again until he quit moving. Pulling herself to her feet Kokyrie delivered a hard stomp to the head of the second slave, knocking him unconscious for a while. She retrieved her hammer and brandished it against several more who now had her surrounded. "Anyone else want a piece of me?" She growled menacingly. "Well, come and get it!" When the slaves surged forward to devour her Kokyrie felt that her end was near. The slaves had her hemmed in against the drill's cabin and she could see no way to escape the predicament. But before a single one of them could lay a hand on her one of the drill's mechanical tentacles activated and lashed out at them. Kokyrie saw it coming and ducked out of its path but the closest slaves were not so fortunate. The tentacle lanced through their ranks like a spear, impaling their bodies and then sweeping them aside like so much garbage. Kokyrie stood up, gawking in surprise at what had just happened. The other slaves who had been behind the rest suddenly stopped, gaping in fear. "It moves!" One of them gasped. "Flee!" Another cried. And then the slaves turned to run. Kokyrie spun around to see what had frightened them but saw nothing that should have made them react like that. "What are they so..." She started. But then the truth struck her. If the tentacles were active now then the rest of the drill probably was too. Kokyrie's eyes darted up to the hatch to see two pairs of armored boots sticking out of it. "And what are those two...." Her words were cut off when Blind came rocketing out of the cabin and fell to the ground on the other side of drill. "Arnold is driving it now?" Kokyrie smiled, glancing at the huge drill in a new light. "This thing might be our ticket out of this Moons-forsaken place!" Kokyrie clambered atop the drill and peered down into the cabin. "Make room! I'm coming down!" She called down to Arnold. But just as she was swinging her leg down through the hatch one of the blind slaves materialized beside her and lunged at her. Kokyrie threw herself backwards to avoid its clutches and fell back down to the ground. The impact drove the wind from her lungs and caused black starbursts to flash before her eyes. For a few seconds Kokyrie lay dazed beside the drill. "You little son of a....ow, geez." Kokyrie muttered. Her hand massaged the back of her head as she opened her eyes. Her vision cleared enough for her to see that she was in danger once again. She'd fallen off on the opposite side of the drill where Blind had wound up. Now he was standing a short distance away with a pack of slaves to either side of him. And he looked angry. "Kokyrie!?" Came Arnold's anxious voice from nearby. Kokyrie rolled onto her stomach and got her hands and knees beneath her. "Yeah, still kicking." She groaned as she pushed herself back to her feet. The sledgehammer had landed next to her and she picked it up as well, dusting off its bloodstained head in anticipation of using it again very soon. For a moment the two of them were locked in a tense standoff with the blind savages. Taking advantage of the brief respite Kokyrie turned to address Arnold. "Lance. We may not make it out of this alive." She said in a soft voice, her eyes boring into him. "If that's the case, then so be it. But there's something I need to tell you first;" "This is the worst date I've ever been on." ~ And that was when all hell broke loose. Blind's slaves rushed forward to attack them just as the drill lurched into motion behind them of its own accord. It pulled away to reveal a third group of savages beyond where it had been parked, this one made up entirely of soldiers. They'd moved in to chase the slaves who'd fled when the drill had started up and were still loitering in the area. Now they had a new adversary to face in Blind's gang. And the two pirates were caught between them. "Oh bloody hell! If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all!" Kokyrie howled in frustration as the area around her became a battlefield populated by angry blind cannibals. But at least the soldiers were giving the slaves something to chew on aside from herself. "They're not the cavalry but I guess they'll do." Kokyrie muttered. She crouched low to avoid the reaching grasp of one of the slaves and swept his legs from beneath him with her hammer. No sooner had he fallen than two of the soldiers leapt atop his body and tore into him. Kokyrie scrambled to her feet and bashed one of them over the head and booted the second one in the face, knocking them both to the ground. She caught sight of Arnold and saw that he was holding his own. But of Blind, there was no sight. He'd run off again, probably chasing after his beloved drill again. "Somebody needs to put a bell on that guy!" Kokyrie grumbled, side-stepping the awkward lunge of one of the soldiers. She stuck her foot out, tripping him. He struck the ground only a second before Kokyrie's hammer struck his head. ''He's quick for a Blind guy.'' Arnold agreed, surprising her with his unexpected appearance. It wasn't until that moment that Kokyrie realized that most of the savages they'd been fighting had been defeated. There were more around but for the moment they'd lost interest in attacking them. The object of their distraction was easy to recognize. At the center of the room the drill had repositioned itself and was burrowing straight down into the floor. Kokyrie figured that Blind was back at the controls and making a quick retreat back to the lower floor where he held sway. ''Blind must of planned this before losing his mind!'' Arnold stated. "Planned what?" Kokyrie asked curiously. "This brilliant escape route?" ''But something bothers me.'' Arnold persisted. ''Why drill vertical, why not at an angle?'' "Maybe he didn't plan it at all." Kokyrie guessed. "He doesn't seem to be in his right mind. This could be some addled notion he came up with just now." By now the drill was starting to disappear into the ground. If it kept going like it was it would break through the ceiling of the chamber below and plummet to the ground below. ''That thing could explode if it just keeps getting faster.'' Arnold said, pointing out the heat rising from the drill. "Hold on...If that thing blows in a chamber full of Moon stones?'' Kokyrie leaned down to pick up whatever Arnold had dropped. It looked like a map of some sort. Being both the captain of a ship and a treasure hunter she knew how to read one. She quickly located their position amid the confusing lines and boxes that indicated the mine's layout. And directly beneath the chamber they were in now was.... "If there are half as many Moon Stones being stored down there was we were led to believe then this entire mountain could come crashing down on our heads!" Kokyrie answered in a panicked voice. "Screw the treasure! We need to get out of here right now!" ''Who knows, we could get lucky and that chamber could be too deep to reach us?'' Arnold said hopefully. Kokyrie shook her head. "With all the tunnels that lunatic has dug through the walls I'd wager the whole place will collapse." In the midst of this frantic situation she could feel the fear building within her. And yet at the same time Kokyrie also felt a rush of excitement filling her entire being. THIS was the sort of challenge that she had come to crave from life. No one could truly appreciate their lives until the moment just before they were snuffed out. And needless to say Kokyrie was starting to feel pretty damned appreciative right now. Kokyrie's eyes scanned the chamber feverishly, picking out several of the tunnels that connected to it; some part of the original construction and others dug by Blind himself. The one she'd entered through had caved in so that one was no good but perhaps one of the others would lead to their freedom. "Well, which one do you want to try?" She asked Arnold. "One's as good as another I suppose." |

Kokyrie pointed out that with all the random tunnels dug into the mine by Blind any kind of explosion would more than likely bring the whole mountain down on top of them. Arnold was looking for a challenge to accomplish by himself in order to prove to the other Black Pirates that he was no longer a joke but someone to be feared. Yet this simple task of locating some long forgotten Moon Stones in an abandoned mine had turned into something much worse. As he took a quick look at Kokyrie he could see that she too was some what scared, yet something about her showed that she was also excited about the situation. "Well, which one do you want to try?" She asked Arnold. "One's as good as another I suppose." Her voice reminded him of the danger they where now in. The noise from the drill was starting to grow faint as it dug deeper into the under ground. ''Indeed any would do as there is no telling which way they lead.'' Arnold looked around as he was not the only one to notice the noise disappearing down into the ground. ''We better make it quick.'' Arnold nodded towards the closest group of savages who started to move their heads around as if they where trying to locate them. The savages closet to them seemed interested as they started to move closer, three slaves from Ixa'taka. However the others had started to locate each other once more as the guards attacked the slaves all around the mine. ''Seems they don't realize the danger they are in.'' Arnold muttered as his eyes scanned the tunnels. ''It's like picking the best place to die.'' He did not have any confidence in the tunnels as the few he has already been in lead right back to the main area. ''Wait!'' Arnold suddenly said to Kokyrie. ''That room! The locked room. That door was thick metal!'' He had realized that from the look of the door it was too fancy for the slaves or even your average guard. ''Most likely the quarters for who ever was in charge down here and I'm guessing it's reinforced incase anything like this ever happened.'' Arnold flicked his hair as a confident grin appeared on his face. ''You know Valuan's like to look out for number one after all.'' By now the noise had become a simple whisper as the slaves rushed at Arnold and kokyrie. ''Find blind!'' Lance slashed out with his sword taking off the hand of the slave that reached out to grab him. ''Get that key!'' He delivered his boot to the one handed slave, knocking him to the floor and causing the following savage to trip over him. ''And with an unknown amount of time, exciting!'' The fear in Arnold started to feel more like excitement. ''And I have a feeling where we can find him!'' The Black Pirate swung his blade out, pointing it towards the corner of the chamber where a group of guards where advancing on some slaves who seemed to be huddled around something. Arnold bent down and picked up the severed hand from the slave her attacked only moments ago. He tossed it behind him, smacking a guard in the face. In no time at all most of the savages rushed over, forgetting about Kokyrie and Arnold for the moment. ''Let's go!'' Arnold called out as he started to run towards the corner where something was clearly going on. The two of them had to pass the hole in the ground, Arnold ran around it's edge taking a quick look down but could only see darkness and hear the soft sound of the drill. ''Not much time, I would guess?'' He did not stop to take a closer look. Arnold finally reached the unknown event, stopping in his tracks he took his sword in hand. ''Where are you!'' He yelled, hoping to cause confusion between the guards and slaves. His voice did the trick as the guards stopped attacking the slaves and turned their attention to Arnold and kokyrie. ''You ok with the guards and I'll take the slaves.'' Lance grinned, knowing that any second their lives could end from what was going to happen below them. The guards started to approach them yet the slaves stood their ground as if they where protecting something or someone. ''Worst date you say? I agree. Yet I wouldn't of wanted it any other way.'' Arnold winked at Kokyrie before running head first into the guards. Ducking his head he charged into the one dead center, flipping him into the air and out of his way. ~ ''Alright you savages! Where is he?'' Arnold stood facing the slaves, six in total. Two started to move closer to him, their jaws snapping as they sniffed the air. As they moved closer they revealed what was behind them, and just as Arnold thought it was Blind. The first slave lunged at Lance but he stepped backwards just in time to let the slave miss and fall face first onto the ground. Arnold's boot followed quickly after and smashed the slave's head. His blade made short work of the second savage, without armor his head was an easy target to separate from his body. No sooner as the two fell the next two in line started to move forwards, but as they took just a few steps a low almost soft scream came from behind them. This caused the remaining four to step aside, almost as if they could understand the scream like an order to stand down. Arnold lowered his sword, a little confused as to what was going on. The savages stood watching him, their hands and mouths twitching as Arnold took a few steps towards Blind who was crouched down with his face to the wall. ''Time to die.'' Arnold raised his sword and aimed for the back of Blind's unprotected head. Without hesitation Arnold swung his blade but was shocked as blind turned around, his hand catching the blade. The sword dug into his armor as blood started to drip down his arm, yet this was not what shocked Arnold. Blind looked worse than before, if that was possible. The savage screamed, yet it was not as loud as before and as he did so he spat up a green like sick from his mouth. This substance was already covering most of his armor and there was also a puddle of it on the ground where he had been crouched over. ''Kokyire..'' Arnold smirked as his eyes focused on the arrow that still stuck out from Blind's armor. ''Beaten by a woman.'' Arnold smiled, ''It will be hard living with her now.'' Just then Blind took a swipe at Arnold, releasing his grip on his sword. The attack missed as it seemed there was no effort in the swing of his arm. ''Never see light..'' Blind muttered as he spat up more off the green gunk. ''Not slave fault......but all die now..'' The savage Valuan pushed against the wall as he tried to stand up. Arnold watched as he kept an eye on the four slaves who where still stand and watching, yet he could tell that at any moment they would love nothing more than to attack him. Blind stood up, facing Arnold he twitched his head as his teeth started to snap. He raised his hand hand pushed it against his own head, as if he was fighting the need to feed on Arnold. Just then he screamed softly as he spat even more green gunk out. As he did so he reached for his right shoulder and griped the skull he was wearing on it. He tugged it a few times until the old leather belts that had seen better days snapped. Arnold could only watch with confusion, he wanted nothing more than to end Blind's life but he wanted to see just what the savages was doing. Suddenly Blind shoved the skull into Arnold's hands, ''You saw light....you must live.'' Arnold took the skull in one hand, completely confused as to what had just happened. He shook the skull and to his surprise it rattled. ''What the?'' Arnold took a look into one of the eye sockets and to his surprise saw a small gold key within the skull. ''Kokyrie!'' The Black pirate turned to check on the Ixa'taka woman who he knew could take care of the guards by herself. ''We have the key, that room is out best bet!'' Not only was the room most likely reinforced but almost all of the slaves from down there where now up here with the guards. Before Arnold could make his way over to Kokyrie he was hit in the back, nothing hard but it was clearly a attack no matter how weak. He turned back and there was Blind swinging his arms out at him. ''Food, need food!'' He spat up more green gunk as he lunged at Arnold. The look on his face was not like before but now almost like that of the other savages in the room. Lance was about to strike back with his sword when the four slaves started to sniff the air. ''Protect..'' They started to mutter between themselves. Arnold got ready for the five on one fight but was not ready for what happened. The four slaves seemed to 'look' at the skull in Arnold's hand before turning and attacking Blind. ''Well no time to question this, let's go!'' Arnold ran over to Kokyrie as there was no time to wonder about what just happened as they still had no idea when the drill would hit the next chamber. Arnold started to run back towards the tunnel that lead back down to the section of the mine that had the locked room. Approaching the hole in the ground he once more ran by the edge of it and looked over seeing a very faint green glow between the darkness. ''Not much time!'' He yelled which caused the Valuan guard to turn and face him. ''Taker of light!'' They muttered as they started to approach him and kokyrie. ''Me? No you want that guy!'' Arnold pointed back over at Blind but he was no longer where he was standing, only four dead slaves occupied the area. ''Taker of light!'' Arnold swung back around as this voice was too close for comfort. The Valuan pirate almost fell backwards as Blind was the one who spoke as was standing in front of him. The savage took a swung at him which was easy to dodge as it was clear he did not have long to go before the poison took him. ''I don't have time for you!'' Arnold yelled as he pushed Blind to one side, knocking him towards the edge of the hole in the ground. The savage was only an inch from the hole if he knew it or not but that did not stop him from taking a swing at Kokyrie. More guards started to move towards them but so did the slaves as one jumped out in front of Arnold as if to stop the guards from attacking him. ''Something about this skull but we need to get to that room!'' Arnold ran towards the tunnel and jumped in head first as the whole mine started to rumble. |

''We better make it quick.'' Arnold answered Kokyrie. It seemed the blind savages were once again searching for them now that the noise had died down. ''Seems they don't realize the danger they are in.'' He continued. And he was right. Even with the mine about to come crashing down around their ears, it was business as usual for the hapless creatures. "Ignorance is bliss I guess." Kokyrie agreed. She gauged the distance between them and the nearest savage and quickly reloaded her crossbow. Clicking the trigger-lock she slid it back over her shoulder, within easy reach just in case, and readied her hammer. ''Wait! That room! The locked room. That door was thick metal!'' Arnold suddenly exclaimed. His voice caused Kokyrie to start in surprise and nearly trip over her own feet. "Oh yeah, the one on the lower floor." Kokyrie returned in a softer voice, trying to draw as little attention to them as she could. "I guess it's important somehow since it's locked but it could be anything. An armory, a vault full of gold. Heck, it's a janitor's closet for all we know. But how does any of that help us to not be crushed when the Moon Stones explode?" She hissed doubtfully. ''Most likely the quarters for whoever was in charge down here and I'm guessing it's reinforced in case anything like this ever happened." Arnold answered her. ''You know Valuans like to look out for number one after all.'' Kokyrie shrugged her shoulders but nodded. "Yeah, that too maybe. It's worth a shot." She agreed, glancing at the approaching savages and then over to the hole the drill had disappeared through. "Better odds then hanging around here anyway." Suddenly a group of slaves surged towards them with their teeth bared hungrily. "Find Blind!" Arnold called as he leapt into action. "Get that key!" "I'm on it!" Kokyrie answered as she moved to meet the first wave of savages. She swung her hammer upward like a golf club, catching one of them beneath the chin, snapping his neck instantly. He fell backwards to the ground and a second slave stumbled over him in his haste to reach Kokyrie. Reversing the motion of her arm she brought the hammer down on the back of his skull while he was off balance, dropping his dead weight atop the first slave. By now the soldiers had surrounded a group of slaves who were huddled in one corner. They in turn were about to be blind-sided by the slaves who were stealing up behind them. "Let's go!" Arnold barked as he followed them with Kokyrie close behind. As the two of them approached the rear ranks some of the blind savages turned to intercept them. "Guess they still have the wherewithal to recognize the two of us even in the middle of all this madness." Kokyrie observed. She was beginning to envy the sense of smell these creatures possessed. ''You ok with the guards and I'll take the slaves.'' Arnold suggested. It seemed a little divide & conquer was in order now. "Yeah, that sounds like a plan." Kokyrie agreed. She was secretly thankful for the suggestion. Having to fight against her own people, even if they were murderous cannibals now, was unsettling. She wasn't certain about it but perhaps Arnold felt the same way about killing his fellow Valuans. "Well then, the clock's ticking." Kokyrie smirked at the Valuan pirate. "Let's get to work." ~ While Arnold was busy dealing with Blind and his slaves Kokyrie was leading the blind Valuans on a merry chase. "This way boys! Meat on the table!" She called out to them, turning around to give her rump a slap. Weighed down as they were with their armor the soldiers couldn't keep up with the nimble huntress. And yet their hunger spurred them onward in a relentless pursuit. "That's right boys. Just keep following me." Kokyrie giggled. She was purposefully leading the soldiers away from the corner where Arnold was fighting the slaves. Thankfully their blindness and hunger were working in her favor. "Food!" The soldier in the lead screamed mindlessly. His arms stretched out to grasp at Kokyrie but she remained teasingly out of his reach. "Must eat! Must have fo~" His words were cut off when the tip of his boot caught on the edge of one of the mine rails and he flopped face-first down on the ground. The soldiers following behind him couldn't see the hazard and they too fell, toppling over like dominoes. "Watch your step boys!" Kokyrie chortled at their predicament. "You don't want to fall down and....oh, hmmm." She broke off in mid-sentence as a cunning plan took root in her mind. "Alright you miserable lot! On your feet and get moving!" Kokyrie suddenly changed her tactic, this time spurring the soldiers onward while leading them on a path devoid of obstruction. The soldiers scrambled over one another and finally disentangled themselves from the tangle of limbs. Kokyrie waited patiently a short distance away until they renewed their pursuit of her. "That's right! Keep coming! Just follow the sound of my voice!" She called out to keep them from losing track of her. The soldiers did as they were told and dogged her footsteps until Kokyrie found herself standing between them and the deep pit the drill had tunneled through the floor. "That's it. Almost there now!" Kokyrie cried, coming to a halt. The soldiers continued following her and she let them draw closer and closer until they were near enough to touch. Then, getting a good running start, she ran straight towards the pit and took a flying leap over it. She landed on the other side and immediately resumed her cat-calling. "This way! Just a little further!" The soldiers walked straight towards the sound of her voice. "A little more!" The lead soldier reached the edge of the pit and tottered on the brink. "A few more steps!" The rest of the mob pushed forward, knocking him into the pit and kept moving. "And.....STOP!" Kokyrie concluded as the soldiers flowed into the deep hole like water. As the last of their numbers dropped through the opening she peered down at them. She could barely make out the heap of flesh and iron lying far below. "And that takes care of that." Kokyrie sighed, wiping a few beads of sweat from her forehead. "Now, where did Lance get off to?" ~ ''Kokyrie!'' Arnold's voice rang out in the underground chamber as the Valuan pirate trotted over to join her. ''We have the key, that room is out best bet!'' "Watch out!" Kokyrie warned him as Blind rushed up and attacked him from behind. But in a strange turn of events the blind slaves moved in to hold him at bay. She wondered at this occurrence but ruled out the possibility that they'd mistaken Blind for one of the other soldiers. However sight-challenged these people were they had an uncanny ability to tell friend from foe. ''Well no time to question this, let's go!'' Arnold urged her into motion. But the sight of the skull he was carrying made her question their situation all the more. A quick glance over her shoulder revealed that it was indeed the same trophy Blind had been wearing proudly upon his shoulder earlier. Her suspicions were confirmed when they were approached by a Valuan soldier who addressed Arnold as the "Taker of Light", a title which, until now, had only been applied to Blind. "It's that damn bone you're holding!" Kokyrie shouted to him. "They think you're Blind now!" As if responding to his own name being called Blind appeared to block their path again. "Taker of Light!" He yelled at Arnold, causing Kokyrie to do a double-take. Was his mind so addled now that he had lost all awareness of himself? Arnold pushed Blind aside but that brought him a little too close to Kokyrie than she cared to be. "Keep your hands to yourself!" She growled, avoiding his awkward attack with a quick backstep. With an impressive display of speed and timing Kokyrie tossed her hammer up into the air and, at the same time, brought her crossbow up into firing position. She launched another arrow at Blind and returned the crossbow to her shoulder just in time to raise her hand and catch the falling hammer. Kokyrie didn't have time to wait around and see if her attack had done any good or not. The soldiers were closing in on them again. Thankfully the slaves were also moving to intercept them, buying the two pirates enough time to make good on their escape. "I think we've overstayed our welcome." Kokyrie huffed as she and Arnold raced towards the tunnel leading down to the lower level. "Let's get out of here! But whatever happens...don't drop that skull!" |

Kokyrie's arrow penetrated Blind's neck, cutting into the front and passing all the way out of the other side leaving a hole which started to pour out the green gunk. The Savage raised his hand as if to reach for his neck but it did not make it all the way as both his arms fell limp to his sides. His mouth stayed wide open as he let out a few grunting sounds followed by the green liquid as it ran out from his mouth. Blind stumbled a step backwards as the edge of the hole started to crumble away from the weight of him and his armor. Then without warning the ground beneath him gave way causing him to topple over backwards. The look on his face and lack of movement would of suggested that he had died just seconds before falling into the hole, yet if he was or not was another question. He was not alone as two savages slaves followed him, not knowing the danger and certain death that would follow from entering the hole. At any moment the over heating drill would brake into the Moon Stone chamber and cause the whole mine to go up. ~ "Let's get out of here! But whatever happens...don't drop that skull!" Kokyrie huffed as Arnold jumped head first into the tunnel. Just as before he knew that falling down would be much quicker than trying not to slip and fall, and right now he had no idea what time they had. He landed on his front but soon turned himself around and into his back with his legs out forwards, the skull firmly in his grasp. As the Valuan pirate made his way down the tunnel he could only hope that the key that Blind kept in the skull was indeed for that door they saw earlier. Yet the key was not the only thing on his mind, the skull itself was a mystery to him. Arnold could not help but think about how the savage slaves attacked Blind and not him, and the way they seemed to help him and Kokyrie when the savages guards attacked. One thing was for sure, Arnold had never felt excitement like this back in the Armada. ''I see light!'' The light at the bottom of the tunnel snapped Arnold back to the door and the key. Landing feet first his was up and away, running across the large room towards the door. ''I can only hope this works!'' As the Black pirate ran he shook the skull as the key rattled around inside. With his other hand open under the eye socket he tried to get the key to fall out. ''He gave this to me, he wanted me to have this?'' Arnold could not believe it but there was no other explanation, blind did give him the skull. Just then the key fell into Arnold's hand, ''Got it!'' He said as he almost ran into the door. He took a hold of the lock as he looked over his shoulder to check on kokyrie yet was sure she was right behind him. ''Give me a brake!'' Arnold called out as his eyes looked pass the Ixa'taka woman. Falling on top of one another at the bottom of the tunnel was a mixed group of savages. Guards who tried to stand and crawl over to them while slaves landed on them attacking. ''Come on, open!'' Arnold shoved the key into the lock and with a grin he twisted it, the lock opening up and falling to the ground. Lance grabbed the handle and pulled on the door but it did not shift. It was clear that the door had not been opened in a long time and so he used both hands and placed them on the edge of the door and started to pull. Slowly it started to open, ''Kokyire, a hand!'' He said as the door slowly opened. ''Ok, get in!'' Arnold said as the large metal door was about half open. He ran inside to find that the room was nothing but darkness, yet closing the door was all that mattered. With a couple of pulls the door slammed shut much quicker than it opened. As the door shut and the sound of the catch clicked Arnold found himself in complete darkness. ~ ''I.....'' a voice said as it spat blood. Blind was laying on top of the drill as it dug it's way down. His leg's both broken from the great fall as well as his right arm, the bone sticking out. Around him was his own blood mixed with the green poison. He turned his head so it was facing up the hole and raised his left arm. Spreading his fingers he used his hand as if to cover the light coming down from the chamber above. ''I...end it all....'' Blind 's head fell to one side. The drill started to shake as it hit something hard, it had reached the lower Moon Stone chamber. As the large Valuan machine burst from the ceiling it fell into a huge pile of Moon Stones and at the same time the over heated drill exploded on impact as if the amount of time it took to heat up and drill the hole had been worked out. In an instance the entire Moon Stone chamber burst into a fiery explosion that shook the entire mountain. The metal doors all around the chamber where like paper as they where ripped away from the walls in an instance. The moon Stone chamber set off a chain reaction as it spread in a matter of seconds all around the mine. Savages where still fighting and feeding with no time to react to the event as the flames burst out from the ground, sending the smashed lift high into the air. The tunnels each erupted with fire as the savages where burnt to nothing but ash in a instance. The explosion only took seconds to reach the lower chamber where Kokyrie and Arnold had taken their chances in the unknown room. Savage guards where clawing at the door as the fire burst into the chamber, turning them to ash as it passed. The metal door turned bright red but unlike the others it withstood the blast. The mountain started to rumble as each tunnel collapsed having only been drilled and not probably made stable. ~ Arnold felt around on the back of the door, ''Need to find some sort of lock!'' He said as he felt around in the darkness. His hand touched something metal with made a locking sound. His guess would of been that the door was locked but to make sure he searched around in the darkness for anything big and heavy to put in front of the door. ''Give me a hand with, whatever this is!'' Arnold called over to Kokyrie, hoping she would find him as he placed his hands on a large wooden object. Moving it only a few inches he felt books fell past his hands, revealing the object to be a book case of sorts. Just as they had done blocking the door a loud explosion could be heard from far off. Within a second of hearing the sound the whole room shook as Arnold found himself on the floor. ~ The noise finally stopped and so did the shaking as Arnold got back up from the ground. ''Is it over?'' He muttered, ''Are we alive?'' He put out his arms as searched the dark room, ''Kokyrie?'' He called out, hoping she too was fine. While wondering the darkness Arnold's foot hit against something with rolled. Something metal, but not solid metal. The sound was light as if it was a small item one could carry on them. The Valuan pirate dropped to his knees and his hands searched around for the object. ''It's got to be, it just has too!'' Arnold found the object and just as he had hoped it turned out to be a lamp. Twisting the device the small yellow Moon Stone shone it's light. He slowly swung the light to try and see were they where but the light could only show so much of the room. ''Some sort of office?'' He guessed from the books on the floor. Suddenly a new sound came from just a short distance near the door. ''What's that?'' Arnold tried to use the lamp to see what was making the noise. Just then a small red light flickered a few times before followed but a yellow one. The red one stopped as the yellow one stayed on, followed by a flicker of a green on. Suddenly the unmistakable sound of a machine started up and the room was flooded in light. ''Some kind of back up power?'' Arnold used his hand to cover his eyes from the sudden light. As his eyes adjusted he opened them to see just where they where. Arnold did not have any words for what he saw. The two of them where in a very fancy looking Valuan style office with large metal walls and expensive looking furniture. On the right side was a collection of large metal crates, the top one with it's lid open to revile they contained Moon Stones. The left of the room had your typical books and papers, probably to do with the mine and it's slaves. At the far side of the room was another metal door coated in gold and sliver. However what caught his attention was not what was in the room but who. In the center was a large table, and sat at that table was a man dressed in Valuan armor that only the upper guards would wear. Yet this body had no head. Arnold looked down at the floor and picked up the skull that he had dropped while barricading the door. ''Taker of light?'' He muttered as he placed the skull on the table, noticing the hand book. ''It's a diary.'' Arnold explained as he opened it up. ''Duglas Renaldi.'' Arnold repeated the name inside the front cover. ''It would seem this chap was not too pleased with working in the mines and started to take Moon Stones for himself.'' Arnold summed up what he was reading as he wondered about the room, eyeing the Moon Stones in the creates from time to time. ''Would seem his actions caused the Armada to cause a cave in, trapping him and the others down here.'' Arnold looked over at the headless body, ''Kokyrie, the hand writing is not consistent.'' ''We all know Duglas is to blame, but we don't need to worry about him no more. I have personally taken care of him.'' Arnold read selected pages from the diary. ''I'm not sure what we are becoming but I can't watch this no more. I have a plan that will end it all before we too become like the slaves.'' Arnold raised an eyebrow as he flicked past a few more pages. ''I have taken his room as my own, a place to think and not witness the feeding. Yet I can no longer look at his face so I have taken his head.'' The Valuan pirate looked at the headless Duglas before reading on. ''The head, I'm not sure why but the slaves, do they respect me for killing the one responsible?'' Arnold pulled out a chair and sat down as he became interested in just what had happened down here. ''We need to work together, but the others won't listen to me. The slaves will help me but I feel that the hunger is starting to take over their minds, what can I do?'' A few more pages are passed by. ''I have decided, I will plunge this place into darkness. I can no longer watch what we have become. That way they will not see their own death. The Moon Stone chamber will end it all.'' ''I knew it!'' Arnold stood up. ''He planned this all along, but why did he take all this time to do it?'' Arnold sat back down as she flicked more pages to try and work it out. He turned to a page with stained blood across it, ''I too hunger, just a snack or two before I set my plan into motion. Yet I can feel my mind slipping away as I feed. The golden gate is no longer an option for me. I will lock the door and never mention it again.'' Arnold closed the book and placed it down. ''The rest of the pages just have blood splattered across them.'' He said, realizing that Blind had indeed had good intentions but had lost his mind before he could end the madness. ''Golden gate?'' Arnold wondered what Blind had been on about. That was when he remembered the gold and sliver door at the back of the room. He walked over and placed his hand on the door as he looked closer with confusion. ''This is no door.'' He said as he pulled the sliding doors apart from each other. At first they seemed stuck but then opened up in an almost automatic way. Arnold poked his head inside then back out again as he looked over to Kokyrie, ''It's a lift!'' he shouted, ''It's a lift and it looked to go up!'' The Valuan pirate ran over to the creates of Moon Stones, ''Go half with you?'' He said as he stared to move one of the creates to the lift doors. He placed it inside but as he did a noise came from the lift. ''That doesn't sound good.'' Arnold pulled the metal create back out and looked up from inside the lift. He could see that time had not been kind to the system at all. ''Just are luck, I don't think this thing will take much weight.'' He looked over at the creates full of Moon Stones. ''Take what you can carry?'' He suggested as he picked up to fair sized Moon Stones and placed them on his belt. ''Better than nothing I guess.'' Arnold got inside the lift, ''Going up?'' He called to Kokyrie. |

Kokyrie followed Arnold into the tunnel. sliding gracefully down its length. She ignored the scrapes and cuts on the soles of her bare feet even as they reached the bottom and raced towards the locked door. Once they had reached it the Valuan pirate began fiddling with the key. ''Give me a break!'' He complained as the lock resisted his efforts to open it. Kokyrie glanced back over her shoulder to see that some of the blind cannibals had followed them down to this level but were currently occupied with feeding on one another. But she was pretty sure they'd eventually catch wind of them sooner or later. "Being blown to bits or be eaten alive by cannibals. Tough call." Kokyrie muttered to herself. Finally Arnold managed to unlock the door but it appeared to have rusted shut. ''Kokyire, a hand!'' He asked for her assistance. "I'll do you one better." Kokyrie responded. She grasped the door firmly with both hands and then braced one of her long, supple legs against the wall. Together the two of them managed to pry the door open enough to slip inside and close the door behind them. ~ Kokyrie crouched down in the oppressive darkness of the room and strained her ears to hear the slightest sound of movement from within. Her ears were met by only silence. Nor could she "feel" the presence of anything in the room aside from herself and Arnold. ''Need to find some sort of lock!'' Arnold said, feeling about the doorknob for the latch. While he was occupied with that Kokyrie took a few hesitant steps into the room. "It wouldn't hurt to brace it with something either." She suggested. Arnold joined her in the search and soon located something heavy enough to slide against the door. ''Give me a hand with, whatever this is!' His voice called from the darkness. Holding her hands out in front of her Kokyrie made her way over to him, groping blindly forward until her palms lit upon his armored shoulders. From there she felt her way over to the bookcase he had found. Together they pulled the bookcase in front of the door to block it. And not a moment too soon! Just as they had completed the task the whole mountain began to shudder. Kokyrie instinctively threw herself beneath the desk and tucked her body into a fetal position. There she rode out the quakes. When at last the mountain quieted down Kokyrie crawled from beneath the desk and rose shakily to her feet. ''Is it over? Are we alive?'' Arnold's voice came from the darkness nearby. "Kokyrie?" He called to her in a concerned voice. "Yeah, I'm still kicking." She answered. "Or this could be the afterlife. But if it is I'm sorely disappointed with the accommodations." Kokyrie could hear Arnold rummaging around on the floor and a moment later a dimly glowing light appeared in the darkness. "Some sort of office?" He wondered aloud. "Looks like it. Was it Blind's before he went batty?" She guessed. Suddenly a soft sound issued from the darkness behind them. Kokyrie spun around, raising her hammer, only to see a trio of blinking lights on the wall. She tensed, as if expecting they were the timer on a bomb or something equally threatening. Instead they triggered the room's lighting. Kokyrie winced in the sudden brightness but her sight soon adjusted and she had her first real look at the room they were in. ''Some kind of back up power?'' Arnold asked. Kokyrie nodded. "An emergency generator. The quake must have knocked the main one offline." Just then the two of them realized they were not alone in the room. A headless corpse, long since decayed, occupied the chair behind the desk. "I guess we know where your skull came from." Kokyrie grimaced at the sight. She moved to the other side of the room, closer to the boxes full of Moon Stones. Arnold moved closer however. He picked up a book from the desk and began flipping through its pages. ''It's a diary.'' Arnold explained. ''Duglas Renaldi.'' He gave a name to the dead soldier who had written it. ''Kokyrie, the hand writing is not consistent.'' Arnold announced after reading a few pages. He then read some of them aloud, recounting the events that had led up to the origins of the blind savages who haunted the mines. ''The rest of the pages just have blood splattered across them.'' He concluded, laying the diary back down. Kokyrie shook her head, as if she could shake loose the story from her memories. "It's like something out of a horror novel." She sighed. Her hand reached into one of the crates and came back holding one of the Moon Stones. "But there's a happy ending at least." But Arnold seemed preoccupied with something he'd read in the diary. "Golden Gate?" He asked. Kokyrie shrugged. Perhaps he was talking about the gold-colored door on the far wall. Arnold went to inspect it and suddenly his spirits brightened. "This is no door. It's a lift! It's a lift and it looks to go up!" "Now that's a treasure worth finding!" Kokyrie smiled back at him. The knowledge that they were only a few steps away from freedom filled her with elation. Arnold stepped over to her and gestured towards the crates. ''Go half with you?'' Kokyrie nodded in agreement and together the two of them hefted one of the crates onto the lift. But the mechanism groaned painfully under its weight and they quickly moved it aside. ''That doesn't sound good.'' Arnold grunted. ''Just are luck, I don't think this thing will take much weight.'' "There goes our happy ending." Kokyrie sighed. "All this fuss for nothing." ''Take what you can carry?'' Arnold suggested. "Yeah. If I walk away from this with nothing I won't be able to show my face to my crew." She admitted. Arnold went to fill his pockets but Kokyrie moved over to the desk at the center of the room. She stared down at the skull on the table and then, on impulse, she picked up the diary and slipped it into her waistband. "A memento." Kokyrie explained to Arnold. It was a lie though. There was no way on Arcadia she'd ever be able to forget an event like this even if she lived to be a thousand years old. But there was a part of her that was still struggling to understand what had happened in this mine and how things had come to such a sorry state. This journal contained all the answers and right now Kokyrie felt like she needed those more than any treasure. Or not. Kokyrie crossed over to the crates and eagerly stuffed Moon Stones into every available pocket, even slipping a couple of them into her ample cleavage. When she was satisfied that she could carry no more without dropping them Kokyrie joined Arnold next to the elevator. ''Better than nothing I guess.'' Arnold shrugged. Kokyrie gave him 'the look' and didn't say a word. "Going up?" He asked. Kokyrie's only response was to grab Arnold be the collar and drag him into the lift. "Get in here." She muttered moodily. With a flick of her wrist she activated its controls and they began their ascent towards the light. ~ "Lance! Arnold Lance!" Kokyrie shouted his name as they stood together outside of the small shack built on the mountain's surface. "Now I remember where I've heard that name before!" Behind them the lift stood vacant. Beneath them the mountain still shuddered from time to time. If any of the blind savages had survived they would most likely be feeding on those who had not right now. And above them was the bright blue sky and the sunlight that had been stolen from those pitiable souls. "You're that hotshot rookie pirate with the bright pink ship!" Kokyrie pointed at Arnold, smiling from ear to ear. "Yeah, I've heard about you from some of the old salts. You did pretty well back there. Color me impressed." Just then the sky above was blotted out and the area around them was cloaked in shadow. Kokyrie glanced up at the underbelly of her ship as it sailed placidly overhead. In short order a rope ladder came clattering down from above and the face of another attractive woman peered down at them. "Come on Kyrie! Get your rear in gear!" Hannah called down from above. "I'm not seeing a lot of treasure down there!" She continued. "You've got some explaining to do!" Kokyrie glanced up at her and smiled. "Well, I'd better get going before she changes her mind." She said to Arnold as she caught the end of the ladder and began to climb up. Soon she was aboard and the ship began to pull away, leaving Arnold in its wake. "See you around New Guy!" Kokyrie called back to Arnold as the Viper rose into the sky and sailed off into the distance. |

The doors opened as the lift arrived at it's final stop. Arnold was first out as he looked around the dark room, yet not as dark as before. Light shone into the room from boarded up windows and a door could be seen on the other side of the room. As Arnold opened it he found himself and kokyrie standing outside of a small wooden shack that had been built on top of the mountain and over the lift. He guessed that it was probably once used as a look out to house a guard or two so that people would not use the lift and enter the mine with Valua knowing. The Black Pirate took a moment to think about how the guard he had come to know by the simple name Blind had the option of using this route to escape yet stayed behind in order to stop the madness. However her fell it the chaos before his plan was set into motion and it took all these years for him and Kokyrie to stumble across the lost mine and set them in motion themselves. They now stood on the very top of the mountain which had shifted and crumbled since they entered, almost looking like a different location than it once was. "Lance! Arnold Lance!" Kokyrie suddenly shouted out, snapping his attention over to her. ''That's right, Arnold Lance!'' He grinned as he rested his hand against his waist. "Now I remember where I've heard that name before!" kokyrie went on. Hearing this Arnold's smile started to disappear as he hoped that she had not known him from his early days of being a Black pirate when he was classed as nothing more than a joke, something he has only just made up for with his new ship and crew. "You're that hotshot rookie pirate with the bright pink ship!" Kokyrie pointed at Arnold, smiling from ear to ear. "Yeah, I've heard about you from some of the old salts. You did pretty well back there. Color me impressed." On hearing this Arnold smiled again while he flicked his hair away from his eyes. ''There is nothing more pleasing to me than impressing a beautiful woman such as yourself.'' Arnold was about to go on but stopped as a shadow cast over them both. A rope ladder came down with another woman already on it, calling out for kokyrie to join her. "See you around New Guy!" Kokyrie called out as the ship took her away. ''Indeed I will.'' Arnold rubbed his chin as he grinned. Only moments later another shadow came over him as the Black Rose appeared from behind the clouds. It lowered it's self as Arnold jumped from the edge of the mountain and landed on deck. Right away he stood up as his crew came out to greet him. ''Your ok sir?'' On of his men asked as they had watched the mountain crumble, not knowing if Arnold would make it out alive or not. ''How ever did you survive?'' Another asked, yet Arnold just stood there, his eyes closed and a grin on his face. ''Well what about the Moon Stones?'' Another asked him. ''Yeah, where the rumors true, where there any?'' The crew waited for an answer but again Arnold just stood there with his grin. ''Gentlemen!'' Arnold finally broke the silence as he flung his arm into the air. ''I have met a woman, and let me tell you...'' The second the Black pirate mentioned the word 'woman' a crew member dashed off into the ship. No sooner as he had gone he was back out with a large wooden board with names written on smaller thinner strips of wood in a list from top to bottom of the main board. The crew member place it into a hole in the deck in order to stand it up by itself. ''She was a hunter, deadly yet elegant.'' Arnold walked over and took a blank strip. ''She is from Ixa'taka but take my word she is no slave!'' He started to write on the strip. ''He name my friends, is Kokyrie!'' Arnold reached up and moved two strips down while placing the one with Kokyrie's name on it onto the board. ''She places 3rd!'' Arnold turned around and walked towards his cabin. ''The ball goes ahead in six hours time!'' And with that he closed the door behind him. The crew gathered around the board, some nodding their head's at the 3rd place that had been given to this woman. The very top of the board read, 'Arnold's most amazing and beautiful women who he has helped out, rescued, kidnapped or teamed up with ever!' ~ Arnold placed the Moon Stones on his desk as he sat down. ''I guess next time we meet I will have to test not only your combat skills but your dance moves too.'' (This is the end of the Boss Battle. The topic will now be closed and Bear and Myself will each get two Moonberries for this event. hope you enjoyed it!) Edited by Daiohma, Sep 3 2012, 06:45 PM.
