Annie managed to dodge all of the explosions with only a few singe marks to show for it. She turned back to inspect the damage they'd caused and frowned. "This thing's tougher than boot leather." Annie muttered. A large patch of the Nautilus' shell was blackened and cracked but didn't appear to have been penetrated deep enough to have done any real damage. Annie briefly considered unloading her machinegun upon the spot but decided against it. There was a good chance that she'd clip herself with a ricochet and the back of a sky monster was no place to eat a bullet. Plus, from what she'd seen, the Nautilus' shell looked to be too thick to break through even with cannon fire. "Guess I'll have to find a soft spot." Annie reckoned. Looking around to get her bearings she dashed off in the direction of the monster's head. ~ "Yargh, its shell be too thick to crack!" Sturges roared, mirroring Annie's assessment. "Cannons don't work. Bombs don't work." One of his crewmen griped. "What else can we try?" "We'll try a torpedo." Sturges growled, turning to eye the man. "Load me up an Angler!" This time the crewmen didn't question their captain's orders, at least not out loud. Once again a small group of them dashed off to carry them out, all the while wondering if launching a torpedo at a target so close to the ship was a wise decision. But having crewed for a pirate known as the "Mad Fisher" for so long they all knew that wisdom was not one of his stronger points. Sturges peered over the railing and spotted Annie running up the length of the Nautilus' shell. "Take care lassie! We're about to drop a big one!" He cupped his hands around his mouth and called out a warning to her. ~ "What's the old gimp railing about up there?" Annie wondered when she heard Sturges' voice carried on the wind. She couldn't quite make out what he was saying though. With a shrug of her narrow shoulders she resumed her trek towards the monster's head. Annie hadn't gone very far when she heard the unmistakable whooshing sound of a torpedo being launched. "Oh no, HELL NO!" She screamed up at the ship. "Oh hell no, you didn't!" But he had. Annie watched the Angler Torpedo lift off from the Kingfish's deck with panicked eyes. She took only long enough to get a rough idea of where it would strike before running hard in the opposite direction. ~ The torpedo struck the Nautilus' shell and exploded, sending up a wall of broken fragments and leaving a sizable crater in its surface. As powerful as it was the explosive warhead hadn't broken through far enough to wound the beast's flesh. But the blast was enough to startle it. The Nautilus didn't comprehend the concept of ballistic weaponry. Its animalistic instinct told the it that whatever had caused the impact must be riding on its back. And so in response the Nautilus shifted its ponderous bulk and began to roll over. Whatever was standing atop its shell would be thrown off and fall into Deep Sky. ~ "Uh oh, this ain't good." Annie gasped as the ground beneath her feet started moving. She'd been standing on a flat, level surface only a second ago but now found herself on an incline that was getting steeper by the second. Sweat began breaking out on her forehead as Annie broke out running, heading for the top of the Nautilus' shell. Below the creature continued to roll, forcing her to run faster and faster, like a lumberjack performer balancing atop a rolling log. It wasn't long before Annie realized that no matter how fast she ran she couldn't keep pace with the Nautilus. It was only a matter of time before she fell off. Annie wasn't really scared. She was mostly just pissed off that she was going to die in such an absurd manner. She wasn't to go out in a blaze of glory amid explosions and gunfire. She wasn't going to take the Briggs Brothers out in a suicidal last-ditch attack. No, she was going to fall off the back of a giant Marocca. What a lame way to go. In a fit of morbid curiosity Annie glanced over her shoulder to see how close to the edge she was. And in that moment she saw something that filled her with a sense of reckless hope. The rope she'd descended on was only a short distance away! Once it had begun rolling the Nautilus had slowed its flying speed a bit. The Kingfish was moving past it now, bring with it the rope. Annie would have to time things perfectly and make a wild leap for it the moment it drew close enough. She wouldn't get a second try. The odds of pulling it off were one-in-a-million. "I like them odds." Annie huffed. She adjusted her own pace while keeping an eye on the rope as it came closer. Unfortunately with her attention focused on what was behind her she did not see the spiny protrusion extending from the Nautilus' shell that was looming up in front of her. All of its spinning was bringing it closer and closer to Annie as well. And then she ran right into it. "Gurgh!" Annie gasped as she crashed into the spine. In a matter of seconds both it and she vanished beneath the flying behemoth. ~ "What! Who dares desert me ship in the heat o' battle?" Sturges roared when he spotted the lifeboat floating away from the Kingfish. "Gunners! Blow the yellow bastards out o' the sky!" Corke rushed over to the captain's side. "Belay those orders!" He called out, causing everyone around him to gasp. Sturges rounded on him, prepared to run his own boatswain through for countermanding him. Before he could draw his swordfish Corke thrust a spyglass into his hands. "Take a look cap'n! Tis not what you think!" Sturges glared angrily at him but snatched the spyglass away to see for himself. Holding it up to his eyes he focused on the retreating lifeboat and broke out in a gap-toothed grin. "Well now, what have we here? A decoy o' sorts eh? Whose bright idea be that then?" Corke pointed across the deck at Raven. "Twas Miss Piper sir. She's a clever one she is." "So she is." Sturges chuckled, looking her up and down. He waved her over and then gestured towards the liferaft with its payload of explosives. "Well then missy, do the honors if ye will." |

Raven grinned as she rested her pistol over her shoulder, the yells of the ship's captain as he thought someone was running from battle pleased her. If there was one thing the Black Pirate liked it was causing confusion on ships that did not belong to her. "Gunners! Blow the yellow bastards out o' the sky!" Sturges shouted. At this point he had yet to of noticed the other Black Pirate captain yet Corke did. "Belay those orders!" Having seen the woman on deck her took a closer look at the lifeboat with his spyglass. Sturges was not all too pleased with Corke but as soon as he saw what was going on he also soon had a grin on his face. "Well now, what have we here? A decoy o' sorts eh? Whose bright idea be that then?" Raven found herself being pointed at by Corke as Sturges turned to look at her. In return she winked back while playfully swaying her hips. The captain gestured towards the lifeboat as Raven walked over to the side of the ship. "Well then missy, do the honors if ye will." Sturges seemed pleased with her plan. ''With please darling.'' Raven smiled at the Black Pirate as she brushed past him, taking a firm grip on her pistol for all to see. She lined up the life boat which was slowly turning towards the Nautilus. The beast did not seem too interested in such a small boat at first but as the lifeboat came within reach the Nautilus took notice and moved one of it's tentacles towards the trap. It quickly started to move it's tentacle as if to wrap around the small boat, and Raven had her shot in sight. As soon as the Nautilus started to pull the lifeboat back towards itself Raven waited for the moment it passed the spot that the torpedo had already hit. ''Gotcha!'' Raven said as she pulled the trigger, a red flash shot from her pistol as the bullet soared though the air. The shot hit home and sent the lifeboat into a blaze, the explosion caused the Nautilus to let go of it's grip on the small boat as it started to wave the tentacle around. It was clear the explosion had hurt the tentacle but it was hard to see what damage if any it had done until it stopped waving it around. Another thing Raven wanted to see is if the explosion had added anything to the area that the torpedo had hit. ''Not bad, wouldn't you say?'' She turned and winked at Sturges. |

As the Nautilus continued to spin Annie came back around to the top once again. Her arms and legs were wrapped tightly to the spine that had knocked her off in the first place. Annie's face was as white as a sheet after her near-death experience and a string of incoherent curses spewed from her mouth. Despite her death-grip on the Nautilus's shell Annie had managed to hold onto her machinegun. Its shoulder strap was wrapped around her wrist, within easy reach. Annie had also kept her wits about her even in the midst of the trauma she was enduring. The moment she found herself upright again her eyes began a feverish search for the tow cable again. The journey around the Nautilus' underbelly had only lasted the span of a few seconds, although it had felt like an eternity, and the Kingfish hadn't gained much ground in that time. Annie spotted the tow cable, still within reach, but not for much longer. It would be out of range within a matter of seconds and her grip on the Nautilus' spine was beginning to loosen. "One last chance." Annie muttered to herself. This one was even slimmer than the last but she was determined to make it count. She planted her feet on the Nautilus' shell but kept her grip on its spine. The beast kept spinning and once again Annie found herself being pulled over the edge. But this time she was ready. Using it like a catapult she launched herself into the air towards the rope. The tow cable dangled just out of reach as Annie flew through the air towards it. Her momentum carried her forward even as she fell, bringing the line closer. Her fingers brushed against it for one tantalizing moment. "Come on.....come here you sonuva...." Annie growled. But the cable evaded her grasp. Open sky yawned beneath her, beckoning her down into the depths. And then, her hand finally closed around the last few inches. Annie's body was jerked to a stop and dangled by one hand far below the Kingfish. Next to her the Nautilus continued on its leisurely cruise. She felt like a piece of bait hanging from a fishing line and feared that the beast might pluck her off of the rope and devour her in one gulp. Fortunately for her something else had caught the Nautilus' attention. While it was distracted Annie started clambering up the tow cable. With any luck she'd reach the deck before she missed out on any more of the fighting. ~ The Nautilus' eyes sparkled with hunger when it caught sight of the lifeboat pulling away from the Kingfish. The beast considered any small, moving airborne object a tempting meal and it wasted no time in snatching it from the air with its tentacle. Once the tiny craft was in its grip the Nautilus pulled it back towards its waiting mouth. And that was when Raven sprung her cunning trap. The lifeboat did not pass close enough to the Nautilus' shell for the explosion to damage it further as she'd hoped but it did severely injure the beast's tentacle. With a howl of pain. the Nautilus thrashed its maimed limb about. Blood splashed the underside of the Kingfish but the ship was far enough away that it avoided being struck. It was then that the Nautilus slowed considerably, nearly halting its flight. The pain had caused the beast to lapse into temporary shock. It would be vulnerable now. Or so it seemed.... As if in response to the Nautilus' voice many of the smaller spines attached to its shell began to wriggle. One by one they pulled free from the surface, revealing themselves to be smaller versions of the larger creature. Soon a small horde of these Nautiloids had gathered, seeking the source of their parents pain. Their eyes fell upon the Kingfish. ~ Annie's ascension was not going very well at all. Once again something had exploded close to her, threatening to blow her right off the tow cable. Then the Nautilus had began going ape-shit and had nearly swatted her like a bug with its injured tentacle. Although its unwitting attempt had failed the beast still managed to drench her from head to toe in its foul-smelling blood. A string of obscenity fell from Annie's mouth as she resumed her climb. It was even harder now thanks to the blood that coated the cable, making it harder to grasp. "Damn monster, damn pirates, damn...DAMMIT!" She swore loudly. "What else can do to make my life any harder today?" And that's when she was swarmed by the Nautiloids. "Oh moons damn it!" Annie growled as the blubbering creatures surrounded her and began swatting at her with their rubbery tentacles. "Just you wait! I'll kick all your asses!" She vowed, not even concerned with whether or not such creatures even had asses. Gritting her teeth Annie put on a burst of speed and scampered up the rope, leaving the Nautiloids behind. They stubbornly gave chase, hounding her every step all the way up the tow cable. ~ "Twas a thing of beauty!" Sturges laughed when Raven's plan succeeded at wounding the Nautilus. Or he might have been talking about her now that she'd shucked out of her robes. Either way the old pirate seemed pleased with her. "Ye're a real piece o' work lass! I like ye style." A moment later and a swearing, blood-spattered Annie hauled herself over the Kingfish's railing and rejoined them on the deck. She glared around hatefully at the captain and crew, unsure of who she should be yelling at for all of the explosions she'd managed to live through earlier. Before she could start ranting the Nautiloids rose up from below and swarmed the deck. They were identical to the giant beast that had spawned them but were only the size of Maroccas. But there were at least a dozen of them to be dealt with. "Cursed bilge spewin' beasts! How dare ye set foot on me ship!" Sturges roared angrily. Annie silently decided that the Nautiloids didn't have feet either but she withheld this information from the old man. Instead she unslung her machinegun and prepared to make good on her earlier vow. "A'ight lads! Sweep this filth off me deck!" Sturges ordered his crew. And Annie was only too happy to oblige him. (OOC - The Nautilus is out of attack range for now but there are plenty of Nautiloids to pick off. You may control them as NPCs and enlist the crew to assist you. Captain Sturges remains under my control though.) |

Raven was pleased with her plan, the Nautilus was in pain as it started to slow down. The creature only slowed down her own plan of getting control of the ship anyway so it had to pay the price in her eyes. Once more it seemed that the crain was in her grasp. "Twas a thing of beauty!" Sturges laughed as Raven turned to face him. Raven placed her hand against her hip while holding her pistol against her shoulder, ''I know right.'' Agreeing with the captain, taking it that he was on about her. She grinned at him as it seemed he was interested in her, "Ye're a real piece o' work lass! I like ye style." He said to her. ''Oh you have not seen anything yet.'' Raven replied as she discreetly checked that she had another shot ready in her pistol. But before Raven could make a move in getting that crain something jumped onto the deck covered in blood. It was the young girl who Raven had just presumed was dead, ''Oh it's her?'' She casually said, taking the opportunity of the moment to point her pistol in Sturges' direction. Her aim was only there for a split second as she moved her pistol a few inches away from his head and pointed her pistol as something that was moving fast towards the ship. ''What are those?'' She asked. She pulled the trigger firing a shot past the captain which hit one of the Nautiloid. In seconds the whole deck was swarming with the monsters. "A'ight lads! Sweep this filth off me deck!" Sturges ordered. Raven's face, or what could be seen of it was full of rage. Another chance to take over the ship was interrupted by meddling monsters. ''Why can't things just go my way for once?'' She yelled as she placed her pistol back onto her belt as she reached for her sword. The Black pirate charged at a single Nautiloid, slashing at it worth her blade. The sword hit the shell but only cracked it slightly, ''Playing hard to get are we?'' She pulled her sword back then swung it forwards at the Nautiloid's face where there was no hard shell. The blade cut into it's head as it became impaled onto her sword. Raven then swung her arm at a small group of the creatures, the dead Nautiloid flung from her blade at the group, knock a few out of the air. She then pulled her pistol out from her belt and aimed it at the group. Her skills with the pistol were not great unless she had a large target, but she always had a way around things. The red Moon Stone in her pistol started to glow as the shot charged. ''Pyri!'' Raven called out as she pulled the trigger. The single shot landed in the center of the group, killing a fair few of them. The others that got back up where greeted by Raven's sword as she dashed over to finish of the job. Already her kill count was getting high but as she looked around there seemed to be no end to the Nautiloids. That was when she spotted a group of three crew members having a hard time dealing with several of the monsters. Raven rushed over to their side, her blade striking one of the creatures in it's unprotected head. ''Looks like you boys could use a woman's touch.'' She mocked the crew. |

"Gyaah! Are ye tryin' to rob an ol' man of a month's sleep?" Sturges cried indignantly as Raven's bullet whizzed past his head to slay the Nautiloid that was stealing up behind him. "If that ain't the pot callin' the kettle black I'm the Nasultan!" Annie screamed back at him. She was still pissed off about her earlier bombardment it seemed. Their shouting match would have to wait until later. The swarm of Nautiloid guests had arrived and were demanding attention. Annie was only too pleased to oblige them and so was the Mad Fisher. "Gets ye're blood pumpin' don't it lass?" The old man asked with a dangerous glint in his eye. "You said it gramps." Annie smirked. "Now, let's get to work!" The two lunatic combatants separated and set to work eliminating the Nautiloids. Annie raced across the deck, right into the thick of the creatures, firing her machinegun wildly. The bullets shattered shells and pierced flesh wherever they struck and five of the creatures fell. At the same time Sturges found himself squaring off against a half dozen of the Nautiloids. He pointed his swordfish into their midst and shouted a challenge. "It'll be a cold day in Nasr before any fish gets the best o ' the cap'n!" He bellowed. "And speakin' o' fish..." Begin Super Move - Whopper From seemingly nowhere a fishing rod appeared in Sturges' hand. He whipped it over his shoulder and cast a line down into Deep Sky. Time seemed to stand still for the old fisherman as he waited for a fish to take the bait. Finally the line became taut and Sturges' struggled to reel it in. With one mighty pull the captain finally pulled his catch from the sky. It was a massive, bloated sky fish with red scales and a glowing orb dangling from a stalk that grew from its forehead. The huge fish loomed over the Kingfish's deck, casting a shadow across one of the Nautiloids. With agonizing slowness the huge fish began to descend towards the hapless creature. It fell down, crushing the Nautiloid beneath its bulk. The other Naultiloids scattered in all directions, allowing his crew to pick them off one-by-one. End Super Move Sturges' white beard was split by a fierce grin of satisfaction. He knew he'd just wasted one of his best moves on a piece of cannon fodder but that didn't bother him. He seldom got to use that attack and hadn't wanted to waste an opportunity to do so. Sturges' smile was replaced with a pained expression when an explosion rang out from across the deck. "Scrub my scuppers! Are ye tryin' to burn me ship out from under me?" He yelled at Raven. "Somebody, put that fire out! NOW!" He then yelled at anyone among his crew who cared to obey. Across the deck Annie eyed the Incendiary Grenade she had just been about to lob into another group of Nautiloids. "Um..." She muttered, caught between her desire to blow something up and the thought that the captain wouldn't approve if she did. Instead Annie chose to compromise. She tucked the incendiary back into her pocket and withdrew another grenade. Pulling the pin Annie tossed the ovular explosive into the heart of a group Nautiloids and dashed away. A few seconds later it burst open, spewing a thick cloud of green gas out. The creatures shuddered and convulsed when the poisonous fumes entered their nostrils. Annie looked on with a frown. She'd gotten the job done with a bit of Nerve Gas but somehow it just wasn't as satisfying. The wind blowing across the deck soon tore the poisonous cloud to shreds, sending wisps of the gas towards the rear of the ship. Crewmen dashed for cover, holding their hands over their mouths to avoid being poisoned as well. Standing in the middle of the deck Sturges face-palmed himself. "Maybe I should have hired the monster to kill THEM instead." He sighed. With that thought in mind Sturges turned to see what the Nautilus was up to. It had fallen behind the Kingfish and was drifting along with the wind. The wound to its tentacle seemed to have knocked the fight out of it and it was allowing the Kingfish to escape. "Bit off more than ye could chew eh?" Sturges laughed. "But ye aren't the hunter this time ye beast. I am!" He continued. Unlike the Nautilus the Mad Fisher wasn't going to let his prey slip away. He was dead set on finishing the fight. "Corke!" Sturges summoned his boatswain. From across the deck the stumpy sailor trotted over to see what his captain wanted. Sturges pointed his swordfish towards the crane mounted on the prow of the ship. "Charge the generator and move us into position. We'll end this with one blow." The next round will be the final round of battle. Finish off the Nautiloids and get your parting shots in. My next move will end the battle. |

Raven had only just finished off the monsters that the group of crew had been struggling with when another wave approached her from behind. She swung her body round raising her leg as she did to deliver a kick to the side of one of the little monsters. The impact of her boot caused a small crack in the shell as it sent the creature across the deck and into the side rail, shattering the shell and killing it in the process. As the Black Pirate reached for her blade another one lashed out at her with it's tentacle, wrapping it around her sword. ''No you don't!'' She shouted at the monster as she pulled out her pistol and shoved it into the creatures' face. A quick pull of the trigger and the shell shattered as the bullet blasted through the creature and into the head of the one behind it. Now with her sword free she was ready to finish of the group that had surrounded her. Raven spun her pistol around in her hand before letting go of it, sending it into the air. She then slashed with her sword forwards into the face of the closest of the little monsters before bringing her sword back to her side. A quick change of hands she placed the sword in her belt as she took a hold of the pink scarf like cloth she kept around her waist. Raven used the pink cloth like a whip, swiping at another of the creatures, wrapping it's own tentacle in the cloth. The Black Pirate then pulled her arm back towards herself which also pulled the creature towards her. Raven side stepped as she twisted the cloth, causing it to let go the the monster as it shot past Raven and slammed into another that was coming up from behind her. Both collided as their shells shattered. Raven swung the cloth around and returned it to her side. Now only one was left as it stared her down. Raven reached out her arm and pointed at the creature, ''Don't think I forgot you now.'' She told it as her pistol landed in her out stretched hand. Another quick pull of the trigger and the monster was no more. It had seemed that Raven had finished of the last of them in her area. Looking around the others were also almost gone thanks to the crew. "Charge the generator and move us into position. We'll end this with one blow." Sturges' voice caught Raven's attention. Her eyes shot over to the crane as a grin appeared on her face. ''Let's see what it can do.'' She told herself as she turned to check on the Nautilus. The monster was drifting a far stretch away from the ship, given up the fight it wold of seemed. Raven stared at the monster for a moment, She knew if the crane could catch the large creature then it would do the job she wanted. She then took a moment to think to herself, with the crew all fired up with the fight and all could she still take over the ship? As the crew prepared the crane she planned for both situations. |

"Helm, hard ascension!" Sturges roared across the deck. "And swing us about!" All across the Kingfish's deck the members of its crew began to hoot and whistle. "Huh? Did I miss something?" Annie wondered aloud. "What's going on here?" "We're about to land the killing blow against that monster with the ship's secret weapon!" A nearby crewman answered her with an eager voice. Annie perked up at the news and took a look around the deck. She expected a giant cannon or a huge torpedo to rise up out of the bowels of the ship. But when no such thing appeared she merely shrugged and stepped over towards the rail where she could get a good look at whatever was supposed to be happening. She just hoped that it was impressive. ~ On orders from the captain the Kingfish's prow edged upwards and the ship began to climb higher into the sky. Once it had reached the proper height it leveled off and made a hard turn, causing the deck to list dangerously. The crew were prepared for this however and they all found something to hold onto until the Kingfish finally righted itself. Once the old trawler was realigned it was a good distance above the Nautilus hovering in the distance and headed straight towards it. Captain Sturges had a feral grin on his bearded face in anticipation of what was about to happen. "Corke! Are you all charged up now?" The Mad Fisher yelled towards the bow where his boatswain was manning the huge crane. "She's all fired up sir!" Corke called back. "Just give me the word!" Sturges nodded and turned his attention back to the Nautilus. The gigantic shellfish had recovered from its painful maiming and was moving towards them at an ever increasing speed. Whether it meant to attack them from below or flee the scene of battle remained unknown. Nor would it have mattered either way. Counting off the distance Sturges waited patiently until he deemed them close enough to the Nautilus. With a downward sweep if his swordfish he bellowed his order towards the crane. "Alright lad, give em what for!" Begin Kingfish Super Attack - Power Line On the captain's order the Kingfish's crane rotated until its tow hook was dangling over the port side of the ship. Corke released the lock on the cable and it began to unwind with a metallic hissing sound. Ahead of them the Nautilus drew ever nearer. With perfect timing the tow cable extended down to the Nautilus just as the beast passed underneath the Kingfish. The heavy hook attached to it snared the edge of the Nautilus' shell and held fast. As the cable went taut the Kingfish lurched to a stop. Below the movement of the Nautilus was likewise arrested. And then, slowly but surely, the old trawlers engines, designed to pull a heavy load, began to break the stalemate. The ship moved slowly forward, dragging the Nautilus with it. "Activate the generator!" Sturges called out. Corke saluted from the crane's controls and reached across to pull down a switch mounted on its side. This activated a large generator powered by Yellow Moon Stones housed within its frame. In response a powerful electrical current arched down the length of the tow cable where it struck the Nautilus. The beast howled with pain when the high voltage current began to spread across its body. Smoke rose from its exposed flesh and the smell of burnt meat spread across the Kingfish's deck. All too soon the Nautilus lost control of its body and blacked out. Still being pulled by the Kingfish it rose upward until the tip of its shell was pointing straight downwards towards Deep Sky while its face peered upwards towards the Kingfish above. Finally it was pulled so far that its whole body toppled over backwards. Without the ability to right itself the Nautilus fell from the sky and sank beneath the clouds. End Super Attack "And that be all she wrote lads!" Sturges cackled as the Nautilus vanished into the depths of the sky. The crew cheered loudly and even Annie felt the urge to fire her machinegun into the air in celebration. The crane's tow cable was reeled in and the Kingfish returned to normal cruising height. "Take us back to port! We've got a payday waitin' there for us!" Sturges ordered. The helmsman saluted and set a course back to Maramba. "So what's our cut?" Annie asked eagerly, waving her hand between herself and Raven. Sturges had a smile on his face when he turned to answer her. But it wasn't the same smile he'd displayed only a moment ago. This one didn't quite reach his eyes. There was a dangerous glint shining behind those and it was starting to creep Annie out. "Oh, no worries lass!" Sturges growled. "Ye'll both be gettin' what's comin' to ya." It was then that Annie noticed that the crew had moved in to surround her and Raven. They were all still armed and Annie didn't see any more Nautiloids anywhere on deck. "Uh oh. I think we've been hornswoggled." Annie gasped. And then her eyelids began to grow heavy and her mind clouded over with sudden lethargy. She glanced over to see that Raven was being affected in the same way just before she collapsed to the deck and fell into a deep, Slipara-induced slumber. The battle has ended but the girls aren't out of danger yet it seems. They've both fallen prey to the infamous Mad Fisher and a Slipara spell has been cast on them, leaving them unconscious. You need only react to this situation before the final round. |

The ship started to pick up speed as they approached the Nautilus. Raven took note that the crew all rushed to grab ahold of something as the ship started to slant to one side. The black Pirate grabbed the hand rail to the stairs, her feet almost coming of from the deck. That was when another barrel of gun powered rolled on by her. Keeping her grip a plan formed in her head. Soon the ship leveled out as it got close to it's target. While still moving a little closer Raven used the fact that the crew were focused on attacking the monster and collected up the barrels. Rolling each one into place she had soon surrounded the deck with the explosives. With her plan to take the ship of blow it up depending on what the crew do she turned her attention back to that crane. It dropped just like she wanted and took hold of the large creature. Raven grinned, it was almost what she wanted, sure it was old and not the best looking crane she had seen but if it could pull that Nautilus out of the sky it would surly pull her ship back up. Just then the generator came alive, sending volts down to the monster. ''That's something I don't want to use.'' Raven rubbed the back of her head thinking what would happen if she accidently did that to her ship. "And that be all she wrote lads!" Sturges cackled. Raven looked around at the explosive barrels, one shot would send off a chain reaction all over the ship. She smiled at the captain hoping it would not come to that. When it came to taking a ship It was Raven gets it or no one does. "So what's our cut?" Annie asked, wanting her money while waving her hand between Raven and herself. ''I know what my cut is.'' Raven smirked as she reached for her pistol. No sooner as Raven's hand was placed on her weapon she did not have time to pull it out as she started to feel a little odd. "Uh oh. I think we've been hornswoggled." Annie suddenly said to her. Yet Raven only caught a part of what she said as she herself started to feel very tired. The two collapsed on the deck, a Slipara speed had been cast on the two. Raven tossed and turned, her eyes slowly opening. Too dizzy from the spell she could not tell where she was or who was with her. One thing she did know was that she appeared to be unarmed. |

Annie was rudely awakened from her unnatural slumber by a bucket of water being dumped over her head. She came to, sputtering and snarling indignantly. "Lousy...ugh, oh...you sons of....gyah!" She gasped as the cold water soaked through her clothing. Annie shook herself like a dog in an attempt to dry off. Annie's mind was still fuzzy as to what had happened but as her she peered around through bleary eyes her memory made a swift return. She herself sitting in the bottom of a liferaft. She wasn't alone either; the other mercenary, Piper Rave, was sitting with her back against Annie's. "Ah, a pleasant mornin' to ye sunshine!" A gruff voice full of dark mirth called out from somewhere above them. Annie looked up to see that the liferaft they were sitting in had been lowered over the side of the Kingfish. Looking over the railing above was the Mad Fisher, Sturges. "I'll give you a shiner ya dirty pirate skinflint!" Annie cried angrily. She rose unsteadily to her feet and reached for her machine gun only to find that it wasn't there. Fumbling about in her pockets Annie realized that she'd been completely disarmed while she was unconscious. As the liferaft rocked dangerously back and forth Annie sat back down but continued to glare angrily up at Sturges. "So why ya stabbin' us in the back like this cap'n?" Annie asked. "We held up our end of the deal! Give us our damn money!" "Aye, ye held ye're ends up a little too well I'm afraid!" Sturges returned hotly. "Ye gave that monster hell, ye did. And ye earned ye're pay to be certain." Annie stood up, rocking the boat again. "Then what's the..." She began but was cut off by Sturges' angry tirade. "Ye also did damage aplenty to me darlin' Kingfish!" Sturges yelled, his eyes flashing with anger and a vein on his forehead beginning to bulge. Sturges swept his arm across the ship's deck, indicating the patch of burned wood Raven had caused with her Pyri spell and the hole Annie had shot in the mainmast with her harpoon gun. "Oh....yeah." Annie muttered, scratching her cheek with one finger in sudden understanding. This wasn't the first time she'd had to use a portion of her reward money to repair collateral damage caused during one of her jobs. "And so I'll be usin' yer portions o' the reward to have it fixed back up nice and pretty." Sturges continued. The fierce smile had returned to his face as he glared down at the two girls. "Now...that just leaves the matter of ye two to be dealt with, aye?" Annie tore her gaze away from the old pirate. She didn't like how this whole affair was turning out and was bedeviled about what she could do to make it right. The old pirate seemed to enjoy watching her squirm for a few moments before revealing the fate he had in store for them both. "Oh, don't get ye knickers in a knot lass!" Sturges laughed down at them both. "I meant what I said about likin' ye girls so I shant harm a hair on ye pretty little heads!" Just then Corke appeared at the railing and tossed an armload of objects down into the bottom of the raft. These turned out to be the weapons that had been taken from Raven and herself while they were unconscious. Annie snatched up her machine gun, pointed it straight at Sturges and pulled the trigger without a second of hesitation. The old man chuckled when the only sound the weapon produced was the quiet click that signified that it was empty. "I'll be givin' ye back ye're property, sans bullets o'course!" Sturges laughed. "And I'll let ye both leave with ye're lives intact as well. Tis a more generous offer than most get so be grateful!" Annie dropped her machine gun and picked up her survival knife from the floor of the boat. Sturges was too far out of reach for her to cut him but maybe she would get lucky if she threw it... Just then Corke released the ropes holding the liferaft up, dropping it into the sky. Annie fell backwards, the knife falling from her hand. "Now don't ye worry! Tis the shipping lanes ye be upon! Someone's sure to pick ye up before too long!" Sturges called back to them as the Kingfish pulled away from their raft. "Farewell ladies!" Sturges cried, raising his hand in farewell. "Tis been a real pleasure sailin' with ye!" "You can kiss my rosy red ass you gimpy bastard!" Annie howled back at him. She raised her middle finger to emphasize her anger. Sturges merely laughed as he stepped away from the railing and vanished from sight. ~ Soon the Kingfish had sailed into the distance leaving the two women to drift in their liferaft. "Well that sucked." Annie sighed. She held her chin in both hands and stared blankly out across the open sky. "If I ever get my hands on that crotchety old fart I'm gonna...." Her words trailed off into a long sigh of resignation. After a few seconds Annie turned around to face Raven. "But hey, you were pretty good back there. We should team up sometime." She awarded the other woman with a genuine compliment. Anyone who liked guns and explosions as much as Raven seemed to was okay in Annie's book. "Annie. Annie Oakshot." Annie introduced herself, extending her hand for Raven to shake. "Real damned pleased to meetcha!" (This is the final round of the event. Raven was starting to put things together, as she came around she was quickly made aware of Annie's presence when she started shouting out. It turned out that Annie was wet from a bucket of water which seemed to have almost missed Raven all together. "Ah, a pleasant mornin' to ye sunshine!" Sturges' voice called down to them from above. While Annie shouted back up to the Black Pirate Raven took note of their situation and the lifeboat that the two of them were in. Raven already knew that she was unarmed and so just sat their listening to the two. As the two exchanged words the Pirate captain mentioned the damage they had both done to his ship. Raven just giggled to herself as she remembered that she did indeed burn a part of his deck, yet it seemed he had forgot that she blew up one of his other lifeboats. Sturges had their weapons dropped down to the two girls. Annie quickly grabbed her machinegun and tried to fire at the pirate. Raven on the other hand took no time at all in grabbing her sword and held it tight against herself with a smile. With her weapons now safe Raven held onto the side of the boat as it was dropped into the sky. "Farewell ladies!" Sturges called out to the two as he sailed away. Annie turned to swear at Sturges, ''He doesn't know what he's missing.'' Raven muttered to herself with a grin. There was a short moment of silence before Annie turned to face Raven. "But hey, you were pretty good back there. We should team up sometime." Raven turned to face the young girl with a smile, ''Your not so bad yourself, in fact you remind me a little of me in my younger days.'' Raven raised her finger to the side of her face for a moment, ''Well not that much younger hehe.'' "Annie. Annie Oakshot." The young girl introduced herself while extending her hand to Raven. "Real damned pleased to meetcha!" Raven shook the girl's hand before tipping her hat, ''Raven Claw, Captain Raven Claw.'' The Black Pirate Smirked She reached into her boot, a place the pirates did not search and took out a tiny red object. Raven placed it into her pistol and fired the shot into the sky where it burst into a small flare. ''Well that's my ride.'' Raven stood up looking up into the sky. In the distance a small white ship could be seen coming out from the clouds. Raven extended her hand to Annie, ''You coming?'' |
